It Takes Two, Baby; a 2017 Flower and Garden dining report *NEW dining report!*

Now in the evening I think it's a different story as far as ordering, because I know they have tableside ordering. I'm not sure if this window is open just until a certain time in the evening or only for breakfast.

We did a Geyser Point drive-by too, maybe around 6-7 pm? It was pretty busy but the window was open for ordering! So if you order, I guess you can take it and sit near the bar/in the seating area!? but I'm assuming the bar serves the menu too!?

"OMG! Kari @kastoney didn't tell me she was coming this week!!" :drinking:

Bahahaha!

I love those coffee cups!!

These views certainly weren't terrible at all, especially looking left and right. However I wasn't awed by them. I think because there wasn't much "action" outside? IDK, I know that sounds weird. I like when you can see/hear people, even just sometimes. Maybe because we were so high up, even on the very rare occasion we saw people down below we didn't hear anything. Whatever, it certainly had no effect on the trip!
We weren't rushing anywhere this morning but also didn't sleep in that late, and around 8:30 walked out to Geyser Point to check it out (Steve had actually walked down there earlier since he always gets up around 6. I don't).
We had a room on the 5th floor in that section of the WL on an earlier trip. I agree that the view isn't too exciting.

Now in the evening I think it's a different story as far as ordering, because I know they have tableside ordering. I'm not sure if this window is open just until a certain time in the evening or only for breakfast.
The counter service window is open until midnight right now. I don't know if they'll keep it open that late once Roaring Forks reopens.

I don't know if I can stress this enough, but the views from the lounge are gorgeous, especially on a beautiful day.
We were at Geyser Point a little earlier than same morning. What a gorgeous day it was. :)

I'd be like your really cool Grandma :rotfl2:
RRIIIIIIIGHT. :P You're not THAT much older than I am you silly goose!

so I want to share those pics with you guys, even though you've probably seen millions of GP pics online already.
Much appreciated, I loved your photos!

Steve in his tank top, you can see it was shaping up to be a really nice day.
LOL. "Sun's out, guns out" comes to mind

Note I have no pictures of said bagels
Well I will forgive you this once since I know what bagels look like. Don't let it happen again!

the woman was beginning to argue with the CM because she wanted a Bloody Mary and the CM said they couldn't serve alcohol before 11 :confused3
Would this have happened to be a Sunday? Down here in the south we have weird rules on Sundays. Monday through Saturday you can drink yourself silly at 6:00 am if you like, but if you're supposed to be in church on Sunday morning then you ain't getting a bloody mary NOWHERE. :confused3

My inlaws were in just about the same spot last year and we really enjoyed the view, but the construction wasn't quite so extensive yet. Of course I also don't like people so being high up and away from the action is a good thing for me :-)

And in the this has nothing to do with anything mode, Casey is looking over my shoulder and wanted me to share these emoji's and let you know she was in the three fishy opera at school

:fish::fish::fish:

Between the glare on the building and Steve in his tank top, you can see it was shaping up to be a really nice day.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I don't know if I can stress this enough, but the views from the lounge are gorgeous, especially on a beautiful day. We walked to the "edge", by which I mean the "edge" of the concrete patio, and I took about 6 pictures of said view but I'll only bother you with a couple since I'm failing to post any food pics in this update!
Over to the left, that's the dock where you take the boat to MK/Contemporary/FW:

I can't wait to check this place out. Outdoor tables, tapas, drinks, and on the water, can't get any better than that.

Steve was and told me the woman was beginning to argue with the CM because she wanted a Bloody Mary and the CM said they couldn't serve alcohol before 11 :confused3 Now my 2nd thought was, "that's weird, because there are plenty of restaurants on property that serve Bloody Mary's at breakfast as well as Mimosa's". But my first thought before turning to look at the woman was, "OMG! Kari @kastoney didn't tell me she was coming this week!!" :drinking:
Ah, I was your first thought  And as my first thought, how do they serve breakfast from Territory Lounge and NOT serve alcohol. Hello, its a bar?

And oh by the way that was totally me casually stalking you and Steve on our trip :P

So pretty! I wouldn't mind more pictures of that.

, have a HAPPY EASTER tomorrow!

Happy Easter!

Great update! I love the sound of the crab cake sandwich so I may to boat over from MK when I am there in August to check it out! How is the planning going for your May trip? Are you back at WL again? Looking forward to hearing more soon!

