DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Happy Saturday morning. Tennis this AM and then cut the grass. That's it on my schedule for today. Swim meet tomorrow for oldest.

TGIF. First week at my new job, thankful it's over. It's been a busy week getting used to the new routine. It's the first time in almost 20 years I've worked 9 to 5 so it's quite an adjustment for everyone. I think it will be good in the long run.

Exciting day for DD17. She was elected level 3 student rep on her school's student council for next year (level 3 is the last year of high school here). AND on the same day she was offered a summer job in the WISE program - Women in Science & Engineering. I have to say I'm pretty proud of her. Plus it's nice that she'll be kept busy every day this summer.

Glad to hear the new job is off to a good start. Congrats to dd.

Someone should start a store around this idea

If only.

Man, those beer goggles are strong. If she was 16 in the film, she'd be about 74...

That is another beauty about going to the movies. The characters never change and the ending is always the same.

Thanks. It was about as expected. The alcohol helped me make it thru.

Afternoon Gents.

Sitting in a hotel room in PEI watching the Jays game and having a local brew called Rogues Roost IPA, I think I could have more of this.

We are here with DS as he supports his basketball team in their first tournament of the summer. Strange setup in this tournament; their division has two five team pools. They played last night at 6:30 and beat the Nova Scotia provincial team and now they wait until 6 tonight to play their second game which just happens to be the semi-final. I don't think I have ever seen a schedule like this.

Oh well, that's more time to try the local brew.

OK boys, that's it. After a shocker of a week, I'm calling it. Week over. Everyone out. Everyone in the (whichever bar Mike put up) for beers. Last one in has to take Aurora home. And let me tell ya, she don't do too well with pr1cks on her fingers.

Good luck Mike on the wedding stuff. I'll catch up over the weekend. Have a great Friday night chaps, all the best from London.

I was way ahead of you, I didn't go to work.

Afternoon gents and evening to the mother country. Enjoying what is likely my last 90 minutes of downtime for the weekend. Got rehearsal dinner tonight at Bucca DaBepo (Italian) and what looked like a washout forecast has turned to Sunny and no rain for the big day. Wish me luck and you guys have a good weekend with the families.

Hope last night went well and today is even better.

Very cool and nice offer. What type of work was she offered?

Hey Dan, who you cheering for in the Champions League Final? Juventus or Real Madrid? I'm going with Ronaldo.

Well I spent today transporting Elsa around. No, I was not dressed as Kristoff and I was not driving a sleigh. DD17 had four parties today from 11-5 so I was lucky enough to drive her all over town in her Elsa costume. In between that I put up DD9'S trampoline. I'm ready to sit back and watch the Stanley Cup playoffs tonight.

Second game is the semis, that's definitely different. Good luck to them.

What type of work was she offered?
She won't find out the specific job until next week, but it's mainly lab assistant

Was it Frozen in St John's today? ;)

The schedule was pretty screwy, the team they played had played their second game to get into the semi and they had won their first game as well. They did lose the game today but DS and their other big are both hurt and they lost a point guard in the first quarter when he went crashing into the end wall and ended up with a concussion.

I'm in a boring train to Surrey on a yellow card to the SIL birthday, as I said I'd be there by about 730. It's 845. I really don't like her husband.
My advice to you is to drink heavily.
Of course that also just plain common sence.

Happy Friday. I just drank the St. Bernadus Abt 12, 1 pint 9.4 oz 10% Alcohol. If anyone can calculate how drunk I am, I would appreciate it. :lmao:
Not sure I could calculate it precisely, but if you were to ship me a couple bottle of the stuff I can certainly offer up some anecdotal comparisons.

Let's start the day at 5:15 AM. Drove oldest dd to swim, an hour it to the gym, youngest to swim (trying some conditioning), made it to the office for an hour, Sam's Club for shopping, tennis with youngest dd and two HS tennis team friends, and back home to drinking. We are going to a surprise party for DW's cousin. Hey, I'm drunk and don't have much feeling in my fingers as I'm typing on the iPad. I think I put a load of laundry in as well.
You do stay busy
Drunkenness would always be a benefit in such conditions.

