Yo Ho Yo Ho a Tipsy Life for Me - A November '17 Dining Adventure - Complete 5/27

First Casey, what a hoot! Kids and pictures of themselves is so funny!

The food looks delicious, despite, the sauna effect!

I really enjoyed MGM in November as well, loved all the Christmas decorations and shows!

Casey and I were apparently very excited about the steaks that you cannot see in the picture above us.
img_4665-jpg.319773

:rotfl: I love this picture.

We of course also got some of Yachtsman's amazing onion rolls with garlic and butter, which are unquestionably the best rolls on property.
img_4670-jpg.319776

Ooo those look so good I can't wait to try them!

I do however like me some beef fat potatoes as these are also a thing of wonder with Beef-fat Butter, Marbled Potatoes, and Crème Fraîche.

Those too! If all goes according to plan we should finally be getting to Yachtsman this trip.

From the projection show on tower of terror, to snow on hollywood blvd, and lights on all the palm trees, MGM at Christmas was everything my inner 6 year old needed.

The projection show was so good I was surprised, and I love fake snow way too much.

I was completely shocked at how much I loved MGM Christmas (even more so than MK, blasphemy I know) but Jason commented on the way out the more Christmas throws up the happier I am. So I guess you could say MGM vomited Christmas all over me and I loved every minute of it!

I think HS has the best Christmas too, I love it!

I forgot about their amazing bread. I might change some of my plans up to go to dinner here one of my November nights.

Your steaks look really good, I think they have some of the best steaks on property. That's too bad about the risotto, my favorite side there is the truffle mac and cheese

The last few trips our last dinner has been at the Yachtsman Steakhouse and not wanting to break from tradition, or amazing steak, this was a last minute no brainer.
Glad to read about it. This is top of my list for 2019.

a Moscow Mule.

My DH said he tried one this weekend and thought it was very good. I've never had one but eed to try one myself.

We of course also got some of Yachtsman's amazing onion rolls with garlic and butter, which are unquestionably the best rolls on property.

My mouth is watering!

Apparently my "sauna" was actually my toothless wonder's fingers.
:rotfl2:

Apologies for the length of the video, but if you didn't have a feel for my girls' personality yet you do now!
Loved it!

Oh and side note the first part of this became one of Casey's many catch phrases for the trip as she felt the need to sing the Caribbean Beach bus stop names.
:lmao:

Casey and I shared with Black Angus Filet Mignon with a side of potatoes au gratin.
Yummy!

I hate fat so I'm not a ribeye kinda gal
I'm not really into fat either so I rarely get ribeyes (never at restaurants and every so often at home). And then I basically cut all the fat out when we do cook them at home.

Overall Yachtsman continues to be one of our favorite restaurants on property.
So glad to hear it.

I was completely shocked at how much I loved MGM Christmas
It really seems to have stepped up the Disney Christmas game!

Omg ive been missing the dis for a while- real life got in the way- imagine that!!:rotfl:
Casey is some craic! Love that video and she shows real talent at nostril holding while poking out ones tongue:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Definitely a life skill for sure:rotfl:
The yachtsman is one of our favorite places to eat too. Those onion rolls and the steaks are just awesome :thumbsup2 Shame your risotto and service was a bit off but at least you got cheered up by MGM vomiting Christmas all over ya :lmao:

I’m catching up on reports while we drive home from WDW  and now I’m even more sad because we never made it to Yachtsman and your meal looked great, as always (minus the risotto). I never saw an ADR available at a reasonable time when I was looking for a non-park dinner, one of the pitfalls of dining with a newly 3 year old, can’t plan dinner until after nap. Hopefully we’ll make it there someday.

We of course also got some of Yachtsman's amazing onion rolls with garlic and butter, which are unquestionably the best rolls on property.
I still dream about those rolls! I think I could make a meal of those alone.

Casey and I shared with Black Angus Filet Mignon with a side of potatoes au gratin. As always the steak was amazing and cooked to a perfect medium rare. I have no idea what Yachtsman does to render all the juices into the steak, but these continue to be the best I've ever had. The potatoes were good too and ooey gooey cheesiness, but no where near as amazing as the steak.
I am not a beef eater but I know my boys would happily devour that filet. I would be very happy with the potatoes because potato+cheese=deliciousness!

After dinner we boated over to MGM to check out their Christmas decorations and I was enthralled. From the projection show on tower of terror, to snow on hollywood blvd, and lights on all the palm trees, MGM at Christmas was everything my inner 6 year old needed.
I totally NEED to see Disney at Christmas one day. I am a "more is more" when it comes to Christmas too so I know I would LOVE it!

