Effective 2/25/2018, you need at least 75 direct points to qualify for Membership Extras

Yes they said the last round of price increases was for that very reason - didn't work, so they bang them higher. Probably won't work again. Only a US recession will hit them. I think the Disney Parks will then have to slash prices (generous offers) as they will be hammered. The buy in (tickets, food etc) is now so much higher than last recession.

And then they'll look to DVC owners to help get them thru the slump. The same group they've started messing with when times are good. It was back in the last recession where they dropped the minimum 160 point buy in to 50. So when things tighten up and less disposable income is available what will the next VP of DVC do?

Wow. This is really disappointing as we are in the ROFR phase of a 150 pt contract and planned on purchasing our 25 pt add on as soon as we closed. Had we even thought this would have been the case we would have considered a 100 pt contract and bought 75 direct from Disney. I guess we will be paying a lot more for the annual passes, etc, etc. so upset right now....

Good job- was that 25 and did you call today?
It was 50. My resale closed last week and I probably wouldn’t be in the position to do an add on before the cutoff. But I really had planned to add on 50 anyway as the contract I bought resale was 250 and I really wanted 300, and I never came across 275 contracts. The only downside, is that they didn’t have the same UY as my resale (APR), but FEB is close enough. If 2 different UYs become to much of a hassle then I can always sell the resale contract and find another one with a matching UY as the direct.

Well the guide called back and had points for me. Got SSR FEB UY.

Were you already on a waitlist? Did you ask for 25 as a current member add on or 50 as a new member?

They told me they only had December readily available.

Sorry, posted at the same time as your above reply.

Look to see if you can buy 50 direct. Its not ideal but is most likely better than buying APs at full cost for the length of your contract.

That is odd, as soon as they told me they were selling me the points, I paid a deposit there and then, with the rest collected a month later. Maybe they have done this on purpose so they can say they hadn't 'sold' the points yet. Maybe call back and say you are calling about paying the deposit on the points?
Thanks again Wakey, we got onto them and they said the points are already in our account. So no need to worry!

Someone told me that there are typically less people with a February UY making it easier to find add-ons since it is less popular?

According to DVCNews in 2015 the resort is pretty evenly spread out for use year.

Yeah, that would be a good idea, if I wasn’t already putting out a nice chunk of change to make my current resale purchase. Let’s see what we come up with. This is such a bummer. So disappointed right now.

To recap, 50 points will be readily available at CCV through 2/25.

Anybody in process or otherwise won’t get done in time can always add on/buy as a new member 50 at CCV now instead of having to buy 75 later.

So. Strategy:

#1 If you’re already a member, try to find a 25 pointer.

#2 Ask for 50 points where you want to stay or in your UY, whichever is more important to you.

#3 If all else fails, 50 points at CCV, which should be avail in the UY you want.

On the bright side, if this pushes your buying window, you might have access to the RAT (resort avail tool) far faster than you thought you would.

Since my closing just happened on 2/8, my guide is hoping that I'll be in the system for a 25 point direct add on by tomorrow. What I need is available so, just have to cross my fingers that I show up in the system tomorrow.

Well, the Guide called back and said that nothing is available now. He said he can see all the points sitting there but can’t get them. He said there is nothing available at all at the moment (any UY any resort). He said that he has put me on the waitlist and will call when the dust settles. Whatever that means. I think this announcement has broken their system with all the calls and requests today.

I always got the impression that the waitlist process wasn't fully automated. So, I wonder if they've "frozen" whatever is showing available until they can sort out who has been promised what already.

Well... Disney just screwed us again. If anyone is looking for 50pts AKV Feb UY there may be some available.

Disney is not licensed to do contracts by mail in the states of West Virginia and Alaska for any resort other than Aulani, Copper Creek, and Poly.

Our only 50pt option would be Aulani but now we’re looking at more money.

Debating now on whether the perks still outweigh the price. Let me know your thoughts.

When someone is on the waitlist and points become available, their guide contacts them and they have 7 days to accept or decline. My guess is that some of those points that your guide can see but can't do anything with have been offered to someone and they haven't responded yet. Just a guess...

I wonder how many people who are currently still able to back out of their resale purchase will do so.
Not out of the realm of possibility. Just reached out to my agent, but I am not sure that we can at this point in time. Have to take a serious look at our options at this point.

They don't have CCV either?
