I’m done with 2 stuffings - cornbread sausage and a bacon mushroom.
Cranberry sauce done.
Trying to work up the motivation to make an apple pie.
Definitely have to season the turkey tonight.
My sister is hosting around 45 people so I’ve taken over a lot of the food. My sister in law gets to bring a pie from Trader Joe’s ;).

After lunch, we will head to our family beach apartments 2 hours from here. Our snow bird tenants arrive next week so have to finish prepping it.
My dream is to enjoy a relaxing Thanksgiving - maybe next year lol.

Well this seems ridiculous:

I wonder how long this will last. We specifically were visiting DHS on a Sunday with EMH to ride this first... That's not until end of January so hopefully they get their act together by then. I assume it relates to getting it up and operational each morning...

A delayed opening is just about the worst thing that can absolutely wreck my entire touring plan for that day, including all the FPs I locked in and everything else... The early arrival is the only way to absolutely control your wait time, and this throws that out the window. Basically, you know everybody will just go stand by the entrance anyways so you have to pick between "wait around for a shorter wait & give up touring advantage everywhere else" OR "go elsewhere and come back and wait a long time". Oh well, I guess we'll adapt, this will no doubt result in hours of strategizing in my brain though - cuz that's just how I roll! This sounds like another "Hagrid's" situation all over again (in terms of unreliable ride systems)...
Well, that kinda messes up my whirlwind trip. Here I was excited to see we could hit DHS on an EMH day. We won't have all day because we fly out that evening. I'm not investing a lot of time into planning this trip and we'll be back there in a few months at least. So, how crazy is May 4th weekend?!

So all the thanksgiving food talk, I have to ask - Black olives Yay or Nay? We always put out a relish tray - black olives, green olives and pickles. But my siblings and I always fought over the black olives. I think it was our favorite part of Thanksgiving meal growing up. lol One year my aunt bought us a Sams size can, this was before Sams was a thing. lol, and we were in heaven. Just the plain pitted olives in the can. But I have not met anyone else who likes them. My kids, my DH, his family, all my friends and everyone I know hates them.

I like them and will also order them on pizza.

I do not, but I am also contemplating it with that 50% off coupon code! lol
I know, right? And then I ask myself, what will that actually get me besides getting to act all fancy?
Everything looks amazing except for the pecan pie. It's awful. You need to get rid of it immediately! I'm willing to take this bullet for you. Just send it to me and you never have to look at it again!!!! :rolleyes1 :smooth:
My son (mostly) made that. He had to jazz it up, so it’s chocolate pecan. Then it called for Kahlua so he subbed vanilla and caramel flavor. I usually try to test so I baked some of the filling in a ramekin and baked it. It is quite yummy. The other is apple, made (mostly) by my niece .

Love olives. As a kid it was always the black ones from a can, hated the green ones, we put them on our fingers to be silly. Now I love almost any but when I taste the black ones they taste like the can. Not such a fan anymore.
I've got a pecan pie in the oven now and the power went out for a while (high winds). Hope it comes out OK!
Oh, hope it comes out. We had crazy high winds here too.
My gym is doing a weight loss challenge until December. I decided to do it to make sure I’m only gaining a healthy amount of weight. Plus it’ll be fun to see how my weight and measurements go up.
Good goal, just don’t lose any ;)
A 12 hour shift for me tomorrow. I think I will end up with hospital food:scared:. The silver lining would be, other than a couple “call” shifts that I signed up for, it is my last scheduled shift until 12/21. I’m accustomed to working ALOT more. I had to use 3 vacation days and a personal day for our HI trip.
I hope that food is free. Employees who work the holiday where I work, get free turkey dinner. All 3 shifts. The food is actually pretty good and they sell some for take home orders as well.
I just have the free one... AFAIK there are no discounts associated with it that can be used at DL. I think even the paid one is only helpful for advance purchase passes to the D23 convention (and I could be wrong about that).
I have the free one, but the paid one is on sale. It says “savings on merchandise, dining, attractions, accommodations and more” as well as access to member events. 🤔

I’m on 12hrs tomorrow night. But the group text with the call list just came through and I somehow am first on the list for an EA. If I get EA’d and I didn’t get to go home to charleston because I was scheduled to work, I’m going to be mad.

