I can't help but think that's unsanitary.

And for as much as you pay they really can't spare the mickey soap? I Loved taking ours home from our honeymoon (ours had Alice on the box and was so cute! I placed it in our bathroom at home as a momento from that trip)

Color me disappointed. Bean counters are really pushing it. What's next coin slot to get the soap?

Wait till kids start just pumping it all I over the dispenser.

I got a tip somewhere to put a washcloth down under the bar soap. No mess

We're staying at the AKL and they have those little pods when they put the soap bar on. If it gets messy, it's easy to clean.
On a resort without these, I'll remember the washcloth trick next time!

Will the Mouse keep the bottles in stock available per Guest request?

That would seem to be the the way to go much like instead of getting rid of all the clock/radios,they kept them and they are available per Guest request.

Why would they keep them in stock for a guest request? If they refill the dispensers, there is no need to give the guests little bottles of soap to take home...

Given the uproar in this thread, I would guess many guests would request individual bottles from Housekeeping or Front desk.

I would be interested into reading real stories of guests who were assigned in the test building.

Well, they will have to get used to not getting them I guess! ;)

It would be absolutely pointless to switch to dispensers just to keep individual bottles because guests are complaining for them.

Not all guests would complain, I expect. It might be better from a satisfaction standpoint to keep a few bottles just in case someone ask for them. (Until the point all guests ask for them, at which point the test should maybe be considered a failure.)

Nope, won't do it. I only want to use items where I break the seal. Will not use these shared items. Who knows who put what in there. Won't do it.

I would personally rather be the only person who touched my toiletries. I've witnessed way too many people exiting bathrooms at Disney (and everywhere) without washing their hands - and that's with people watching them. I don't want to think about them touching my shared shower soap.

But for the price of those resorts don't you think this is cheaping out a bit?

I remember a few years ago, the Value's had wall mounted dispensers. People complained right and left! They then went to the individual ones.

Personally, I wouldn't use a wall mounted dispenser in my resort bathroom. It's a breeding ground for germs.

A popular WDW news site is reporting that individual toiletries have been replaced at POR by pump bottles attached to the shower wall which now, I realize, is what the query in the post above was actually about. Sound just like a cost-cutting move Disney would make. Now the question remains, if they do this to all the Values and Mods, will they follow suit in Deluxes?

Yep to all of the above! It just sounds cheap / tacky. Sorry but I don't want to feel like i'm in my gym, I want to feel pampered (especially when i'm paying expensive Disney prices for our hotel stay! :sad2:) And yes I love to bring home cute little Disney soaps that remind me of my trip when i'm back home.

My DH travels for work and I make him bring all his toiletry bottles home because I donate them to the women's crisis center. I also bring home all our Disney Cruise and Disney resort toiletries. I hope it puts a smile on someone's face to get that shampoo etc. I really hope Disney doesn't roll this out resort wide!

We do something similar. We pick up people from the homeless shelter to attend church and we make them a toiletry bag and give them any clothes that people have donated.

Well, I seldom used the provided toiletries to begin with, especially at the value and moderate levels. So, it will depend on the product they put in the dispensers. Yes, I brought my extras home, but I never, not in over 50 stays, asked for more at any point. I'm concerned about what we'll be using at the vanity sinks. I want a bar of soap, not liquid stuff. So, it looks like I may have to start bringing my extra Mickey soaps from previous stays!!!
I don't think it's cheap...just depends on what they use. And sanitary? Seriously? How is it unsanitary? People touched the dispenser before you did? Sure they did, and they touched a lot of other things before you touched them!! All over the resort and parks. At least you're in the shower and washing it off!!! Once you touch it the first time, it's now your germs and probably clean again. If you're concerned, just bring a disinfectant spray and spritz it all before using.

A large enough concern though at WDW is norovirus for which hand sanitizer won't work-CDC says they are basically ineffective for that but if you were to use hand sanitizer it would need to be alcohol based ones in conjunction with hand washing rather than relying on hand sanitizer alone but ultimately normal handwashing is better against norovirus.
Clorox bleach free hand sanitizer IS approved for norovirus. This came straight from CDC. It's a spray and easier to use too.

The Clorox one mentioned is a hand sanitizer. It's not the typical gel kind, though. It's a spray. It's the one I use. I don't care for the gels.
I got that. The poster had originally just said 'hand sanitizer' (as in a blanket comment rather than a specific kind) and then knowing the cdc's recommendation on hand sanitizer...that's why I even said anything.

I am wondering when or if this will be property wide. I am a DVC owner and when you only get your initial allotment and the little bottles replenished on day for during trash and towel - now i won't have to use my initial bottles so sparingly because there will be a dispenser full for the families use.

I was thinking this too. For us DVC'ers this is a good thing since we only get one set to last 4 days. I don't really use the shampoo and conditioners, but my daughter does.

Yeah sure but do you believe they are cleaning these in that little turn over window?

Seriously well let's see in the shower I'm not gonna grab the Hand sanitizer. Are you kidding me someone servicing ahem* washing their junk and double dipping and then the next person comes in and used it wash cloth to their face or body!!! Plus, the fingers a d nails all sticking in the product and they could've just wiped their butt cause they don't wash their hands!!
So do you really believe they are taking these when they will have old product and cleaning them out and letting them soak all the pieces ?? Giving your own toiletries was a nice souviner advertisement , then the h2o was samples to get you to buy. Now they can be like Oh, you were counting on us supplying them Nope! (There are plenty of people who will not expect this) But if you want your own you can purchase a bottle or two at the gift shop! Cause they Know people would do that over trudging off property to get some.

So yes it is a cheap and Unsanitary move!
