SDFP: CHANGES COMING!! Beware the 7th of June?!

The OP has the things to look for as far as cards to make sure they will work. Also, you can often find used gray bands on Ebay for just a couple of dollars, which will serve the purpose as long as the seller had entered them on their MDE (and make sure if buying multiples that they're not clones)

Hi, the cards have everything that the OP said to look for, they are identical to the 4 day passes sold to us by the military base, my only concern is whether they will work since they are not a used pass/ticket they but rather a blank never used ticket card that were taken by a Disney employee brand new prior to anyone buying them so they never had any days loaded onto them. I guess I will try them out next month and see and if they don't work. thanx for the response :)

has anyone seen the list of where the kiosks where it shows one outside the park at Hollywood studios, it's slightly different from other kiosk lists I have found online I googled "disney world kiosk locations" and clicked on the 7th link down at wdwinfo then clicked on the link to fastpass kiosk locations and service centers and it lists "Hollywood stuidos guest relations outside the park" if it really exists that would be the best way to test out cards or bands

I don't have any experience with these kinds of cards directly but I do think at some point in this thread (or possibly one of the threads discussing this before ScrapYap made this excellent summary) someone mentioned trying one of these cards and it did not work. They do look like regular cards but without having ever been "activated", they're just like MB's that haven't been linked and just generated an error message. Wish I could remember more but it was a while ago. If you do test them, we'd really appreciate if you report back for future reference!

As far as I know, there are no kiosks outside of park entrances. I see what you're referring to above but I think if it did exist at some point, it's no longer there now. But again, if you find that it is there, please let us know. If I happen to make it to HS before you go I'll try to look as well.

Probably not all guest relations have FP reservation kiosks. Technically you cannot book same day fastpasses without being inside a park. Unless you have prebooked FPs with valid tickets, you would be able to book or change your FPs online outside the park.

I went ahead and bought a set of 4 used magic bands from ebay today as a back up in case the cards don't work, I figure I can resell them for what I paid after we get back home. we are doing sea world and water park days in between the days for the 4 Disney parks so with only 1 day for each park and no hopper passes the extra time not in lines for the less popular rides will be a big time saver. thx so much to ScrapYap for going thru so much trouble for everyone else's vacation benefit.

ok, pleeease forgive me if this has been asked: I read first page 3 times...

I don't see any MBs showing on the Magicbands and cards page of my MDE, but I did use them for a trip in 2014. Not sure why they don't show. I've created the phantom friends in my MDE and am ready to link the old MBs to them. But I'm checking with you first because I don't remember you mentioning this as a possibility. I think you said if they were old they'd be linked already to the MDE of the persons who'd used them, so we either need to borrow or buy. Have you seen this?

You couldn't have used those bands unless they were linked to an MDE. And you can't move bands from one person to another.

You must have another MDE on another email address. You could call Disney and read them the codes on one of your old MBs so they can tell you what MDE they were associated with.

thanks! I'm trying to remember, and I think at one point I accidentally canceled my MDE account by doing an unsubscribe to a different type of email that was sent from the family of Disney. I remember trying to login and having to re-create my account because it said I didn't have one. Maybe that's why I can still use the same email address but it's a new MDE account? So I guess i'm OK to use the bands without attaching them to any new phantoms since they were already linked to a prior MDE account?

You double checked the bands' codes to confirm they're not on your current MDE? If they're not there, they should work for SDFP. Let us know how it works out!

there are no linked cards or bands on my MDE. I will call Disney just to make sure. you rock!

I talked to Disney IT. He said he's never seen this happen before. For some reason our magic bands did not show up on my MDE account. I guess it had something to do with a transactional account and that is used only for a credit card transaction. That is where the magic bands were showing up. And when I was logging in with my email it was going to my reservation account which didn't show the bands. So they ended up attaching the bands back in as active to my account.
Sooooo, now I'm going to go with option two, ask a friend to borrow their active bands to use at the kiosk in the park. I hope this helps someone else that might be going to the same issue, even though he said he never seen it before. Strange.

Our magic bands from our last trip in August 2013 are also not showing up on MDE. So when I get my MB for this trip, i will check the numbers and if they are different, then no need to create "phantom" names. I am assuming they will be different numbers since the old bands don't appear on MDE................I am blown away by this! Wait til I tell my kids about this!

I had checked both. I caution you not to think that the bands that aren't in there will work at the kiosks. After researching they found that the bands that we had were still linked to our prior account even though they weren't showing up. So if you take those bands and try to use them they probably won't work. I think it's just a glitch that they aren't showing up for you.
Maybe you could try the option of borrowing.

I never tried to link the cards because from reading (many times LOL) only new magic bands needed to be linked to a MDE account, the entry cards and used magic bands did not need to be linked. there are no days on these cards they are the cards that if you go to the gate and purchase a full price entry they give you the card there at the gate, a worker there takes a lot of these cards before they are activated and sold and trades (and sells) them to people like my mom who collect random cards. I thought there was no point in trying to add phantom family members or creating a 2nd MDE to try to link them since they don't have any days on them, should I try this? I'm going to try the cards when i'm there just to see if they work but as a back up I bought used magic bands so that either way we will be covered.

No reason not to try linking them to phantoms.

This is such a coincidence but after I made a phantom account for linking new MBs I just found my old MB1 from a 2014 trip and I was super excited when I didn't see them linked to my current MDE account however when I looked at my invoice it looks as though I used the current email associated with my MDE account so I went and looked under an old email to see if they were linked there and nothing (of course I had to update pw etc..) but nothing it just asked me to check the terms of service again and security questions. So, I am going to assume my current MDE account was the one I used in 2014 and has that glitch as well and just bite the bullet and buy new MB (now I have two phantom accounts) sigh!! How do you delete phantom accounts?
