VERY SPECIFIC QUESTION to “frequent” Disney Cruisers.

Now for MY question my definition of “Frequent “ cruiser is can you answer this question with a YES.

“We have done 5 or more, SEVEN or more night, Disney Cruises in the past 9 years?”
THAT’S NOT THE SURVEY QUESTION. A YES TO THAT QUESTION ALLOWS YOU TO ANSWER MY SURVEY QUESTION!

So, If you answered yes to that question-

Where ELSE have you traveled for “vacations” during the past 9 years? (NOT ON DCL). For the sake of length of responses only list 6 night+ trips.

The reason for my question was a family member questioning our loyalty to Disney vacations.

IMHO, your family member has a lot to learn about travel. Why does it matter how you reach vacation destinations? We've traveled literally all over the world on Disney cruises. Most are places we never would have ventured to on our own. Not only is a Disney cruise the perfect traveling hotel and resort, they take all the hassle out of planning your itinerary. Plus, we love not having to pack and re-pack to move from location to location.

With that said, in the last 9 years we've taken 6+ night non-Disney vacations to Austria, Bermuda, China, and France. We also cruise on Celebrity and three months ago we did our first 14-night riverboat cruise down the Rhine (because as stated above, we enjoy the convenience of traveling on ships). We also travel all over the U.S. every year.

YES

1 business with fun added in trip to Vegas
1 Princess Cruise
All the rest of our vacations have Disney Cruises & Disney Staycations (DVC & local to FL) because we love it so much

My family thinks we're nuts because we not only are almost exclusive DCL people, we do the same islands most the time. My answer to them when they question what we do it... "It may not be for you, but it makes us happy and that is all that counts."

I like to say that I’ve been very loyal to DCL, 37 cruises and counting. DCL has taken my family to some outstanding and beautiful places in this world- Alaska twice, Hawaii, Panama Canal twice, Europe, Bermuda and all over the Caribbean. However the last 5 years we have discovered and fallen in love with Italy land only trips 3 times at 2 weeks at a time. So we’ve cut back a bit with DCL (they need some new itineraries!) and look forward to the next European adventure.

I tell everyone that we've drank the "Disney Kool-aide" when it comes to cruising. The cruise is our family's major vacation for the year. The rest of the year is interspersed with day vacations. So over the past 6 years its been Myrtle Beach for a week and then day trips to DC, NYC, Phila (our home town) etc. to fill in the gaps.

The issue for us is work and limited time to take off. Summer is the busy time, with baseball tourneys, work is very busy in the summer and its cheaper for us to cruise in the winter.

Next year we are planning to take a 2 week trip thru Germany and France in the summer!

Hope this helps with your opinion poll.

Ten DCL cruises in total, six of seven or more days in the last 9 years (one 7-day upcoming in Jan 2020).

Italy 21 days (5 cities)
California & Hawaii (14 days) - this was to DL and Aulani - does it count?
Jamaica (5 days)
San Francisco (6 days)
Germany (3 weeks)
Germany (2 weeks)

On our European DCL cruises we had side trips of 3-5 days to Germany (DH has family there), plus some days in London on one of them. Several trips to WDW in that timeframe. Plus several 3-4 day trips more "locally" (i.e., within 1-2 hour flight or drive).

Hawaii (Hawaii, Maui, Oahu) - 3 weeks
Costa Rica - 1 week
Barcelona (Spain) - 1 week
Alaska land & cruise with Princess - 2 weeks
Eastern Caribbean cruise with Celebrity - 1 week
Western Caribbean with Princess - 1 week
Yosemite-San Francisco - 1 week
Northern Michigan - 1 week

Every year we do a 7 night stay in a cabin to get lots of fishing in. Sometimes we do multiple cruises in a year too. I think I just sneak in based on the 9 years since the last 3 have been on other lines.

Too loyal

It started when my married- living in Orlando daughter posted a picture of us at F&W with the 2019 logo in the background that included the Eiffel Tower. My brother said why don’t you go see the real Eiffel Tower instead of going to Disney. ( Now we drove 6.5 hours and stayed with DD and we have APs so it was a very cheap trip lol.)

And while there are a number of places on my future travel bucket list, Paris isn’t very high up - personal preferences.

I was just wondering about others travel experiences.
