Hurricane Irma?

If he's out of line, yes.
Perspective: he asked to delete photos. In the grand scheme of things, this seems incredibly minor.

I might ask a manager what policy is and let them know a CM asked to delete pics. Just so Disney can clarify policy for all. Not go after one CM for something so minor -- ESPECIALLY under these circumstances.

For those planning to travel here later in the week I am sure disney property and mco will be back up. Two areas of concern. Evacuees have been told don't return home many went to Orlando to ride out the storm, the hotels are sold out. Second and a larger problem is gas. No gas available and no power to pump the gas. Most of the state is without power so it will take a while to get that back and get gas into the state.
I just wonder how the airport shuttles plan to get the fuel they will need.
I spoke to our hotel (Hilton Lake Buena vista) about capacity a couple days ago. The manager said she was not concerned about the availability of our room on Thurs night and if an issue did arise, it would be their responsibility to book us similar accommodations in another hotel. Folks should probably check with their hotel for their policy.

For anybody who is planning to fly down in the next few days (tues., weds., thurs...)I'd be a little concerned about the flight getting cancelled. But after that? I would not even *consider* cancelling my vacation. I have no doubt that by the time this weekend rolls around, there will be no evidence that a storm of any sort had passed through. Disney is good, I bet they'll have things up and running 100% by weds. or thursday.

Of course they can have a policy in an open area that is on their property.

But again: right now we have ONE CM who asked to delete photos. I've seen MANY PEOPLE posting pics online and livestreaming. I wouldn't draw conclusions from one experience here.

It goes both ways. It's not minor to ask someone to delete photos off their phone and inspect to make sure it's done.

I agree that isn't not exactly something worth writing the CEO of Disney about. I also doubt it's about any Disney "policy". More than likely just one CM over-reacting, and not worth an over-over-reaction.

Actually they would have to POST it to make it enforceable. If your private property is routinely used by the public the legal assumption would be that the 'privacy' is waived. Kind of like those signs Disney does post that say "we are filming today so if you enter our park we get to take your photo"

This was just CM on a power trip!

All the more reason not to make a HUGE deal of it! It's not Disney trying to cover something up that the public has some sort of right to know! ;)

And "power trip" may not be fair. Perhaps felt he was protecting the company he works for.

Either way... molehill---->mountain to report him for it. JMO.

ETA: they are asking people to stay "within their resort hotel".

Basically the Atlanta airport is "closed" as of about noon Monday 9/11. Wind gusts there are reported in the 50 MPH range. I live north of the city and it's fine here now...

I think CMs esp at this time need some slack. Some are probably very tense about the conditions of their own homes/family/etc. and while he/she over-reacted by asking poster to delete the photo, as others have mentioned, in the grand scheme of things, its really quite a minor request IMO.

From a legal angle, Disney needs to know if a CM is creating policies on their behalf. You don't just walk up to someone and ask them to delete photos off their phone and then watch to make sure they do it. It's not hard to understand the reasons. That's why I would report such behavior.

Some of you would just let it go, and I respect that too.

Note - If these pictures were taken with an Ipad they are still probably in the "Recently Deleted" album. Go to the Photos App -> Albums -> Recently Deleted.

I think you are embellishing the OP's story. Nutbean never said this. This is how things get blown out of proportion. The CM could possibly get fired if he is reported for what he may have just thought was doing his job. I think MickeyMinnieMom had a perfect solution -- asking a manager what policy is, and letting them know a CM asked for their pics to be deleted w/o naming the CM, so the CMs could be educated on policy.

I was kind of taken aback. He originally approached me and was telling me about other spots where there was damage and then looked at me with a confused look on his face and asked if I worked at Disney. I have a magic band on my wrist and dressed in t-shirt and leggings takings pics with my iPad so I'm not sure how he thought I looked like an insurance adjuster or something. Anyway, I told him I was a guest and he asked me to delete the pictures as that's not the message they want getting out there. I told him I wasn't doing it to spread anything negative about Disney but rather to document what had transpired on our vacation here. It was kind of a big deal...anyway, I deleted them and he thanked me. He was very nice about it but still...

"I deleted them and he thanked me."

I read this as she deleted them (first) and then he thanked me. He watched/monitored/inspected, does it matter?

There's a big difference between being a tattle-tale and making a company aware of an employee creating policies.

Well, if you really want to go there...

According to the timestamp of the "offended persons" post, curfew to stay in your room was still in play.

In any event, this is just silly. The state just went through a hurricane...lets whine about some photos, shall we? (If it's even true!)
