Official Disney Cake Chatter - Part V!

Next year, my son should have his Eagle Scout. Now that is a big deal by itself but he has special needs so it took him longer. I'd like to get a cake for him on our next trip that is special and sort of represents that accomplishment. Right now I have no plans for where I'd like to get it. Any thoughts or ideas?

I have been so busy lately and TOTALLY forgot to call Pat at the GF and the CR to make my cake order for my trip starting THIS Sunday. So...I decided to call DSS Disney Signature Services) to see what they could do. I needed a cake delivered to my room and also to Narcoses's and one to California Grill. About 2 hours after calling DSS, Pat from the GF calls me to see exactly what I want and sets it all up! She was very accommodating and it was so easy!! Audrey at DSS was on her game and reached out to Pat right away!

Now I have to see what happens with the CF and California Grill or if I need to call DSS back if I don't hear from them tomorrow.

The Contemporary is the easiest to work with. Their pasty team services that resort, as well as the restaurants and rooms at Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness. It might be fun to do a cake covered in replicas of each of his merit badges. Congratulations to your son on his impending accomplishment! All the best men I know are Eagle Scouts. :goodvibes

We are taking a pre-deployment trip and my husband will be deployed for all of our birthdays. I thought it would be fun to have a cake to celebrate everyones birthday while we are together. Kids will be turning 13 (boy) and 8 (girl) and I will be 40 in the next year. Becoming a teenager and entering a new decade needs to be celebrated! I like the idea of an unbirthday cake but I understand Mad Hatter style cakes are on the higher end of potential costs. Any other cake ideas or non Mad Hatter type UnBirthday cakes? We will be doing a split stay at Poly and BC. Thanks!!

Hi, all! So I decided to try to order 6 cupcakes to the Poly. I called the Grand Floridian and Pat answered after two rings. We spoke for less than 10 minutes and everything is settled! I am traveling with my three daughters, my mom, and my husband, so I ordered 5 princess themed cupcakes and a prince. They are delivering to the Oasis Pool at the poolside patio we have reserved. Princesses will be Cinderella (blue icing with a pink bow), Jasmine (aqua icing and a purple gem), Belle (yellow icing and a rose), Elsa (white icing with a snowflake and snow), Moana (red icing with a flower), and a Prince (bowtie). She quoted me $72 plus tax. Super expensive for cupcakes, but I know my family is going to be so excited and surprised which will make this worth it! I will post pictures after our trip in October!

You can do an Alice themed cake without it being the Mad Hatter shape.

If you wanted to do a simple one, I would pick a color combo from one of the Mad Tea Party ride cups. They should be able to take some frosting design inspiration from the cup patterns without all kinds of crazy fondant sculptures. Then, I'd write "A Very Merry Unbirthday" on top.

Edit: Since you didn't ask :rotfl2:, my favorite tea cup is a mint green background with purple design.

What a great idea!! Thank you.

If only I could actually ride the tea cups without getting ill :)

This may be common knowledge, but I've been following this thread for awhile and didn't know it! Ordered our cake earlier this week for dinner at Ohana at the Polynesian (worked with Pat at GF who was super helpful, this thread had me scared, ha). It was pre-paid, though, and she said all the cakes at the Poly were pre-paid, which was the first I'd heard of that.

Just FYI!

She told me that too, but my card still hasn't been charged since I placed my order earlier this week. Now I am a little worried my order has been misplaced!

When we went in June, I don't think I even had to provide my CC over the phone. I paid with the rest of our meal at the restaurant.

ETA: We had ours at GF, not Poly, but I would be surprised if it were different there.

Thanks! I keep checking my cc to see if it has been charged since she said it would be. At least that way I would know for sure that my order was scheduled. I guess I will just make sure to call a couple weeks out from our trip to confirm.

So I want to order a cupcake for my boyfriends 1st trip to Disney since he was like 7. While he can't wait to go he is a self described curmudgeon (I know he is a real softy !!), so really likes Grumpy. I could really use some help in the cupcake design department. Any thoughts?

My card WAS charged, but it took about three days. I would probably call to confirm they have your order. She specifically said on the phone, "We require prepayment for orders for the Polynesian", so if your order is somewhere else, I wouldn't stress.

How far in advance are y'all placing your cake orders? I know I've read on here 2 weeks but I wasn't sure how far in advance you could actually place orders. I want mine for December 3rd.

I have made cake orders anywhere from 1 week to 3 months out.

Follow the thread the advice is not to order to far in advance. Orders can be misplaced or staff not be the same were some of the examples.

Thanks for letting me know your card was charged. I am having the order delivered to the Poly too. If my card isn't charged within the week, I will call back.

Hello everyone!

I'm currently working with a chef at the contemporary. I've been given my quote for a two tier cake for $120.

My question is, is there an annual pass discount? If so, how much of a discount am I looking at?
Thanks!

To get an annual pass discount, you would need to have the cake delivered to a meal at a restaurant that currently offers AP discounts. Right now there is a promo for 30% off with an AP at The Wave until Sept. 30. CA Grill has a standard 10% off AP discount. More info here: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/passholder-program/
