Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

I live in Orlando. I’m just guessing I pay more in tolls than the average tourist.... by about 30x’s.
OT but talk about tolls...our local toll highway would cost me $52.12 to go one direction across the city. Total distance is 107km/66.5 miles.

Trade ya toll for toll!!!

PS - This is why I've taken this toll hwy exactly once in the past 5 years!!! I'll add 1-2 hours to my drive to avoid that cost!

If this is the road I'm thinking of it's awful. Going one exit away from me usually ends up being $20 or more. It's $4 for the camera charge if you don't have a transponder and $1 a km. That comes to $1.60 per mile and some of the exits are many miles apart.

On topic, I hope they get a number of these kinks worked out before my trip in December. We are taking family who have never been to WDW.

Yup, that's the one!!

I'm sure these are just growing pains with the Skyliner and it will soon be smooth sailing. They've only been running at full capacity for a couple of weeks and only a few days with 'real' guests who load differently than CMs.

Hope you have a great trip with your family in December!!

Rode the Skyliner today. It really is well done. 90 degrees but Goodale, all 4 we were on, were quite comfortable with a good breeze.

I reported this on another site as well, but the stops are mainly for human issues not mechanical, both by guests and CMs. We had 2 one minute stops and the second was at IG just at the operator’s console before the doors opened. We listened as the supervisor talked about the stop situation. The operator hit stop but should have hit the slow button not the stop button. And right now operators are erring on the side of safety and that should improve as they gain confidence in operating the system.

Getting off can be a bit tricky. You could stumble a bit because of the motion so watch your step. A stumble could cause a slow or stop situation.

Very informative, thank you!

I'm going to see if I have time for a quick joyride tomorrow, otherwise I'll be riding Friday from IG to AoA. Can't wait!

Thanks for sharing - hopefully over time both CMs and Guests get used to the system and there are fewer stops

If you’re not staying onsite and/or have a park ticket, you can’t ride. It’s easy enough to enforce with MBs.
Not everyone with a park ticket has a Magic Band.

And easy isn't the issue typically. From Disney's perspective, why have one more cast member than is necessary? And from there standpoint right now, it isn't necessary.

17 Min line at Epcot right after "Epcot Forever" ended. Sweet.
Just walking from the Showcase to the bus stops at the front of the park takes at least that long.

lt takes me 18mn using the shortcut and walking very briskly. Have to account for ride time too- so depending on walking pace, with a 17mn wait walking will be quicker for some.

Flashback to my August vacation. Had some close calls stepping out of ride vehicles although fortunately not falling flat. Maybe it was just because I'm getting old. At any rate should have remembered the advice someone gave me two earlier lifetimes ago, step off facing sort of in the direction the ride vehicle or gondola is slowly/still moving.

I'm confused. Walking where?

Even if you get to the bus stops, you typically need to wait for a bus at the end of the night. Maybe more than one and then get packed in like sardines. Plus the bus time.

What would be quicker?

I don't think the gondolas are meant for going between epcot and hs. It seems either walking or the boat would be much quicker.
It may turn out that with all the constuction in the front of Epcot and the closing time after the 9 pm showing of the new show that a lot of guests and AP holders will park at HS and go to Epcot early and then return to HS either for thier cars or to go to HS late..at least until the hours change.
It's a much shorter walk from WS to IG and a late night dark ride..sort of :)

Thanks for the link. I noticed in the video the lady having to fold her double stroller.
That's a bummer for us - we were hoping to be able to push our sleeping kids onto the Gondola like we do the monorails.
