According to Blog Mickey on Twitter, a CM standing outside Hall of Presidents said that the attraction would re-open "sometime in September". If this is the case, the refurb will be 2-3 months extended from its original re-opening date, and would have been closed for 8 months.

I wonder if this may be the end of the Hall of Presidents as we know it, seeing as its taking so long? (or maybe the Muppets have taken it over!?!)

Did you see the vice article? That explains much of it. It seems as if Disney is playing a wait and see here. The political climate is very hot right now and Disney seems to be trying to to what's best for the attraction and to not favor one side.

Lets stay on topic to the attraction and not the political nature of our Presidency. Please and thank you!

I hadn't seen the article, but just read through it and it does explain some info (here is the link if anyone hasn't read it and wants to: https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/...rama-at-walt-disney-worlds-hall-of-presidents). Disney is most certainly playing a wait and see game. But whenever they open the attraction back up, there is of course going to be a backlash from those anti-Trump. It will certainly be interesting to see how the show is presented when it finally re-opens. I'm sure there will be complaints however they do it tbh.

It is interesting they've supposedly delayed the re-opening of the attraction by over 2 months though, I wonder if they are just putting off the complaints and issues re-opening it may cause...

FWIW, there is a thread on Disboards already about this. Disney is claiming that they are having difficulty getting the President to record a speech for his anamatronic counterpart. That could have something with the possible delay.

I'm not sure that is all the issue, but I have heard the President has refused to record any dialogue. The latest i've heard is that Trump will not speak in HoP. The show may revert back to its pre-1993 version, where only a couple of past presidents speak and lead the show.

Similar to how I didn't go the entire time Obama was in office.... didn't hurt me a bit.

I agree - and this is why they need to stop having the current President speak altogether. We live in a politically polarized time, and the media everywhere makes it worse (including Disney subsidiaries). As a result, people don't trust the media. Disney should have the Founding Fathers speak, and that's it. Make it patriotic; and something that everyone can enjoy. ...or at least the crowd that doesn't hate America.

I actually really like this idea. I would much rather have old school presidents talking anyways. There are so many good quotes that can be used and they don't have to write up a new speech that doesn't hurt feelings for the newest president.

I was thinking, Washington, Lincoln, and Teddy Roosevelt. Different important times in Americas history. Maybe Kennedy too!

What would be great is if they had 2-3 speak in each show, but give 10 or so of them the ability to speak. Then there would be different shows, and you had good odds of seeing a different show each time you go. Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Jackson, Lincoln, T Roosevelt, maybe Kennedy or a couple of other lesser known Presidents that did a good job and were good orators.

I'm genuinely curious why Iger would be invited to the White House, and why he refused whether it was political or not.

I must also mention that when Obama did his voice for his animatronic that they did the recording at the White House.

But, I can feel the tension in this forum starting to rise. This is why I believe having past presidents speak may be more beneficial to Disney in the long run.

It's getting harder and harder to visit the Hall because of all the politics. Constant jeers and cheers at certain presidents, just not fair to anyone really.

Because it's not true.

Was public information and reported here on DIS.

You might remember us sharing with you last year that Bob Iger, Chairman, and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, was asked to be a part of the President’s Strategic and Policy Forum. We mentioned that the group would be meeting regularly with President Donald Trump and that the first meeting would take place this month.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that this meeting is set for next week and that Bob Iger will not be attending due to a company board meeting that was set in place “several months ago.”

I believe there have been 2-3 of these meetings so far and Iger has yet to be at any of them. Iger did say when last interviewed that he plans to attend the next meeting though.

I figured. I feel like that would've been much bigger news if that did happen.

Ha I watched this last night and was thinking about the Hall of Presidents going "yeah Disney should do that!"

"You're next, Chest-ah A. Ah-thah!"

I think there are plenty of minimal ways Disney could probably incorporate any modern POTUS with some speaking role, in theory it would be a way to keep the attraction "fresh" (ha!) compared to just loading in the equivalent of a mannequin in the back row. But it may be in Disney's long-term interest to just go with the "innocuous" historical presidents (whose own transgressions we mostly ignore).

No. There aren't any compelling arguments against him being there....

Sorry - I meant for him not to speak. Of course he needs to be represented. I should have clarified that end part there. I don't think he should speak, I agree we should go back to just Lincoln & Washington. Keep it historical rather than political.

If Disney announced this kind of change last year before we knew who our new president would be, it would be fine. To try and make the change now would make the decision look entirely political, something that I think Disney really needs to avoid.