Hi Kari! We've been home a little over a week from our WDW trip, and I'm feeling some Disney withdrawal & blues, so decided to catch up on dining reports! Well, Casey's video certainly did the trick in washing my blues away! I was :rotfl2:! She is too cute, and so funny! Life must be an adventure with her! I love Christmas, and I don't particularly love HS, but I loved HS decorated for Christmas! I agree, it is the most traditional "Christmassy" of the parks! We had a blast there on our December trip with our two little grandsons! Some day I'll get a meal at Yachtsman. We just never think about going there. I can see we're really missing out. Sorry to see your dining report is coming to an end. Do you have another trip in the works? Fingers crossed!

That video is awsome! And the ending with the finger.... Gwen has been watching uTube videos and then making her own... Pretty sure Casey and Gwen were separated at birth.
They were most definitely separated. Just today Casey told me she wasn't going to go to college because she is going to be a YouTuber when she grows up :-) Maybe she and Gwen can have their own channel!

It's just a new filter setting... the Casey Filter.
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I know you guys never do the dinning plan. I wonder how it works if you are on the dinning plan. I know Morgan would LOVE her a good piece of steak. And I think I want to try for a couple signature restaurants next time.
I always get the 10oz filet and that is plenty for me and Casey to share, though I'm sure they have steak on the kids menu for the dining plan as well. All the entrees come with your choice of potato, but the Risotto was extra so it wouldn't have come with the dining plan.

So cute. Gwen has Angel as well. I actually ordered the giant one from Disney Store awhile back when it was dirt cheap. I am saving it for her birthday.
I'm sure Casey would love that too. Though I don't know about you but we are drowning in stuffed animals and squishes here.

I loved it, too! I've never seen Prep and Landing (not that you know who I'm talking about) however the show just has such a Christmas-y feeling :goodvibes And since I love HS and love Xmas, I think it's a win.
I did know they each had a name if that helps, just could never have pulled Prep and Landing out of my brain. We only went to MGM because Casey wanted to ride Star Wars otherwise we would have missed it. I had no idea they did your favorite park up so well.

I believe we're going to Yachtsman in Aug. It'll only be our 2nd time and the first for the boys and I know Chris will be in meat heaven lol
We'll have to find some time to see if we want to coordinate some plans. We'll have our best friends with us till Tuesday and then we're free and clear :-)

Your pictures from Yatchman's are making me hungry & I just had lunch an hour or so ago. Great choice on the filet & potato, that is my entree at YSH. Sorry about the server. We have had a good run with our servers at YSH.
They are making me hungry too :-) We've never really had good service at Yacthsman, but I know others have had wonderful experience. But that has never mattered cause its all about the steak!

LOVE the throwback pic of Casey! Adorbs!!!!!
Thanks. She is/was quite the cutie

[QUO:PTE="Jenny Sanders, post: 59155331, member: 152058"]Yep, Yachtsman continues to be one of our favs too (and Cali Grill of course)...Damn, I wish I would have picked up some steaks this weekend. My mouth is salivating at the pictures of yours!!!! But, chicken it is tonight...:-)[/QUOTE]
Too funny as I am typing this we had steak last night and are having leftovers in quesadillas for cinco de may tonight :-)

Everytime I've had risotto at Disney, it has beem crunchy. I don;t know why they do that.
Hmm, must be some weird Disney thing then. i don't think I've ever had it elsewhere on property but will definitely skip out on it now.

Ooh, I wouldn't mind visiting here, too. Maybe we could get a bus full of Disers and make it a whole event :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
I can see it now: Disers do Ya Hot Club and insanity ensues

:rotfl: You and Jason are two lucky ducks - 40 minute wait time for a ride? No problem, you have your very own entertainment!
Between Jason and Casey I definitely have an endless stream of entertainment, but put that kid in a line and she's got a tolerance for nothing.

 I'm the SAME way with Halloween. The vomitier, the better. I legit want ghosts and witches and pumpkins barfed up over everything! Clearly, I'm also #keepinitclassy :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Between the 2 of us I can only fathom what our houses must look like the last 3 months of the yea4r.

:rotfl: When she got to the nose-plugging bit I lost it!
Girls definitely got talent :-)

Yummm..... :goodvibes We're going to try Yachtsman for the first time this August, and I'm pretty excited about it. Nathan's a big fan of le Cellier, and I definitely have had good meals there, but everyone keeps telling me we need to get steaks here instead.
Awesome, hope you all enjoy it. When are you gonna be there in August?

They were most definitely separated. Just today Casey told me she wasn't going to go to college because she is going to be a YouTuber when she grows up :-) Maybe she and Gwen can have their own channel!
Ha! The worst part is there are people who do make a living being you tubers.

I always get the 10oz filet and that is plenty for me and Casey to share, though I'm sure they have steak on the kids menu for the dining plan as well. All the entrees come with your choice of potato, but the Risotto was extra so it wouldn't have come with the dining plan.
Morgan turned 10 this week! So if we do the dining plan she is considered an adult! Yikes! So, she can get her very own steak! I wasn't sure if sides came with the meal. I am actually debating the dining plan, with morgan being an "adult" now, it might actually make sense to not do the dinning plan, so she can decide which menu she wants to choose from. Sometimes I think she would like it and others not so much.

