Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE Information & Questions

As Walt Disney Travel is undergoing "Magical Enhancements" today, and cannot pull up my reservation until 3pm, I'll ask the experts here;

When we made our reservations 10 months ago, I specifically remember booking a standard room with a queen and bunk beds. When I look at the rooms online today, the standard rooms only show two queens, no bunks. The Courtyard View rooms show bunks, which for us would be a $700 increase.

Am I mistaken? Has something changed? We leave in 10 days, and now my stress level is magically enhanced. Argh!
I have never seen a category for standard rooms with bunks when trying to book a reservation. However, they do have bunk beds in some of the standard view rooms. We had a bunk bed in our room when we stayed there. I requested one at check in and was so happy that we got it. That was my daughter's favorite part of our trip. She had never slept on bunk beds before so she was very excited.

I don't believe you will be charged if you are requesting additional towels (based on the number of occupants in your room) but if you are requesting clean towels you should incur a charge. You may launder them for free in the DVC laundry room on the first floor near the entry (bring your own soap or buy it from vending in the laundry room).

If they are still doing pins as a construction "apology" during your travel dates, you should get them. We stayed on our own points in December and got the pins.

I believe roaring forks will be back open for your dates so you can probably get mugs either at geyser point or roaring forks. Keep an eye on the boards between now and then!

Enjoy your studio :) I liked the studio better than the main lodge rooms. It was just more our style and I LOVE having a full size coffee pot!
Are there toasters in the studios? We are staying in one in June and on their website there is a toaster in the picture but it isn't listed. Just curious

Thank you this is most helpful. I didn't even know the washing machines were free. Many sites I went to simply stated they were there but not that they were free. The savings just keep adding up! I agree with the full size coffee pot DH and I need our go go juice!

You used to be able to book a woods view bunk bed room. I can only guess that when they eliminated the woods view category they also eliminated the ability to book those bunk bed rooms. I suggest that you have the request for a room with a bunk bed added to your reservation within the next few days. They start assigning rooms approximately five days out and I would guess that they would try to give you one of the bunk bed rooms when they did the assignments. It would be better to have that done before you arrive. :)

Good luck. Let us know how it turns out. :)

I have an elevator question I am hoping someone can answer. I realize that the south wing construction may end up changing this, but assuming they keep the halls and elevator access the same:

(pre-construction) there are three elevators in the lobby area, near to the Mercantile store. Do these elevators allow access to the south wing (ie not just to the lobby view rooms) ??

The reason I am asking: Our last stay at WL we were in a courtyard view room (facing the villas) in the south wing, on the 2nd floor (same level as the lobby). To enter that room area, you come through an entrance that is off the hall that goes from the lobby to the covered walkway to the villas and the buses. The problem is, the designated smoking area is just outside the exterior door there and the smoke drifts inside -- at different times in the day it is worse than others. So, that hallway from the lobby would be smoke-filled [sometime as far as the totem pole in front of the mercantile, though usually not quite that far], as would the first stretch of the hallway to the rooms. We would have to hold our breath and walk quickly to get far enough down the rooms hall that the infiltrating smoke was not a problem. I would like to avoid this issue with our next stay, and because we are thinking of CCV, would like to know about elevator access to higher floors. I realize most people probably wouldn't even notice the issue, but as someone highly sensitive to smoke we did and it detracted from our stay.

Thank you !

SW

Thanks Sue! the 5 days thing is good to know. I'm trying to get in touch with them today BUT I was on hold for 30 minutes before I gave up. Wondering if they are still down and not answering calls, or maybe just busy catching up.
Try try again!

Update- Yeah... just tried again and the wait time is over 15 minutes. The website says "Temporarily unable to retrieve additional details about this reservation." I think they are still having issues with the reservation system.

Does anyone know if there was some sort of event or filming for something like CC yesterday? I was around the WL grounds and lobby waiting for my ME pickup and there were a ton of cameras, people dressed up, and guest relations CMs. Seemed out of the ordinary compared to other days during my stay.

Had a friend who was there - said were filming promo info for the new DVC.

So I just spoke to Guest Services in regards to Territory Lounge breakfast offerings and she called the resort and was told you can NOT use snack credits on the pastries at Territory Lounge during breakfast as you could at RF. Can anyone confirm their experience this week? I read you could on another forum. This makes me super sad as we usually eat those pastries for breakfast and use our snack credits for breakfast and we do not want to wait till we get to the park to eat =(

I did not go into territory lounge during my stay for breakfast, but I saw a sign posted that confirmed you could fill your resort mugs with coffee there.

The Wilderness Lodge Mercantile had a case of cupcakes, cookies, and pastries that you could use snack credits on.

It's good you are asking for info here. The chance that GS actually know the answer to this is very slim

Oh that's good to hear! If I can get my chocolate croissant at the mercantile I'll be golden!