But then, I’ve been drinking too so my thought may be somewhat skewed by that fact.
Time to go poor me another Pluff Mud, I do believe.

Yeah, I'm heading to DW's cousin's surprise 50th birthday party tonight. DW is driving. Remember, my inlaws are still worse than yours. DW's parents divorced and they continue to fight over the younger son they want, at the expense of the daughter they didn't (my DW). MIL dropped $20K to get two vehicles out of repo for her adult son. FIL bought him a $150K house. They both bring us butchered meat, cow or sheep, to ease their guilt. I get to hang with FIL & BIL at this party. Where's the beer? :drinking1 :furious: :sad2:

Whoa…
It’s like Déjà vu all over again.

She side gigs as Elsa at kids parties?
That’s just plain cool, right there.

And may the new job be just the change that you were needing.

They did lose the game today but DS and there other big are both hurt and they lost a point guard in the first quarter when he went crashing into the end wall and ended up with a concussion.
May the young’ns injuries not be to serious.
And too bad about the loss under tough circumstances.
I’d say y’all are about due for some better times.

Thanks. We managed to get it all worked out. My wife went to the union rep, and basically said that she wanted something she was entitled too, and they agreed. So they went and got the letter.

We fly out Monday, and I found out Friday I have to put in all my staff raises starting Monday and it has to be done by the end of the week. <sigh> SO I have to squeeze that in during all my morning meetings. I am working today to clear up what I can. But Disney in a little over 48 hours. (We fly to Orlando on Monday, but we are not booked into a Disney hotel until Tuesday. :) )

Happy Sunday. Put in a day of work at the church with next week on campus. Another couple busy weeks and hopefully things will be slow for the

It's in the mail, right along with the dues. :lmao:

Point guard was better today but still a little foggy. DS did a great job at keeping stats so if he doesn't heel he will always have that going for him. ;)

The boys finished on a high note, finishing with a 20 point win to take third spot in the tournament. Pretty good considering.

I hope so! I'm sure your family will be happy to have you home.

Cool! Lots of great opportunities for women in engineering and science. My daughter is going down a similar road. Her dream job is in Imagineering, of course.

I'm ready to sit back and watch the Stanley Cup playoffs tonight.

Glad Nashville is back in it. Mostly because I hate the Penguins.

They did lose the game today but DS and their other big are both hurt and they lost a point guard in the first quarter when he went crashing into the end wall and ended up with a concussion.

Yikes. These guys are dropping like flies! Hope he's ok.

Glad to hear that worked out for her! Enjoy Disney!

He can be a backup QB in the NFL! Already has experience holding a clipboard.:rotfl2:

Yes, she has a party usually once a week - this was the first time she's had multiple parties. I guess I posted about it a few months ago when you were MIA... :) Here she is in costume (I considered my Donald shirt to be close enough to a costume)

Thanks, it's taking some getting used to and very hectic at the start, but I think it will be good in the end.

Imagineering would be awesome. My DD is talking about medicine (!!??) We'll see how that pans out. But I think for an undergraduate degree she's looking at behavioural neuroscience - I have no idea, but it sounds cool.

Glad Nashville is back in it. Mostly because I hate the Penguins.
I'm kind of indifferent to either team. I just watch for the sake of it at this point.

Evening chaps, from a relatively p1ssed off London. On my jacks again, the missus is out at a book club.

Yahoo! Completed onboarding this morning and am scheduled for Traditions on the 15th.
Nice one. How long does traditions last?
behavioural neuroscience
I wouldn't be able to spell that, let alone study it. Hope you are getting on OK mate, and enjoying the life at base camp Hunt. Is it still snowing?
DS did a great job at keeping stats so if he doesn't heel he will always have that going for him
Every boy's dream, to record the achievements of other boys. Hope he gets better soon. I thought he was only out for a couple of weeks?
My wife went to the union rep, and basically said that she wanted something she was entitled too, and they agreed. So they went and got the letter.
Nice one Mick and enjoy the trip. A lot of corporate bullies fall over when you bare your teeth a bit.
My advice to you is to drink heavily.
I always said you were the wise one of the group...
The characters never change and the ending is always the same.
Was it a happy one?
No, I was not dressed as Kristoff and I was not driving a sleigh.
Disappointing. Ya gotta commit buddy.
Hey Dan, who you cheering for in the Champions League Final? Juventus or Real Madrid? I'm going with Ronaldo.
You chose wisely mate. What a second half. You've gotta give it up for Ronaldo. He is an absolute egomaniac, but a quality footballer. We still gave him a ton of abuse at ours though when he missed a penalty at Upton Park.