I'm so glad you posted pics of Yachtsman! I made an ADR there for our next trip because we'll be staying at Beach Club and have never been. I was waffling back and forth between Yachtsman and Cali Grill but I think I'll go with Yachtsman this time :)

First of all. Let me start this reply with a song... "triiiiinidad noooorth, trriiiiiiinidad southhhh" I am laughing my butt off in bed and R is just side-eyeing me :rotfl:
One should start every reply with that :-) She sang this so much during our trip that I literally cannot hear or read the names of the CBR sections without hearing that tune.

We like to call it the "yatchet" (rhymes with ratchet) club a la the 1942 film The Palm Beach Story
I've never seen that movie but I love it!!!! Gonna have to add yatchet to the Disney vocabulary

Looks like us. I love a nice cocktail served in chilled copper and R loves beers so dark they are practically a meal in and of themselves...

We got these super cool Moscow mule mugs at a shower that look like stemless wine glasses but they are insulated thermos type double wall copper mugs. They are amazing! My mom got them for us, probably at home goods. Based on your love of stemless wine glasses I bet you'd like them too.
Hmm, I'll have to check those out. We have regular mule glasses, that I may or may not have fashioned some Mexican Mules with tequila instead of vodka in them last night. So good!

And I was so sorry to read about your first baby. I don't know what to say as it's a terrible loss. Thinking of you guys for sure.
Thanks Melinda. It's definitely hard, especially with the year we've already had, but we're muddling through.

Umm. I don't know how to save this video as a favorite so I will just be back here all the time to rewatch it. I love that your phone is her personal mirror! And ohhh this song!
Feel free to watch it anytime. She has hours and hours of videos just like it (aka with no point or purpose) that she wants me to put on youtube. She's convinced she'll be a star if I just post them :P

Oh you fancy huh?
So fancy! Of fancy in fact that one night on our honeymoon we drank an $80 bottle of amazing wine with some in and out burger :-)

I love the imagery and I love your happiness and I love Christmas so I am DEFINITELY definitely making a point to enjoy this!!!
You most definitely should. I have very little love for MGM, but their Christmas vomit turned me all around :santa:

Lovely steaks and a great bottle of wine! Too bad about the risotto but at least the stars of the meal are good. No fun about your server either! Your note makes me laugh.

MGM did have the most Christmas Throw Up This Year! Although still not as good as the Osborne Lights. I'm still bitter about that even as a huge Star Wars Fan.
If I recall you had some risotto there before too that wasn't good. Am I remembering right?

We never saw the Osbourne lights, but I can imagine if I had we'd be bitter too. Though having never seen them the decorations were all my gaudy little heart desired.

Dinner looks delicious! Yachtsman is one of my favorites as well. Those onion rolls...
They are indeed a thing of beauty!

Funny that you say that, because when I saw that you ordered a Moscow Mule, I thought to myself "I hate ginger, so I would never order that."
Well than ya definitely want to stay away from that :drinking1

Those, however, look heavenly. I am a sucker for garlic.
Me too. The more garlic the merrier.

That was too funny! She seems like such a fun kid!
She is most definitely her fathers daughter :-)

That's good to know! I'm not sure when we will make it down during Christmas decoration time, but maybe that will make up a little for the Osborne lights being gone
I never got to see the Osborne lights so I wasn't really missing anything, so that may have skewed me. But I thought it was fantastic!

Great update! We’re dining at Yachtsman on our next trip; can’t wait. Thanks for the honest review of the risotto. DH makes the best risotto I’ve had, to date, and that includes this weekends artichoke and chicken risotto at Steakhouse55 at the Disneyland Hotel this weekend.
Hope you enjoy. And while you are there tell your husband to pass along his risotto recipe :-) I make a pretty dang good risotto too, which is why it was disappointing that Disney's was so poor. Though I must say artichoke and chicken risotto sounds phenomenal, but I'm a sucker for any and all things artichoke .

First Casey, what a hoot! Kids and pictures of themselves is so funny!

The food looks delicious, despite, the sauna effect!

I really enjoyed MGM in November as well, loved all the Christmas decorations and shows!
Casey most definitely is a hoot, even if she ruins my pictures :-) Glad to see I'm not the only one in the MGM loving Christmas club.

Those too! If all goes according to plan we should finally be getting to Yachtsman this trip.
If my calculations are correct you should be there any day now. Hope you enjoy!

The projection show was so good I was surprised, and I love fake snow way too much.
Me too! There is something so wrong yet so right about "snow" in Florida.