I'll do your ironing for you if you do my cooking. I find ironing relaxing because I'm weird, but I do not cook except for sauce. Luckily Steve cooks so the boys don't have to eat takeout and frozen pizza every night.
If only we were closer... It sounds like it would be a plan.. My children aren't even sure what an iron is...

Ugh, you pics of the courtyard view make me sad. I know they are nice views. I want the "standard" view! I am hoping that we can upgrade to a bunk bed room and then request a standard view!

We did a Geyser Point drive-by too, maybe around 6-7 pm? It was pretty busy but the window was open for ordering! So if you order, I guess you can take it and sit near the bar/in the seating area!? but I'm assuming the bar serves the menu too!?
You definitely can do that, and they also have servers that come around to the tables and take your order, at least at night. We saw that later on that day :)

We were at Geyser Point a little earlier than same morning. What a gorgeous day it was. :)
It most definitely was. We could have passed each other coming and going!
Some people are just not happy people without there morning drink.:headache::crazy2:
Ha very true! Funny yet sad at the same time, but at least it gave us a laugh.

Much appreciated, I loved your photos!
:thanks:

LOL. "Sun's out, guns out" comes to mind
OMG remember those shirts? Please tell me K never wore one!

Would this have happened to be a Sunday? Down here in the south we have weird rules on Sundays. Monday through Saturday you can drink yourself silly at 6:00 am if you like, but if you're supposed to be in church on Sunday morning then you ain't getting a bloody mary NOWHERE. :confused3
YES! Melinda for the win!! And maybe since it's technically a bar and not a restaurant that rule applies? Because when we did Trails End brunch it was on a Sunday and we got a Bloody Mary.
The laws here in NY are much different. Until a couple months ago you couldn't buy alcohol in grocery stores (which is really just beer) before noon on Sundays but they recently did away with that law. I guess they figure they can't control the drinking in NY so why try :rotfl2: We're all going to hell!

Of course I also don't like people so being high up and away from the action is a good thing for me :-)
So what you're saying is, you'd appreciate room requests like, " please put this family close to lobby", "close to any cheer/sports groups staying at said resort"? :P

Casey is looking over my shoulder and wanted me to share these emoji's and let you know she was in the three fishy opera at school
I'm not familiar with the three fishy opera, but if she was in it I'm sure it was spectacular!

I can't wait to check this place out. Outdoor tables, tapas, drinks, and on the water, can't get any better than that.
I think you guys would love it.

And as my first thought, how do they serve breakfast from Territory Lounge and NOT serve alcohol. Hello, its a bar?
LOL, you best stick to visiting there Mon-Sat. if the reasoning has to do with what @pepperandchips said above!

And oh by the way that was totally me casually stalking you and Steve on our trip :P
You were waiting for me to try the itty bitty sangria in Morocco so you could laugh

Happy Easter!
Hope you guys had a nice day!

:flower1: Happy Easter :flower1:
Right back at you Tammy! Hope you enjoyed your holiday :goodvibes

I love the sound of the crab cake sandwich so I may to boat over from MK when I am there in August to check it out!
I think that's a good idea. Even though it'll be hot out, they have huge overhead fans to keep a breeze going and actually, they also had electric heaters on the ceiling which were on that morning we checked it out.

How is the planning going for your May trip? Are you back at WL again?
I finally came up with a decent plan about 2 days ago lol. So it looks good! We were staying at BC but recently switched to AKV which I'm excited about. We stayed there once last year and it's become my 2nd favorite resort (behind WL). But hopefully we'll be back at WL on a not so future trip! We're also doing the Pandora AP preview on the 20th and the Marceline to the Magic Kingdom tour, so I'm pretty excited. Thanks for asking!

My children aren't even sure what an iron is...
:rotfl: That's how my sisters kids are, she NEVER irons. In fact when my oldest nephew (12) comes to visit, I threaten to iron his underwear because he and his mom like to tease me about ironing.

Ugh, you pics of the courtyard view make me sad
I'm sorry! I hate that I made you sad :(

I want the "standard" view! I am hoping that we can upgrade to a bunk bed room and then request a standard view!
It's not that the views were terrible at all and the room itself was in a fine spot and we loved everything about the room. Hey, we were at the WL! Just compare to the view we did have from our SV room there...........yeah, you really can't compare. I sincerely hope you get that SV room there pixiedust:

I know, I know, I know! Hey really any hotel on Disney Property is fantastic! ;)

we've lucked out so many times with great views we could deal with one that might not be perfect.
Our room was on the 6th floor: here's our view from our balcony looking to the left:

Wow…not bad at all, really! I have had enough AMAZING views that for the next two trips I'm getting standard views to save on points. The amazing views are nice, but definitely not a necessity for having a fabulous trip :-)

Aw, hello, Bay Lake Tower  See you next April!

