Frustrated about Ohana

I have never been able to eat at Ohana. Doesn't matter if I try at 180 days out, and then try 3 or 4 times a day until arrival...I never get it. So, for my November trip, I have another place booked. My question is----If I am able to get Ohana once I am there, for the same day.....and I book it real quick....will I still be charged the 10 dollars each for not going to my original reservation?? I know this is unlikely...from past experience...but there is always hope.

First, have you used the Touring Plans reservation finder? I have had great luck in getting reservations when they opened up. I got an Ohana reservation for Halloween night well after my 180 days was up. You may want to give it a shot if you haven't already.

As far as the charge. I usually just call the dining line and they will not charge me the fee. Sometimes I have to call a couple of times before an operator will waive it, but I've never had to pay it. You can also modify your reservation and move it a few days out and then cancel it without penalty. I believe that still works but somebody correct me if I'm wrong. Good luck, Ohana is a fun dining experience.

I second TP- same issue with 'ohana but was able to get 3 for the day i wanted, just kept moving the time to the one i wanted within 2 months. 100% worth it!

Yes...I am using Touring Plans. But, so far...no luck. This is my first trip with only 2 people...usually have 5-7. I thought it would be easier to get. I will keep trying! But, I'll probably have a heart attack if I ever see the little time oval pop up!

It's not anything to write home about...I wouldn't stress about it.
I hear great things, and not so great things. The menu is right up my alley, so I think I would enjoy it. But...never once have been able to get a ressie.

Same here. Never been able to get a dinner reservation. We've been there for breakfast and it was OK. I have heard very mixed reviews regarding dinner (trending towards negative the last few years) so I don't worry about it so much anymore. If it happened to be available for a trip, we'd try it but I don't stress about it anymore.

If you can get in, you can do a few things. Move your original reservation (not Ohana) to a different day, then cancel it OR call the dining reservation line and talk to someone. They will usually waive the fee.

I have very often seen 'Ohana dinner spots open up the night before, when people cancel to avoid the no show fee. I would check frequently the afternoon/evening before you are hoping to go.

I just checked, and there are several tables for 2 available for dinner tomorrow. I book the day before or day of quite frequently and I also cancel the day before quite frequently! Sometimes we just don't feel like eating what we booked 6 months prior.

I hope you get what you want and that you enjoy 'Ohana! We like it very much.

Use the TP Res Finder.

I got multiple Ohana for 4 for dinner until I settled on 8PM on a Saturday (and had a great view for MK Fireworks).

I got my first about two months out and my last attempts were about two weeks prior before I finalized plans.

I loved Ohana; I hope you can get a reservation!

Check the cancelled ADR Thread. Coordinating with other members is a great way to find a hard to get reservation.

Not flaming you but we have never had this problem at 180 days. Been going for years. You must be doing something wrong or your day calculator is wrong.

Check more often. You really need to try this restaurant.
I wish that were true. I go on at the exact 180 day mark...even trying the day before just to be sure the calculation was correct. As soon as it opens for me, I do Ohana first. Even when it is later in my stay....I NEVER get it. To be fair...most of my trips have been with 5-7 people, which I think might make it harder. BUT---this trip is only for 2! I check every day...many times. I will have a great time whether I get it or not----but I sure would like to!

I have only been able to get Ohana once via MDE (that was a couple of years ago). This year it popped up for a day I wasnt planning on going. When I refreshed the screen it was gone. I was able to get one this year but that was using the cancelled ADR thread and the help of other members.

They must have been scooped up! Because I went and looked...just so I could see what it looked like to have a choice. No tables tonight...or for the next 2 weeks ahead!