Anything else I've missed, Best Wishes, Dole Whip, Bacon, Lapu Lapus all round. Have a great evening boys.

Another Monday is in the books and another long drive. Glad the day is done.

Yes, it was a great 2nd half. Real Madrid just poured it on and Ronaldo took his game to another level. I don't get to see him play live very often, and it was enjoyable.

Every boy's dream, to record the achievements of other boys. Hope he gets better soon. I thought he was only out for a couple of weeks?

It turned out to be a high ankle sprain so he is still in the crutches, hopefully he'll ditch those this week. Physio a couple of times of week and he's working hard on his own to get back.

Glad to hear you are OK.

Looks like a bit of a tough weekend around here as thoughts and prayers go out to London. The weekend was really great and the wedding could not have been a better event. Dad lost it just once, first look of the beautiful bride was just a bit much. Voice started to crack a bit during my speech / toast but I was able to get it back in order pretty quick. Everyone had a great night and weekend though it was a bit of an emotional roller coaster for me and DW, but good emotions I guess. Not many pics yet from photographers but her is the best I have of the couple so far:

All the best mate, have a fantastic weekend and remember to step back and savour the moment.
Good luck with everything this weekend. It's a big step for sure.
Hope last night went well and today is even better.
Hope all the festivities have been going well and congrats to the new couple.
Thank you gents, was a big day for sure with lots of love and pride.

Congrats on getting through the first week and thinking of you that this really works out for the better for you. Big congrats to DD on her accomplishments and recognition also - well done there proud pappa!

Good deal that DW got what she needed - sometimes you just need to push. Hope you are all checked in today and enjoying DaWorld - have a blast!

Afternoon from a very soggy S. Florida. Monsoon season has started and it has rained 4 days straight now. Expected to continue the rest of the week. Not all bad though, temps have moderated so I opened the window, killed the AC and have a nice breeze blowing through the house. Plus we needed the rain.

Thanks. We managed to get it all worked out. My wife went to the union rep, and basically said that she wanted something she was entitled too, and they agreed. So they went and got the letter.

Glad it worked out for her. Nothing to interfere with the trip. Have a blast.

Congrats on the 3rd place. Bet it was killing him to be just keeping stats. Glad the other kid is doing better.

Cool! Lots of great opportunities for women in engineering and science. My daughter is going down a similar road. Her dream job is in Imagineering, of course.

As a father of a daughter, I cheer any opportunities that are open to women who have talent. When she gets that Imagineering job, think she could set us up with a private backstage tour?

Yes, she has a party usually once a week - this was the first time she's had multiple parties. I guess I posted about it a few months ago when you were MIA... :) Here she is in costume (I considered my Donald shirt to be close enough to a costume)

Nice picture, she certainly looks the part. Bet the little ones love it.

Good for her. I guess. Whatever behavioural neuroscience is. It is funny when mine starts talking with her grad students friends they try to dumb it down for me on whatever they are researching. My common response is to stroke my chin and nod knowingly.

A well deserved Yahoo from us to you. Good luck.

Evening chaps, from a relatively p1ssed off London. On my jacks again, the missus is out at a book club.

Glad you and your family are safe. Really admire how Londoners reacted. No panic, throwing pints and chairs to fight off the attackers. I was struck by a story of a man who the next day went to the restaurant/pub he ran out of to pay his bill from the night before. "Keep Calm and Carry On" still epitomizes you Brits.

Beautiful picture of your daughter and the guy that doesn't deserve marring her. Glad everything went well. I can totally understand the emotions you felt, I know I would not be able to keep it together. May the couple have a long, happy and prosperous life together.
