Hurricane Dorian / WDW Theme Parks Discussion

Yeah we got the call from the Airlines at 3p saying our flight was cancelled for Wednesday. So now I have to wait till tomorrow to call my travel agent and see if we can move out trip by one day and see if I can get airline tickets. UGH!

Your flight was already canceled for Wednesday? I didnt think they would be canceling Wednesday flights yet. I moved our flight the other day to Thursday from Wednesday and still hoping that will be enough time.

What airline are you flying.

I was scheduled to leave BC on Tuesday but drove back home today (Monday) to Tampa. Since the storm stalled, I was concerned I'd be stranded for 2-3 nights if I stayed. At about $350 reduced rate per night there was no way that was in my budget!

Disney will be refunding me for Monday night as my trip was paid for in advance.

American Airlines. They cancelled 40 flights already for Wednesday. So now it's a waiting game.

Did you try reaching out to AA direct? Twitter Direct Message is my choice for that sort of thing. I wouldn’t beat around the bush, I would just send them my AA confirm number, passenger names and the new flights I wanted and see what they say. I’ve found their Twitter team to be quite capable (although you may have to wait half an hour or more to hear back from them, I’m sure they’re busy).

Just so it's totally clear to casual readers:

MK: 8am-3pm park hours with 7am-8am EMHs

Epcot: 7am-3pm park hours
I wonder what the logic is behind keeping it as EMH and not just making that the regular park open? It’s not like the parks are particularly crowded this week given the storm.

If I wanted to arrive in Disney at night, I'm sure I could get a flight but that would mean wasting a full day plus having a layover. There are no more direct.

We're here on our Honeymoon but staying off-site now to ride out Dorian.

We were considering going back to Hollywood Studios tonight for Fantasmic but wondering if it will go ahead? I am glad we have Typhoon Lagoon open so we can use our water park options though.

My 'guess' would be staffing and logistics. MK EMH = only roughly 1/2 the park open. If they were going to waive off EMH and just open at 7am, they'd need to adjust a lot of schedules and keeping things as is was probably easier/less problematic. Surprised they didn't just waive off EMHs all together and open the park at 8am, but that is probably easier said than done schedule/staffing wise as well.

Orlando airport has bothced this miserably. First announcing on Thurs they were closing the airport on Monday and Tuesday and having to reverse that VERY premature decision. Then cancelling flights for Weds when they still aren’t sure what this thing is doing as it continues to slow down a don ship further and further eastward. Orlando may not get anything but some rain at this point.

If that is true, I can only hope that things change tomorrow cause out flight going to MCO on Wednesday was cancelled.

So sorry you cant work on this yourself. I just went onto AA app and its letting me book from NY and NJ to MCO for Wednesday. :crazy2:

It appears not everyone feels this way but I’d rather MCO be safe than sorry. They might have announced a closure to early but this storm was thought to be moving a bit faster at that point. Now it’s really slowed and they still aren’t sure what exactly it’s going to do. It is not an easy operational task to make a decision to shut down a major airport like that. Orlando also makes these decisions in conjunction with airlines and the national weather service. I’d hope you’d all rather have MCO or any airport close prematurely than risk everything and not close.

Unfortunately there are no flights out of PHL going to MCO on that date.

❤ Congratulations!!!! ❤ Check out post #1,011 on the previous page for changes to tonight's entertainment.

Sorry that just stinks. You would think that they would cancel all not just PHL.
Good luck for tomorrow. Let us know how you make out.

So glad we decided to fly down Sunday instead of Tuesday like we were supposed to. Looks like there is no way we would have been able to get here. The parks aren't very busy, had a good day today.
