Zero Forky's Given - An August 2019 Dining Report - Completed 8/18

Don't you know she is talking to you? She thinks that as soon as she makes a video it goes on YouTube and her legions of followers start consuming it immediately
Oh! So does Gwen!!!! She honestly at one point, I think thought just recording the video was enough...

Maybe I will let her film some summaries and food reviews this trip...

Narcoossee’s, which I just learned means little bear.

Interesting choice.

Turns out the kid seated at the table that was right above us (Narcoossee’s has a second level about 3 steps up) had his ipad on the railing facing our table and it was blasting something.

I will never understand people.

Doesn’t that look just beautiful? Oh my bad, we never even received it. Our waiter felt bad and brought us another round of drinks on the house.

Yikes. I would expect that at like Applebees, not at a Disney signature restaurant.

Correction this had been one of our favorites, but in this case both the pasta and shrimp were overcooked so it really wasn’t enjoyable. Strike 3!

See my comment above and apply it here as well.

Always love your reports! With the times that we live in now, there should really be a policy across all Disney table service restaurants that earphones or headphones need to be used with any phone or tablet that will be producing audible noise. They could even keep a stash of one dollar ones like they do on airplanes for families that “forget” to bring their own.

We gave Narcoossees two chances and that is enough for us. The first time we had good food, except for the shrimp dish, which wasn't my favorite. The second time I just ordered soup and salad and ate part of my husband's entree. I think we only returned for the almond cheesecake. :)
We've been a few times but after this experience I'm pretty sure its been enough for us. I'll be heading to Flying Fish to get my seafood fix from now on

I can't believe they never brought you the appetizer. Did the server ask if you still wanted it? Especially since you were sharing your meal with Casey.

We went to Narcoossees once, 10 years ago and haven't been back.
No he didn't even ask if we wanted it after our entrees arrived. The whole night was just definitely off. May be 10 years before we go back again too

Narcoossee's was a weird dinner for us too. That's super annoying about the iPad. People were really very oblivious when we were down there.
Weird is definitely the operative word. Being sat at the IPad table should have been an omen to us to run far, far away

I have just over a month to convince you... I feel lately we always end up at Epcot resorts, I just have a hard time convincing myself to stay else where. But ugh the current price is insane!!
Good luck with that :P I think Casey and Jason are gonna do the 10K and then he'll do the half too. Hoping my best friend may drive down from Georgia and join us too

I mean they should all be like us we are pretty fabulous!!
Couldn't have said it better myself!

I've added the ice cream sandwich from Dino Bites to the must eat list for my trip.
Great choice!

I'm so with you about mushrooms! Funghi is just WRONG!
I'm not opposed to all funghi, after all I"m married to Jason :P, but those mushrooms can stay far, far away

Maybe I will let her film some summaries and food reviews this trip...
If you do that we can just make Hello Butt Cheeks its own youtube channel :D

Yikes. I would expect that at like Applebees, not at a Disney signature restaurant.
Perfectly said! Narcoossee's has never really felt like a signature place to us compared to the others and clearly the feeling is permeating the food and service. Maybe they should just call it Narcoobee's :earboy2:

Thanks so much!!!! I'm not sure they even need a policy, just need to do a common sense check of parents when they pass through the gates. Can you imagine all the people that could weed out?

Turns out the kid seated at the table that was right above us (Narcoossee’s has a second level about 3 steps up) had his ipad on the railing facing our table and it was blasting something. His parents were blissfully unaware and apparently so attuned to themselves that they couldn’t even bother to bring headphones. After 5 minutes of me making loud sarcastic remarks didn’t get them to turn it down, we asked to be moved
Good grief. Some people are clueless . I would have been shooting them what is known by my nearest & dearest as the "Stare" .
Really there is little better in the world than good bread and salty butter.

For an appetizer we decided on their Crispy Rhode Island Calamari.
❌❌❌❌❌❌❌
Doesn’t that look just beautiful? Oh my bad, we never even received it. Our waiter
Bread and butter can sometimes save a meal .
And I thought our server at YSH was so-so. At least we got everything we ordered.
At Nacroossee's price point you should have had several more Scallops! Not to mention the mushrooms😟. Like you I too can't stand them.

I have debated about booking Nacroossee's but have always held back. Since the entrees you got would most likely been the two we would have ordered I am glad we passed.

I was staring, talking loudly about them, all my usual tricks too. Sadly it did not work

Definitely a good call. Its been good for us before but after this trip it will be a while until we go back there again

So Forkin’ Good

Being the gluttons we are for punishment we started the day by trying extra magic hours yet again, this time at Epcot. No packed busses this morning but we hit the proverbial wall when we encountered a security line backed up past the monorail exit. I understand that they need to separate those with bags from those without bags, but they also need to separate people with “normal” bags from those who are prepared for Armageddon. As I very patiently waited with my purse that barely holds a phone I saw a full sized cooler, a stroller so packed the kid couldn’t fit in it, and my personal favorites the bags with bags inside bags 😱

It ended up taking close to a half hour to get through security, but once we broke free of line Epcot did have the only “magic” hours that had any semblance of magic for us.

We were able to walk on Soarin’ and The Land and still stop for breakfast before the park had even technically opened.

Breakfast? Did I say breakfast? Casey and I aren’t normally morning eaters but after our perilous morning we stopped in Sunshine Seasons for a snack.

Casey got a cinnamon roll that was delicious. It was sweet and warm and dare I say better than our usual favorite at Gaston’s.