I think HS has the best Christmas too, I love it!
Great minds :santa::santa::santa:

I agree about the bread, and that roasted garlic that spreads like butter is to die for!
It so is. Wish I could figure out how to fashion something like that at home.

I forgot about their amazing bread. I might change some of my plans up to go to dinner here one of my November nights.

Your steaks look really good, I think they have some of the best steaks on property. That's too bad about the risotto, my favorite side there is the truffle mac and cheese
Is November your wedding????? If so (or even if not) Yachtsman is a great splurge. We'll definitely be going back to the truffle mac and cheese next time. Its far superior to the risotto.

Glad to read about it. This is top of my list for 2019.
Top of the list is most definitely where Yachtsman should be :-)

My DH said he tried one this weekend and thought it was very good. I've never had one but eed to try one myself.
You must remedy that soon. As long as you like ginger ale you'l love a mule. Its made with ginger beer which is stronger than flavor than ginger ale and oh so good.

I'm not really into fat either so I rarely get ribeyes (never at restaurants and every so often at home). And then I basically cut all the fat out when we do cook them at home.
Sounds like we treat ribeyes just about the same. Though my dog loves it when we eat ribeyes cause he gets all my leftovers.

Omg ive been missing the dis for a while- real life got in the way- imagine that!!:rotfl:
I cannot imagine such a thing. How could anything be more important than message boards filled with people you don't know :-)

My craicy Casey. I'll have to teach her that word because she definitely personifies it, nostrils and all.

Hope you all had a great trip. Are you going to do another dining report?

I know the trials and tribulations of dining with a 3 year old oh too well. Though I must say that we can thank Casey's naps and last minute reservations for how we eat now. If we hadn't taken her that long, we may be in the ADR race with everyone else.

I still dream about those rolls! I think I could make a meal of those alone.
You and me both. Give me some garlic rolls with a side of Sanaa bread service and I'm set for life.

I am not a beef eater but I know my boys would happily devour that filet. I would be very happy with the potatoes because potato+cheese=deliciousness!
They have a ton of non-meat options too. They always have something vegetarian or seafood that sounds awesome, but then I cannot pull myself away from the steak.

I totally NEED to see Disney at Christmas one day. I am a "more is more" when it comes to Christmas too so I know I would LOVE it!
You most definitely should. I think a long weekend solo trip would be just what Santa claus ordered :santa:

Hi Kari! We've been home a little over a week from our WDW trip, and I'm feeling some Disney withdrawal & blues, so decided to catch up on dining reports! Well, Casey's video certainly did the trick in washing my blues away! I was :rotfl2:!
Hi Teresa! I loved watching all your photos on Facebook. Definitely fun to live vicariously through everyone else.

I love Christmas, and I don't particularly love HS, but I loved HS decorated for Christmas! I agree, it is the most traditional "Christmassy" of the parks! We had a blast there on our December trip with our two little grandsons!
I'm in the same boat. Any other time I could skip MGM and not even care, but give me Christmas in that park all year round!

Sorry to see your dining report is coming to an end. Do you have another trip in the works? Fingers crossed!
I know me, too. But we're heading back down in August for my birthday and before school starts. Think we are going to get annual passes again as Jason wants to do the Star Wars race next April and I'm sure I can make up an excuse for another trip somewhere in there.

Ha! The worst part is there are people who do make a living being you tubers.
I know right. And whats worse is our kids views are somehow paying them :confused3

Happy Birthday Morgan!!!! Double digits is a huge deal.

I'm so glad you posted pics of Yachtsman! I made an ADR there for our next trip because we'll be staying at Beach Club and have never been. I was waffling back and forth between Yachtsman and Cali Grill but I think I'll go with Yachtsman this time :)
We're staying at Beach Club on our next trip too, so I know we'll be back!

If I recall you had some risotto there before too that wasn't good. Am I remembering right?

We never saw the Osbourne lights, but I can imagine if I had we'd be bitter too. Though having never seen them the decorations were all my gaudy little heart desired.

We did have Risotto there before but it was a White Alba Truffle Risotto and amazing! We did have a mishap that meal though as the server forgot to bring my husband's salad until well after people were served.

I'm glad all the decorations were everything you desired!

I know the trials and tribulations of dining with a 3 year old oh too well. Though I must say that we can thank Casey's naps and last minute reservations for how we eat now. If we hadn't taken her that long, we may be in the ADR race with everyone else.

Yes on the dining report, and I already started it! :smooth:

Yum, that does sound amazing. Guess I confused the salad with the risotto.

Yes on the dining report, and I already started it! :smooth:
D'oh. Drinking my way over there now :drinking1

Is November your wedding????? If so (or even if not) Yachtsman is a great splurge. We'll definitely be going back to the truffle mac and cheese next time. Its far superior to the risotto.
Yes November 11 :) I actually squeezed it into my weekend trip in June since I didn't want to wait that long to try the amazing food again.
