Minnie Vans "Uber" like transport begins soon!

I could totally be wrong, but I think banning Ubers/Lyfts/Taxis would be penny smart, dollar stupid.

Should they really get bent out of shape that they are missing out on 7 dollars when guests are spending hundreds of dollars within the parks? I get they want to get every dollar they can, but still, I think there is a point where even Disney says the amount of effort it would take to provide the service won't output the amount of dollars to make it worth it.

It's also my way of going off property, i.e. Target and Universal

plus it doesn't cost them anything and relieves congestion on the buses and other transportation options, so not really a negative to them. Another reason I think it anything their system would be more expensive and cater to those not wanting to use an external vendor and/or be "nicer" or more Disney themed, etc.

Plus there are a ton of people that visit the parks and resorts from off property that would need access to get on property.

They could possibly give the Disney ones special drop off points though and tell the others they have to do their thing a little further away.
I've never taken an Uber onsite, but I've seen that every resort parking lot is gated. Do they let Uber drivers in to pick up or drop off guests at the resort "front door?"

If so, they could try to put a stop to that - which gives an advantage to the Disney service.

They do front door, sometimes if they can get closer to your part of the resort say like in PO-R they will try to take you closer.

I find it hard to believe you would do it as an included service at any resort. The volume demands would be sky high. Who would wait for a bus to go to AK or DHS from the Contemporary if you could call your own free car service? For every bus you would need 20-30 vehicles. No, this is going to be an add on service for those who are willing to pay NOT to use the bus. Disney could make it significantly more convenient than an Uber just by setting pickup/drop off points at Parks and Resorts. Then charge a premium for the convenience. Or allow it to work like the In Park Express Bus, go from Park to Park inside the security bubble and backstage, but instead of being on a schedule it's at your convenience. Either would be a premium service that people would pay for, but probably not the bulk of people. So you aren't having to expand the roads massively because you just added several thousand vehicles to the right of ways...

Who said anything about it being free?

I used Uber my first and only time on our last trip to WDW ("only" because I haven't needed it since). We were taking a day trip and rented a car, and Enterprise was able to pick me up but was closed when I dropped the car back off. It was a quick 5 minute jaunt, the security guard at Pop's main gate scanned my MagicBand to ensure the driver was heading where he was supposed to, and that was it.

My guess is that it is more added features - so "better" service, not cheaper - Disney doesn't tend to do "cheaper". Maybe make it themed or have access to the bus lanes or something so quicker than other options

Wonder if they could offer this as being like an included service if you stay in a Deluxe resort or something as added benefit of staying there

Who said anything about it being free?

Just an idea someone posted.

Fair enough, probably hard for them to offer it to everyone in Deluxe - maybe concierge?

Or maybe add it as part of a deluxe dessert party experience ... I bet people would be willing to pay a bit to have the dessert party plus know they have a waiting car for them outside rather having to deal with long lines following the fireworks.

Just spitballing a bit - just think they could do something to combine it with other services or other costs rather than just straight competing with Uber/Lyft for basically the same service is all

This seems like a great idea, I wonder if they will have more options available (car seats!) family Ubers while available are much longer waits last time I checked.

If they did this and mostly had ones available with car seats, I would totally use it.

If no to the car seats, buses it will be.

Ah ok, I see now where that came from. I was so confused lol. I think Deluxe would be too much as the deluxe resort prices are through the roof already, but I could see this as being a benefit of concierge.

That's a very interesting statement. So in the car (with airbags and reinforced frames) = car seat. In the big bus (Wide open tube, no air bags, no restraints) = no car seat. Makes sense.

I hear what you saying. But I think (and I know there is debate about this) it's not legal to have a kid in a car without a car seat, absolutely the case in NJ. However no such law for buses. So if Disney is going to supply a bus I'm not going to take a car with out a car seat.

We didn't take uber last trip because of the car seat issue, but did take buses...so I didn't mean it in terms of what's safer, more in terms of what my actual options are.

I think it's criminal to charge people to get around their own property that is sold at high cost per night partially based on an internal transportation system...

Keep feeding the monster till it turns its neck around at dinner time

The roads are not private property...or they would have to pay to build/maintain them

As my friend above said, the roads belong to Reedy Creek Improvement District which is a public governing body set up by the FL legislature to govern the "Florida Project", which we all know is Disney. RCID builds and maintains them however, they are public roads. Orange County Sheriff's Dept and FHP provide investigation and law enforcement services on contract to RCID.

Agreed. Disney will either have to offer some incentive or be cheaper than Uber for this to really work. From what I have seen Uber works very well all around the World

Why would they need to be cheaper? I would assume they would have official Disney vehicles, probably better drop off areas, ability to pay with Magic Band, and possibly make it part of a package. Sounds like smart business to me and definitely something I would pay for.

There is no Uber where I'm from and frankly I don't get care if they get banned from Disney property.
