Planning on rebooking while on our next cruise on the disney dream and was wondering do i have to pay the deposit on a credit card or can i pay them cash onboard?

They have always just applied mine to my onboard account which I pay with my CC.

I don't believe they are set up to take cash, but you could purchase a Disney gift card at home with the cash and then use that.

It goes on your onboard account, and is settled at the end of your cruise with whatever form of payment you've determined for that.

Whenever we've booked a cruise or placeholder onboard, we've had it charged directly to the credit card we used to pay for the current cruise. It's never been added to our onboard account.

Ok let me be more specific lol..we are not using a card for our onboard account settling it at end with cash so i am only wanting to pay cash for the rebooking as well as settling my onboard account..thank you

I have never tried to pay cash for the deposit and am not sure if they are set up that way, but you can always put that cash on a gift card (happily sold in the gift shops) and use that so you are not using a credit card.

They just charged the card we had on file so sorry, I'm not helpful here! Tip--don't wait til last day of the cruise. That line is nuts. We filled out the express form and dropped it in the box. Didn't have to talk to anyone. I received an email the next day confirming and it was easy-peasy.

So the gift shops onboard sell disney gift cards? I didnt know that :yay:

Yep.

And just to clarify, they may take cash - I have never tried as I usually use a gift card I've added money to in advance to cover the cruise I am planning to book plus a little extra in case the price has increased (though usually I have found I am ok if I check a couple of days before I leave and get the card in the amount a non-OBB deposit would be).

We're going to do this; we will have OBC and also Disney Rewards Dollars plus our Disney Visa linked to our on board account. Is there a way to ensure the future booking is charged only to the Disney Visa? We get 6 months interest deferred plus points so I want to be sure the future booking is applied to the Visa, not using the OBC or Rewards. I'm sure we've done this with no problems in the past, but I can't remember the process.

When I've booked, they've always asked me if I wanted to use the card I have on file, which is always my Disney Visa. So I just say yes. I have heard mixed reports on getting the deposit added to the onboard account, but most reports are it isn't allowed.

I've discovered the goodness of the Target card/Disney Gift card savings (Yay 5% savings!). I intended to bring some cards to pay for the deposit that way. Has anyone else done that?

In the past, I've just handed them the card and have it charged. If you hand them your Disney Visa, it should be fine.

Hand them your Disney Visa card. Don't roll it in with your onboard account as those charges do not qualify for the 0% interest.

Charges to your onboard account use a sort of hierarchy as to the source of funs: first any non-refundable OBC (like from an OBB), then refundable OBC (like from a TA or that you prepaid), then gift cards (and I believe the Rewards Redemption Card falls into this category), and finally your credit card.

Enjoy your cruise!

You can make things much easier by going to disneygiftcard.com and combining them onto one (or two - I think the limit per card is $1000 or $1500) card. Makes it easier for the person at the desk AND for you since you only have to hold onto that card in case of any refund.

It's charged to your credit card on file. It does not go on your on board account. It's completely separate. You don't have to use your cc on file. You can use a different card. If you like to pay with cash I would suggest buying a gift card and use that.

We use cash for a future cruise booking. We go to the gift shop and purchase a $250 gift card. Then I go to the future cruise desk and tell them I want to book a dummy cruise. I don't spend time selecting a cruise or rooms on board. When I get home I can book the cruise at my leisure and get the discount and OBC. They will give you back the gift after they enter into the computer. Refund will go back on the card. If you happen to misplace the card, Disney will issue you a card and mail it to you.
