Pop Century Room Renovations

I don't believe you will be able to purchase hot chocolate pods to fit this type of system. It is the flat, round filters that are about 3" in diameter. The machine does not take k-cup style pods.

That being said, you can possibly use it just to heat up water (???) and then bring instant hot chocolate mix. Has anyone tried this for tea and/or hot chocolate?

I do it for hot tea all the time, just make sure you take out the previous coffee pod first. I forgot once and the result was some nasty tea but since it was my last tea bag I had to suck it up.

Would anyone have a guess of availability of either building 10 or 6 for the last week of November 2017?

Not sure what you're asking? Are you Asking about booking a new reservation at Pop or, do you have a reservation booked and wondering where the status of the renovations might be?

I apologize for asking this because I know it's been answered.

What type of coffee makers do the new room have? I wanted to bring some hot chocolate with me but not sure what type of pods to purchase.

Thanks!
the coffee makers are Cuisinart, the type with the little drawer with space for 2 coffee pods. For tea, just run hot water through it and use tea bags. For hot chocolate, run hot water through it and use hot chocolate mix, like the Swiss Miss packets.

If you are asking if 10 or 6 will be open with new rooms for the last week of November...

My wild guess is 10 will be completely refurbished and open, and 6 will be under construction. Of course, if 10 takes extra work, or 6 actually goes more quickly than we've seen so far, I could be completely wrong.

But I love wild-guessing.

Thanks. Your answer was much clearer than my question. I wanted building 6 but would be happy with 10 (if I ca get either). Thanks for your wild guess.

I'm back! and here is some information: building 10 might take a little longer, there is some boarding on the middle front top to bottom it looks like they are working on structural damage. The toilets at the new room are loud! OMG beware it will wake up everyone on the middle of the night, I was on the fourth floor and got to hear a lot of noise from the murphy bed, there is a tud sound every time you opened, and we did this daily. I have mixed feelings about the laminate floor definitely keep your socks on or bring sleepers, it gets dirty really quick and you can see it, and they use those steam mops to clean them daily but still you will feel the dirt, on the other hand I shudder to think that same filt will be on a carpet o_O
we have one kid with severe allergies and one with asthma and they were perfectly fine during the stay, that laminated floor is godsend for people with allergies. The pack n' play mattress did not fit on it, it was smaller and it didn't bother my tiny 18 months old but can be a issue for larger babies. Overall the room is very convenient, lots of storage, I had 2 carryons and a full size baggage, I stored the carryons under the bed, the big one on the luggage rack between the beverage station and the dresser, and the chair fit between the door and the beverage station, add the pack n' play right next to the dresser on the other side. Yes it was cramped but we managed just fine, and no human was hurt with the murphy bed corners :rotfl2:

I forgot to metion we also had a single stroller parked right at the door... we did good organizing

@danielocha30 - thanks very much for the update. Why do I have a bad feeling that they are going to keep getting slowed down by structural damage? :headache:

I'm thinking we'll be lucky if building 10 is open in December. If there is structural damage to rooms, how can we inhabit them now?

We stayed at POFQ in 2015 (ground floor) and I remember hearing other toilets flush....but @danielocha30 report of extremely loud worries me. I'm trying to convince my husband to go top floor, he wants ground and I worried about laminate floor not being sound proof

The POP toilets have always been super loud. I don't think they changed the toilets (and if they did, the were replaced by the same type of toilets).

They are new toilets - sit much higher* - but they are still super flushers and loud. I was used to that being an approx 30 stay POP guest ... what I was not ready for was the hearing folks taking showers. The showers are not ceramic tile but "fiberglass" type inserts. The water hitting the walls carries.

* Another reason I think the new rooms are designed very much with adults in mind.

Just checked in to Pop today and am currently in one of the new refurbished rooms (had requested for a room in 80s/90s and also used Touring Plans to try to request for a refurbished room).

Absolutely loving the refurbished room. Had stayed at Pop in March this year and thought the room was rather tired and worn, and the refurbished room is so much better!

Things I love
- There is tons of lighting in the room so it is very nice and bright
- As a solo traveller, I don't need the Murphy bed. So I get to keep a nice huge table to use, with plenty of space around it with the bed up
- The little food shelf area where the fridge/coffee maker is - I've assigned it as my food area so all my Krispy treats etc go there
- The overhead shower
- Sliding doors for the bathroom instead of curtains
- The sheer number of power points and USB ports, they are everywhere and I could easily charge my iPhone and iPad on the dresser next to the bed!

Other thoughts
- I actually really like not having a bathtub. Then again I cant remember the last time I took a bath instead of a shower...
- The shower water power still isn't as strong as I'd like it to be though!
- I don't watch TV, but wow, the in room TV is huge!

Overall, I really love the refurb room. I'm almost tempted to change my reservation for POFQ next week back to Pop!

Edited to add how much I love the power points and USB ports

Has anyone been able to confirm if it's the same level as building 7? I have also lost track of just how long 7 has been down for. Let's all hope 6 is less "high maintenance"

I went back to update my resort check in since the credit card there has expired. I noticed that it did not save my requests of 90s, ground floor and when I tried to re do it, the drop down was blank? Could it be something is wrong with system?

It's a glitch. For some people (including myself), the requests do not save. Call in to make sure the have your requests down.

Hi All! We just booked Pop for Spring Break next April. Question regarding the refurbs - when a section is being worked on, is the pool in that section closed off or can it be used while the the rooms are being worked on? Sorry if this has been asked, I searched the thread and didn't get a hit. Thank you!!
