Traditionally as this is our second trip to Disney with last in 2014, if they are going to pre-release FD for Disney Visa cardholders how soon before public date does that occur and how is a cardholder notified released ?

We had a place in DL that we told my DS to go to if he got lost. We haven't needed it but I also made sure it's near CM's and if he gets lost I go right there. Now he is older and if he wants to go off on his own at wdw we have to let him. However he also isn't one who would want to run off alone. He enjoy's our trips as a family.

I personally feel the days of early release for DV holders is over, haven't seen anything in years as far as advanced notice, the last time I did I was already booked.

Thank you. I'm nervous with the construction at Coronado and CBR that there is going to be more limited release of FD rooms and like everyone else trying to create a strategy. We had no problem getting FD in 2014 but I think it is a different game now. We r a family of 5 and this would be the last year we pay for 4 instead of 5 tickets so we are crossing our fingers.

Just keep following here you'll know when it's about to drop, we're fortunate enough to have those with insider knowledge!!!

It is going to be interesting to see how mods come into play this year. I also had FD 2014 and booked it after it released and there was a lot of selection. For my dates the only mod available is POR which typically is excluded that late in the year. I'm glad we had already decided value.

The rooms are definitely being booked in a matter of minutes for our choices. 9/2-9/9 or 9/9-9/16!

Family of 6 (1 2yo). CSR is booked. 2BR villas are disappearing too in AKL Kidani and BC.

We already booked 2 rooms in CSR but looking for alternatives. We prefer 2 baths and beds for everyone (so wasn't too keen with the value suites that has sofas instead).

Hoping for FD DDP. I can't sleep thinking the promo will be announced soon

You think they'd offer GCs for CSR too because of the construction?

I didn't book CBR for that reason then after I chose CSR, they announced its construction too.

With the assistance of KimBean, finally about to figure out some actual numbers, but I feel I'm missing something.
Travelling with 2 adults and a child - staying at CBR (standard room 202/nt)- cost of stay, tix (5 day) , PH and upgrade to DDP seems to be $3068 (based on FD being QSDP)
However, if a RO is offered of even 15% and I get the CDN ticket offer (even with PH its $905), pay full price for DDP it seems to be $2916.
Am I missing something, or is this truly one of those situations where the upgrades to get "free dining" costs more than paying for dining?
No, depending on where you are staying and how many people are in the room it can be cheaper to book a RO and get a better deal.

I have a Summer Room Discount and the Canadian Ticket Deal booked right now. If I can get FD at a value resort, and only need to pay a bit more than my $600 estimate for food I will book it as I know I didn't add in as many snacks or any drinks. I also didn't add in the hoppers, which we probably would do.

:offtopic: Would any on here take a sat or Sunday off? The touring plan says sat would be a 6 and Sunday a 5 on our trip. Or should I take a Monday off? tue and wed will be our last days in the park.

I may also get a ticket for that day (it's only like 30 bucks) just to have the option to go in. Could do 3 fp+ for throw away fp's (3 that if my family decided we didn't have to do. We could easily skip it)(we are planing a few of these in the trip so just in case.
most days we will have 2 big fp+ and one throw away (the last one) in case we want to skip it or go to a different park.

If you want to take a day off I would do Saturday. How many days are you doing? I like to plan a day off every couple of days. Unfortunately this year it's a no go. I want to get a few days in at SeaWorld before my AP expires so that only leaves me with 10 days at Disney, including our arrival day after flying the night before (red-eye). Who says you need sleep? You can sleep when you get home!

Not sure when you're going and your plan but our go-to short trip plan (which is basically everytime) is arrive Fri and have a nice dinner somewhere, Sat we do MK (not best day to do but we're planning masters), Sun we sleep in and do brunch and then do a party (Xmas this year), Mon is our sleep in and late character breakfast/rest day (though we've also spent about 2-3 hours at waterpark on these days too when we got free tickets for them), then Tues is our split day of HS/AK.

AK at night is awesome, we had an empty park last year and just kept riding EE over and over again but obviously we don't expect to do that this year. We also we're fortunate to receive "raincheck" Halloween tickets for our Sun rainout so we hopped over to MK that Tues after doing what we wanted at AK and caught parade, fireworks, and rides at Halloween Party. Glorious night and perfect trip plan for us. Was a great mix of fun, go hard, and rest. Ultimately a laid back trip.

nov 27th- for 8 or 9 nights. (9 if we take a day off) the first day we are hitting mk at 7pm for a night time walk down main street and a few rides. Tue will be a party day but still going to rope drop a park get a few things out the way and lunch, then head to change and rest before the party. we will go in about 230 so to miss the massive crowd at 4pm.
wed I'm doing rope drop at ak just for pandora and then using express to go somewhere else before lunch rest and then back to mk (mk open till 1 am this night) so can take longer rest at the hotel before back to park.)
Thursdays my bday.
Bday plans consist of starting in Epcot. test track (rope drop) then head to frozen ever after and meet the sisters. By 11 or so ill want lunch at the American pavilion, I found something I really wanted.
Then we will head to rest
Go to HS do the F! dinner package and 3 fp+'s
After F! take the express to Epcot and try and see illuminations as well. (that would be a good end to my Bday I think.
(all of this changes with the wind because let's face it I'm crazy and change things by the hour but as of now, before climbing into my nice cool water bed. This is my first three days plan.
It may be best for the fam if we took Friday off instead Sat idk, also matters on the hours of the parks and what I could fit in that late night.
Our day off plan does start with a late wake-up. a meal at T-rex (we think) then take the boat around to resort hop. Once done with the Disney springs boat we will go back and relax at our room. That night we have Ohana dinner planned and will take the time to resort hop while we are over there. Also taking Uber to Ohana or where we wish to start. So we do not have to deal with the back and forth hassle.

Just on orbitz and last minute travel but I'm only looking for something super close like the Disney Springs area. We have only stayed on property except for 1 night before/after our Disney package so I don't really have experience with anything off site. What I'm finding is between $160-220/night and then add on top of that all the other fees, it comes out the same as a Disney resort.

You need to be looking at condos not hotels to get the good deals. Wyndham Bonnet Creek, Windsor Hills just to name a couple. You also need to book through an owner not the resort. Check out the Orlando page.

Believe the GC s was mainly due to the food court and dining being closed. CSR still have all dining etc. open. CBR's construction is more than room renov

I wonder if I should bug my TA again and see if she has additional information re FD? Shes at Dreams. ..Ive akready given her my back up resorts but worried she didn't write them down or her dog ate the notes or the wind blew it off her desk.....somebody stop me!

Travel agents have no additional information.

But do you think it could be that visa holders are offered the dining from 8/13 since I believe Black 1st gave that date, and others say is reliable. Then a GP offer starts on 8/24, the date people have changed here to based on SA reports?

I think that's feasible.
