Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

@Scott MC - I agree - I don't understand some of the decisions being made, either, and ESPECIALLY this one!

@natebenma - There is a thread on it; they are replacing with lights.

Some speculate that Disney is moving away from resort tiers (value, moderate, deluxe) and this is part of the leveling of amenities. Another example is that the Pop refurbs are adding coffee makers, a queen bed and Murphy bed that is *possibly* queen-sized. Very interesting changes a-foot

With the new rooms at the YC, who thinks they will get less of a discount now like BC does? Pricing will probably go way up next year.

Still wicked behind here! I have been trying to see if questions are getting answered, or responding myself when I have the chance. I apologize if I have missed a post (prior to page 900) or if I have answered twice because I lost track. And doubly apologize if I answered twice and gave different info!

;)

Hello everyone!

I was wondering if there is a Yacht Club picture thread somewhere (if there is, I can't find it!). Thank you!

:welcome:

I know you from the Trip Report boards, but it is nice to see you here.

Do you have an upcoming trip?

:goodvibes

We returned from our BCV stay on May 20, 2017 and I have been trying to get settled back into the real world and prepare for our return in another couple of weeks. :faint: Tiring, but really looking forward to getting back so soon! :woohoo:

I thought I would share our room views from BCV #249.

Thanks so much for your fantastic report, room descriptions and photos.

Somewhere on the Community Resorts board there is a BCV Room View and Descriptions. I would be eternally grateful if you added your post over there!

:thanks:

Thanks for this info! Very interesting. Not having coffee makers in the values is a big issue for me. For my stays at ASMu and ASMo it was BYOMrCoffee.

Done!

We're long time YC visitors and we ARE worried about the convention crowd. Once the massive new center is built we think room availability will dramatically decrease at YC and will likely impact BC too. Since WDW is gearing to make YC a go-to convention resort, all of the recent changes definitely have that crowd in mind.

I completely agree with you.

Disney Meeting's current site for Yacht and Beach Club does not yet market the new facility.

We are officially going back! Somehow broke into Disney's system this morning and managed to sort of book even though booking is down, but the tickets disappeared from our package so we'll have to fix that tomorrow when booking is officially back up.

Anyways, managed to get at least the room booked, so we are heading home to the YC Sept 18-24!!!!

I just don't understand the choices they are making.....

For the record, in 2015 we stayed st CR and last year we stayed at the Poly. Both rooms were frigid. Elsa would have felt at home. Literally icy blasts a 24/7 if you wanted it.
We've also split our stay with BC for the past two years and while we much preferred the resort, we vocally missed the AC at the MK resorts. Our rooms at BC have been.........ok.....in terms of temperature. Not spectacular or even good, and one year it took three trips to the front desk to get something done about it.

Again...This. Is. Florida. People.
We are staying at the Beach Club in August and I just assumed the AC would be fine. I get horrible migraines sometimes and need the air. Should we switch resorts?

I'd love to know as well. I need the room to be frigid when I sleep and if that won't happen I will move.

I'm not sure where you would move? It appears the move toward lights versus fans is happening in most of the resorts--at least the deluxe resorts. :confused3

Beach Club rooms still have the ceiling fans. We haven't had any problems keeping our room cold. In fact, when we walked into our room on arrival day last month, the AC was set at 66 degrees and it was freezing in that room.

It's about the AC, not the fans. The concerns over the motion sensors has me wondering. If all resorts have that now then I would just deal with it.

We never had the temp in our room change when we weren't in the room or when we were sleeping. It was always at the setting that we put it at.

Thanks! I've been incredibly indecisive about resort choice this time, so every little thing makes me crazy :D

The Villa we were in at BC in May did not have a fan and it did have the motion activated AC. Since the Polynesian has had motion activated AC for years and is in the process of removing ceiling fans and the reports from other deluxe resorts of fan removal and AC with motion sensors; we can probably safely bet that this will be happening soon resort wide.

I thought BC has had the same motion activated system for years as well. I'm fairly certain that was the case when we last stayed at BC and BWI/BWV as well as Polynesian. Since my husband is up multiple times in the night--the AC was activated and is not a problem. We have also utilized the "override" technique at other resorts and not had an issue with the AC.