I did take a picture of the back of Steve's coffee cup since I didn't remember the cups saying this on our trip last Nov:

OMG! I LOVE that :love::love: It actually made me tear up  I'm such a geek for Walt quotes!

What a beautiful day at WL! Your view was quite lovely, I've had some pretty terrible views at WDW before but I've never really paid up to stay in a room with a view so I get what I pay for. Sometimes I luck out with a water view or, at AKL, a Savannah view, which was super nice of them to upgrade us so.

Geyser point looks pretty cool. That view is a reason to go. I will visit WL one day. I keep saying that but I never get the chance to.
That's so funny how you thought that lady was Kari...:rotfl:wait, I may have commented something similar on her dining report, something about how is it noon and you don't' already have a drink? :rotfl:
Looking forward to the rest of your good eats!

I totally missed your room pics very nice especially looking to the left.
I miss that beautiful blue sky but thanks to some great rates from SW and a little creative planning Kathy and I are headed down in 33 days :woohoo:

I can't believe I am just now finding this! Great report so far and I'm glad I can read right through your &?@*<% and ________ without skipping a beat

Liberty Tree Tavern Lunch
I'm back, and I promise this update includes FOOD! After our somewhat slow-paced morning we boarded the boat to MK. This is probably Steve's favorite part of staying at the Wilderness Lodge and I think it's pretty awesome, too. We got to MK about 10:15 and I noticed something that had been added after our Nov. trip but I hadn't thought about yesterday - the passholder entrance! What a breeze, and we pretty much used those entrances for the rest of our stay. As soon as we hit Main St. we saw the trolley and it was the perfect timing as they had just pulled to a stop and were loading up with guests so we jumped on for our first ever ride!
We took a ride right down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A. and it was de-liteful. I loved all the people looking at us in awe, like, "how did they get to ride in there?" "Because I'm ME, guys, that's why" ;)
The horse-drawn trolley goes from in front of the train station, around the HUB and passes the castle, and then comes to a stop. I explained to our driver that I have a fellow TA who visits Tri-Circle D Ranch very often as she's an avid horse lover and that Zilly is her favorite, and Zilly happened to be pulling the trolley that day so I wanted a picture with him:

Why do I look so awkward and uncomfortable?? And why are my legs so damn white lol? Like any of you are focusing on me, how beautiful is Zilly? I love the silver Mickey head over his nose and on his hindquarters, and their were 2 more on his eye patches.
We continued on to do our first FP which was 7DMT, Steve's request since we didn't do it in Nov. and then rode Astro Orbiter; my 2nd time and Steve's 1st. The little boy belonging to the family in front of us was full on french kissing the railing while we were waiting :crazy2: :crazy2: :faint: so that was fun to watch. Then at some point I discovered where this was for the first time:

I can't believe in all my trips I never knew exactly where it was! But that's the fun right, always finding something new.
We did a couple more rides and then it was time for our lunch reservation and I was seriously looking forward to this. The last time we'd eaten at Liberty Tree Tavern was in 2012 or 2013, we really liked it, and I'd been wanting to return. We had a lunch reservation back in Nov. but then they changed the menu about 2 weeks before our trip and took off just about everything we would have ordered so I cancelled. But THEN, like 5 days before THIS trip, they put all that good stuff back on the menu! Originally we had no lunch ADR but while we were getting ready in the morning Steve asked what we were doing for lunch, and when I told him "?" he informed me he needed a TS meal. So we booked a 12:30 ADR around 8:15 that morning.

We checked in about 5 minutes early and were told it would be just a few minutes. I'd forgotten what it looks like inside:

They also have a table set up with coloring sheets and crayons for the kids. Today however there were about 5 adults coloring and I SO wanted to join them! Actually I wanted to take a stack of the coloring sheets and shove them in my purse, but alas my purse was too small. Otherwise I totally would have taken them and colored on the plane home :D
About 10 minutes later they called the DeVizio family from the territory of NY ( I love this, too) and we were brought to the Jefferson room. Our table was right under a picture of Thomas Jefferson so I quickly looked around the room to see if they also had pictures of his many illegitimate children but as usual, they get no respect. Seriously I was wondering if the other rooms were named after Presidents or signers of the Declaration and I meant to go look after our meal but then I forgot.

