October 2019 Check-In Thread!

I’m planning to buy tickets today!

If I can actually decide what I want, that is. The plan all along has been to get 4 day park hoppers: 1 day for the arrival, 3 full days. The day we leave would be a character breakfast, with a flight at 2 pm. I’m like thisclose to getting 5 days because what if we have an extra hour on the day we leave. But I know that’s crazy. And I should just do 4 days.
You can always add the extra day onto your tickets at the ticket booths any time before the end of your 4th day.

Just adding in. Booked my flights. I am coming down for business but adding in a few days at DLR because I will be nearby. So planning to be in the Park 10/30-11/1. I am usually with my family and best friend. This will be my first solo trip at DLR. Wondering if it is worth it for my 3 days to do Park Hoppers or not. The Halloween Party is in DCA, of course, on Halloween so not sure if I should just avoid that park all day and do it on Friday. Oh decisions!

Bummed to see them delcare refurbishment for Matterhorn and Small World for my dates. (Although I am guessing that's just to change it over for the holiday, but as WDW vets it was one of the things I was hoping to finally see at DL).

This is more of a real life question, but I figured I'd ask my October Dis folks-

Our DLR trip is set for Oct 30 - Nov 3rd. We have a dusk to dawn security light, and usually leave it on all the time. This morning it just occurred to me that if we leave it on during our trip it'll make it seem like we are participating/at home for Halloween. I could see if I can get someone to turn the light off for us the day of Halloween and then turn it back on -- but I generally hate asking people for favors. I thought of getting a smart light switch too, but I can't seem to find one that'll work for our switch (3 switches) that gets decent reviews.

Maybe I'm overthinking this and I'll just keep the light on. I know a few years back when DH was recovering from surgery on Halloween, I shut the light off, but we STILL got trick or treaters ringing the doorbell. So maybe it's a futile effort.

What are other folks doing who will be out of town for the actual day of Halloween?

Thanks in advance for the input. And I hope all those that are at DLR now are having a great time!

This sort of falls into the category of asking a favor, but would one of your next door neighbors cover for you if you gave them candy for the trick or treat crowd? We've done that when we knew we weren't going to be home on Halloween. Our next door neighbor had a bowl for themselves and for us -- just let the kids choose from two bowls and said one was from us. And they kept an eye on our house while we were gone.

That's a great idea! I won't feel so bad asking if I provide some candy. Thanks!

We will be making our trek next week. We have tickets to Thursday Halloween Party, then two more days in the park on Friday and Saturday. Should be a lot of fun. I'm not too interested in seeing SWGE (thirty years ago, I would have been excited out of my mind... but after the prequels and this last movie, I have a large amount of apathy towards it)... but I digress.

As always, I'm looking forward to eating all the food, and watching my young kids soak it all in. That's were the magic happens.

As a non SW fan and someone who does not get the whole craze I would at least recommend a stroll through SWGE. It honestly is very impressive theming.

We leave Sunday! I'm getting excited, but these recent posts about the app being down, the parks over busy, the lines long, etc are getting me nervous. We have 3 full days with hoppers and the Maxpass. We plan to do early mornings, rest in the afternoon, and stay late. I hope all will be fine.

We will be there Oct 20-23. Hoping the crowd levels will have subsided after this week! When we went last year Oct 28-31 the parks were quite crowded as it was so close to Halloween. We are crossing our fingers that we hit a lull in the crowds when we arrive this time.

Yeah, this crowd chatter has me nervous. We debated several timeframes for our visit in October - we decided to move things around to be there Oct 22-24. Should miss Utah and miss the most intense Halloween crowds. But, just like most other folks, we didn't hit SWGE at opening because we thought it would be crazy and it would have died down by now... I am more than a little worried that everyone has planned fall trips!

We're here now, arrived yesterday around noon. Holy people! We have come to expect crowds, and Saturday was definitely busy. We pretty much only rode Hyperspace in the SR line (3 times), once with FP, and IASM with FP. The villains dance party was really fun and Halloween Screams was great. We ate a late lunch at Rancho and the line was way out the door. We have the Halloween party tonight and then board the Wonder tomorrow!

Just got back from our trip this weekend. It was so crazy on Saturday. We managed though and enjoyed our selves. Any with Max pass just remember to keep refreshing your app and you will be surprised what can pop up. When we arrived every FP was gone for Saturday. With keep refreshing we ended up with getting 4 of them after 7 PM. Just be willing to keep checking and you might be surprised what you can get.

We have 3 day park hoppers and plan to use our Magic Morning on the Thursday. I made a 730 am res for Breakfast with Minnie on the Tuesday, but don't want to use my Magic Morning for that. Do you see a problem with this? I assume I can just tell the Cast Member at the ticket booth not to use our Magic Morning for the breakfast?

We’re arriving for our trip on Sunday, can’t wait! We’re there through Thursday, and headed for the Oogie Boogie Bash on Tuesday.

Checking the weather - looks like it’s going to be hot this coming week!

We are making our first trip ever Oct 24! Three kiddos (6 mo, 4yr, 7yr), hubby, two active grandparents, and myself! Super excited I've only ever done WDW and I have always wanted to do DL. The weather looks like it going to be awesome!

When rope drop happens with small kids what would be y'alls go-to first rides? Thanks everyone :-)