I knew I liked all of you peeps. ❤️❤️ Haha. Must be something about our credit card personalities that also like olives. My kids and friends make me feel like I’m the only person in the world that likes olives. If it is just us 5 for thanksgiving I get no relish tray at all. None of them like pickles or olives so I don’t do it for just myself. Bunch of weirdos. Lol Tommorow we will be with 2 of my sisters and their family’s and my parents. So olives will be had!

Me, too! Non-discriminatory olive lover here. :rotfl:

Ugh! You guys are killing me...in a way not entirely clear our family is hosting dinner this year for both sets of grandparents plus a family friend. I know DH is up for the challenge but we are new to the cooking a turkey. I went to Costco again this afternoon (out of relish trays, out of rolls) and also our local grocery to get dip for the relish tray which I guess now I am putting together instead of just buying. AND I forgot olives! I think our standard for dinner will be along the lines of “good enough.” With the secret subtext of “I told you we should have taken advantage of the no school holiday and gone on vacation somewhere warm and not snowy!”

On our menu tomorrow for 7 people is:
Salad with goat cheese and walnuts
Lentil stew (also the main for my vegetarian sister)
Mashed potatoes with a crispety crunchety topping
Cornbread
Gravy
Cranberry sauce
Green beans
Cauliflower au gratin
Rosemary and thyme turkey cutlets in a white wine sauce
Sage-brined pork chops with a brown sugar glaze
Pumpkin chocolate chip cake
Brownies

I am cooking the gravy, meats, lentil dish, and mashed potatoes, all tomorrow morning. My sisters and parents are bringing the rest. I am hosting for the first time ever! DH had today off so he spent the day cleaning the house while I worked at my second job. I am trying to relax and go to sleep early so I can be up bright and early to start the brine and put the potatoes in the oven.

What time is everyone else starting their meal? I have five people who are supposed to be arriving around 1 p.m. for a late lunch, but my mom was saying they could come over midafternoon instead and visit for a few hours before an early dinner.

Since it’s just Dh and I we’ll eat whenever it’s done being cooked and probably snacking the entire time we cook lol. We’re gonna start cooking at 8 am. I’m throwing the turkey in the crock pot and it says it’ll take 4 hours in high

Just placed 5 BJs orders for 3x$50 packs and a $25 disney gift card.

Hopefully the chase credits stick! I didn’t want to order earlier as were going to my inlaws and then my parents and now I’m sure we’ll be home before they arrive.

I’ll be having two thanksgivings tomorrow. At the inlaws at 1 and my parents at 5. Our parents live 40 minutes apart from each other on LI and we live 3 hours away outside of philly.

Made 6 pies tonight- 3 for each house. Apple with crumb topping, pumpkin and coconut custard.

Looking for a Mac book on Black Friday.

I always add them to our relish tray and yep, they disappear way before anything else 😂 No one eats green though so I don’t buy those anymore.
All olives... I could just replace the turkey with a bowl of olives and be content... well... could is probably the wrong word. I just do that!!
There have been numerous years where I have had to lay down BEFORE dinner because I ate so many black olives. Seriously, as an adult too hahaha My husband gets so mad and tries to hide them. My toddler loves them too soooo probably what we are both eating for lunch while we wait on cousin hahaha

Look at all the olive love! Did anyone put one on each finger and then eat them off as a kid? I totally did that! I also put them on nachos. Sometimes people think that is weird. I know none of you will 🤣

OH @Judique I love them on pizza as well. I had pepperoni pizza tonight, but olives are high up on my list of favorite toppings!
