MK to Close Early (4:30p) on NOVEMBER 30, 2017 for Private Event!

Please be aware if you are planning to visit WDW the week after Thanksgiving: Disney has scheduled their CM Service Celebration - private event - for Thursday, November 30th at MK.

This past year, MK closed at 4:30p in order to prepare for the celebration.

we were at MK last year on the day of this event. crowds seemed pretty low. Only wished we had left earlier (4PM) but buses were coming pretty quickly. we were going to DHS and 3 buses pulled up one right after another.

but 6 months from now there will be all kinds of complaints about MK closing early that day. replaced one of the early closure for the party nights that week last year

So, your job is to bump this thread on a weekly basis for the next 6 months or so.

And the other thing to note is with the CM Celebration occurring on the 30th, taping for the Holiday Specials can't be held that weekend.

Lol yea I'm sure there will still be 10+ threads titled "why is MK closing early Nov 30th??!!??". And 5 or more threads about how mad someone is that they booked their trip and Nov 30th is the only day they can go to MK and how dare Disney not give ample amount of notice. Then of course in every thread at least 1-2 people saying it's simply due to budget cuts

Perhaps mid-November is the now preferred taping schedule? No one will know until a few weeks before the actual taping.

Can you please give me the basic lowdown with the parade taping? Do they close a bunch of stuff/is it a hassle for guests/ should I avoid or will I basically be unaware it is going on?

And what is the deal with the tree and the parade?

Nothing but mainstreet is closed for taping. Almost all performances are taped before and after park closing and have CM only crowds. Taping is incredibly boring as you see the same float move the same 5 feet for an hour until they get the shot they want then move on.

I'll be there that week but Thursday is never a Magic Kingdom day for me. I prefer Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday for MK. I'm weird. I have specific days that are for each park. Like Sunday is a DHS kinda day. I'm special.....

At least Disney does something special for their Cast Members. I've seen and heard enough to know they deserve it and a lot more.

Not as knowledge as you any more . Thanks for the heads up on Cast Appreciation though. I have a ton of friends getting their 5 year pins and some getting longer than that. Wish I could go celebrate with them. This would have been year 5 for me so kind of bitter sweet in a way.

Unfortunately, the Celebration is for 10 years and increments of 5 on up. I don't remember when they actually stopped for 5 year anniversary CMs...

Oh darn. I now not even sure if they were doing 5 when I was there haha. Minor details like that have faded.

You'll have to wait 5 more years for the bittersweet effect. It does look like a great event!

When would the partys be that week then? This would just take the place of one correct? We had been thinking that was when we would be at the party as we are at seaworld for their festivites on the weekend-FRis,Sat,Sun. So I am guessing that we would need to redo our plan and probably add an extra night or so to see the party.

MVMCP should be on Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday of that week. You could always go on Sunday after you finish up at US.