I wish I'd gotten our servers name because she was great; her and Steve kept going back and forth annoying each other in a playful way.
Here's the family style menu, I think it's the same as the dinner menu and it's also the one they started serving in place of the regular lunch menu back in Nov:

Steve and I both opted to order from the A La Carte menu which had been recently added back:

But first, we drink! Steve got a Sam Adams and I got a Mimosa. It was good, just a little too pulpy for me. You can see the pulp on the glass. It didn't make it bad but I prefer no pulp anyway:

I got the Colony Salad: Grilled Chicken, Washington Apples, Sweet Pecans, Applewood-smoked Cheddar, and Dried Cranberries tossed with Field Greens in a Honey Shallot Vinaigrette:

This is a perfect salad. The chicken was grilled just how I like it, which means not charred too much. The dressing has a light, sweet taste and there wasn't too much or too little of it. I managed to eat about 2/3 of this!
Steve ordered Our Tavern Keeper's Favorite: Pot Roast served with Mashed Potatoes and Garden Vegetables:

Steve is a huge pot roast fan and he wasn't disappointed in the least with this. Loved the corn also and said the potatoes were out of this world. I think that means overall this was a hit for him!
I had really wanted to order the Sweet Corn Fritters as an appetizer but I knew I needed to get dessert and I didn't think I could handle app-meal-dessert. And I didn't want to give up the salad because you know, I always eat healthy :D So rather than risk being too full for desert or giving up my daily intake of greens, I skipped the app, ate my salad and dug in to the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake: Vanilla Cake with Gooey Toffee filling, Caramel Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream, which had recently begun being served in this awesome period-appropriate skillet:

In the immortal words of Sally Fields, let me just say "YES! YES! YES!" This dessert is pretty much perfect. I love those big huge chocolate chip cookies covered in ice cream that you get in some restaurants and this kind of reminded me of that only better because the cake is delicious and you get TOFFEE. GOOEY TOFFEE. Inside and then those crumbled pieces of what I assume are Heath bars or some Disney equivalent. Steve tried literally 2 bites and I at the rest. All of it. Yes I did.
I enjoyed this meal so much I'm currently debating eating here again next month. I want to, but there are so many places I want to eat I hate to repeat so soon. On the other hand after our tour on the 19th we'll be starving so eating at MK will be ideal. I'm currently planning to try getting into the Plaza but..............I don't know...................
Sufficiently stuffed and feeling happy but gross we left there and used our Splash FP. We had used our 2nd FP for Big Thunder earlier so tried to get a 4th; no mountains were available until 6:00 and later and we had plans to be elsewhere so instead we shopped a bit. I found a HM tank top in Momento Mori that I loved but they didn't have my size so I asked the nice CM there if they had it anywhere in the park. He said they only sell HM merch there. I felt like riding the Liberty Belle but as we approached I realized it was closed for Tiana's Ice Cream Social, so we headed out. We went through the Emporium looking for the aforementioned tank, a CM there checked on the app and told me they had my size at Momento Mori  No tank for me! We decided to head back to the room for a bit before our evening park switch so we took the boat once more. I snapped some pictures of the WL cabins being worked on; in this one you can see pretty well the outdoor stone fireplace on each cabin:

I haven't seen projected prices for staying in the cabins anywhere; I assume $$$ but I'd probably like to try one day. We got back to our room about 3:10 and had a small window of time to chill and change before heading to AK and our dinner at Tiffins!

UP NEXT: DUH, TIFFINS ROL DINING PACKAGE

This is a good picture of you!! And the horse is beautiful, too!

We had a lunch reservation back in Nov. but then they changed the menu about 2 weeks before our trip and took off just about everything we would have ordered so I cancelled. But THEN, like 5 days before THIS trip, they put all that good stuff back on the menu!

We cancelled in December for the same reason. I'm glad the menu is back the way it was...I might add this in for October. I haven't been since it was a character meal, but it always stuck with me and I've been wanting to go back!!

TOFFEE. GOOEY TOFFEE

More precious words were never spoken.:lovestruc:lovestruc (or typed, LOL!!) Yum, yum, yum!!

Reports like yours is why I had to start my PTR by saying I will be changing my plans. Your LTT review makes me want to eat there. I want gooey toffee!
