I know this isn’t a popular opinion with the people who showed up very early this morning. But I think this is the solution to people showing up earlier and earlier.
When people show up very early Disney still has to staff all the entrance areas, buses have to run early.
If there is no advantage to showing up 3 hours early it will eliminate all those things

Unless people get overtime pay & could do with the money?
 
They are making it impossible to plan, we will be there in 4 days! So sorry for the people who got there early today. They should have announced the new policy yesterday so people could plan for today.
I don't think it would have changed anything if Disney announced this yesterday. No one would have believed the new policy because Disney has made this announcement before, for opening weekend, and then they opened early anyway. This appears to be the first time that Disney actually followed through with their policy.
 
Question for u folks there at early opening...I get Disney is fully staffed but when they open up early does the park still fill like the magical Disney, is the atmosphere the same, the streetmoshere the same or is just like hey were open come in and just hop on rides. Just curious when they open that early if everyone and everything is so cheerful with Disney magic or does it take a couple hours for everyone to wake up and get into their grove.
When the park opened on Sunday the music was playing and the Christmas lights were even up. I didn't notice any Citizens of Hollywood but I didn't during the day either.
 
You cannot navigate a single page of this website without a pop-up ad. I shudder to think of how much malware has been put on my phone in the last month. But anyway, were they holding people til 7 this morning?
Downloaded a free ad blocker. It fixed it for me
 
Take this with a grain of salt because I can’t verify the accuracy, but I just saw a report in a FB group that a travel agency had a special event in DHS this morning. The person didn’t say which agency.


Just got the link to see the post for myself - wasn’t sure if I can share the agency so I tried to cut that out.

I first want to say that this totally sucked for the people that got there super early today.

That said, I get Disney's thinking in that the crowds were coming earlier and earlier and larger crowds were coming earlier with it being rather large by like 5:15 and that creates staffing challenges and potentially safety issues

With this new model there is no benefit to arriving before like 6:30/6:45 (just enough time to ensure you are through security and in the park by 7.

Again it truly sucks for the people that got there super early today but over time I think this can be ok (assuming the app holds up)

Wonder if that’s Virgin? They did have an offer in not so long ago saying book with us and get exclusive access to Galaxys edge.

Agreed. Just sucks this wasn't announced yesterday. In a week when the park will be opening at 6am I'm guessing they don't want to incentivize 4am arrivals. Of course, if this was due to the travel agency thing, it becomes more confusing. Sounds like the app survived? Can someone pls ask a CM about their plan for tomorrow?

Were the CMs still out who can assign BG? I’m thinking if this is the new normal the best strategy is to get in and wait with one of those guys, checking your app at the same time and taking whatever comes first?
 
So I'm assuming that when they open at 6am during Christmas, they will open the boarding groups at 6? I guess at least we won't have to get up at 3:30am but it still makes me nervous that with the increased crowds, we will get shut out.

Waiting in the queue now for ride... First time going to ride. Ive been following this thread since the beginning in anticipation for today. I have to say although I was here by 430am and there was no advantage to getting here that early, I understand why Disney did what they did and it makes some sense but just wish we weren’t the guinea pigs for the change this morning. But we still got an early boarding group (15). So I won’t complain about it. But the attitude of the people that were at least around me was very angry at the change and they were very vocal at cast members which made me feel bad for them having to take the brunt of that.

Disable Javascript from your mobile web browser and download a security app such as BitDefender. I agree that its atrocious. Every other page click would block the page window with a malware download.