Jason and I decided to share the Breakfast Power Wrap with Wild Rice, Sweet Potatoes, Blueberries, Avocado and Tofu.

This was such an odd combination of flavors we couldn’t help ourselves from trying it. There was definitely too much wrap to “stuff” ratio but all of the ingredients went surprisingly well together. This clearly isn’t for everyone, but I love tofu and it hit the hangry spot.

From there we tested some track

And apparently my husband tested my face :confused3

Then I braved Mission Space for the first time! I have a bit of motion sickness so I’ve always avoided this but was pleasantly surprised to see how tame the green (which clearly just translates to wussy) line was.

We eventually made our way around the world showcase stopping in Japan for some necessary provisions.

Which were candy

And a Mario sleep mask of course

Don’t tell me you don’t already have one

Somewhere along the way we’d made lunch reservations for one of our perennial favorites: Via Napoli! Side note it is National Pizza Day today so be sure to celebrate 🍕

Service here can tend to be rushed and inconsistent, but today we had the best service we’ve ever had. Enrico had been a food runner for a year but had just been promoted to a waiter. He was exceedingly friendly and told us all about his hometown. He clearly loved his job and made me wish every server in Disney was just like him.

We started with some bread and oil which I didn’t recall being served before.

This was perfectly fine, but we didn’t eat much of it not wanting to ruin ourselves for the star of the show.

What of course could never ruin our appetite was some beer.

Jason and I split a pitcher of Peroni, because why have one glass when a pitcher is of course more economical. #DisneyMath

Having made the grave mistake of branching out last time we were here we knew to stick to our favorites.

Jason ordered the Broccolini Pizza with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, porchetta, robiola, broccolini rabe.

This was a bit sparse on the toppings, but Jason was still a happy Napoli camper.

Casey and I shared what I consider the best pizza on earth, the Carciofi, with artichoke, fontina, mozzarella, and truffle oil. And in a surprise to no one we also added mushrooms.

Silly silly me! We added arugula of course. Creamy fontina, combined with earthy artichokes and truffle, and crunchy arugula all served upon a perfectly charred chewy crust is simply as good as a pizza gets. We were in Via Napoli heaven!

As usual Via Napoli was everything a stop to Italy should be. Good beer, amazing pizza, and in a break from the norm some of the best service we had all week. With our tables in wonderland card we saved $15.90 but more importantly after this delicious experience 5 forky’s were given.

After lunch the August storm clouds started rearing their ugly heads and we ended up running to Germany to avoid the downpour. We eventually got our poncho on and trekked to Norway as we were able to get an extra FP for Maelstrom

Wait a minute, where are the vikings?

Found 'em!

Up next, we’re comin’ home

Woohoo!!! Finally a 5 forkin forky meal!!!!
So glad Via Napoli didn’t disappoint :goodvibes
Jason certainly seems to like the taste test of your face. So glad he didn’t eat you otherwise we wouldn’t get to read about it or, well anything really! 😱😂

Yum!

That looks amazing.....really interesting ingredients but I can see how it would work.

Such a perfect start to the day!

Service like that just makes for a wonderful experience. :)

My favourite!!!

Reading this just made me add it to the list for my trip with Jack this summer!

OMG! bag check is the WORST at Epcot!!! Again, maybe Joe and I should put out a Disney Etiquette part 2 vlog about security...LOL!

but I love tofu and it hit the hangry spot.
Umm, no thank you, but I applaud your advanced palette...

And apparently my husband tested my face :confused3
This made me LOL!! It's something I would totally do to Joe.

after this delicious experience 5 forky’s were given.
Sadly, I cannot say the same for our last Via Napoli experience...

I finally watched Toy Story 4 so I understand Forky now, haha! I get the I am trash reference now!
I’m sorry the usually good Narcosses was a miss this trip but ever so glad Via Napoli lived up to its tried and true self!
We had a really great server in January, it always improves the experience so much!

And it won't be the last 5 forky's. Best meal of the trip will be coming up in a few posts

Jason does like lean meat so I'm pretty sure he'll never take a stab at me :P

That looks amazing.....really interesting ingredients but I can see how it would work.
It was certainly an odd combo - especially that rice - but it all worked really well. Apparently it was vegan too

Reading this just made me add it to the list for my trip with Jack this summer!
You guys are going back again this summer? That is great!!! Via Napoli is pretty much always on our list

Glad Via Napoli didn't disappoint! Wish I was eating some right now!
You and me both! Its National pizza day but for some reason we're eating steak for dinner :confused3

OMG! bag check is the WORST at Epcot!!! Again, maybe Joe and I should put out a Disney Etiquette part 2 vlog about security...LOL!
Oh you so should! Let's start now. 1. Bring only what you need not what you think you might need for a week long stay. 2. Unzip your bag before you get to the front of the line. 3. Repeat #1

Umm, no thank you, but I applaud your advanced palette...
I have a weird love of tofu, I have no idea why. Clearly it tastes like nothing but I love the texture of it

Sadly, I cannot say the same for our last Via Napoli experience...
Oh no!!! Service is generally crap for us but the food has never disappointed

I finally watched Toy Story 4 so I understand Forky now, haha! I get the I am trash reference now!
Woohoo!!!! We watched it again last night and it reminded me why I love him even more!!!

I’m sorry the usually good Narcosses was a miss this trip but ever so glad Via Napoli lived up to its tried and true self!
We had a really great server in January, it always improves the experience so much!
The server really can make the experience there. This guy loved his job and it came through in everything he did

I've long thought that Disney needs to create their version of TSA pre-check for park admission lines. People who know the deal - carrying a reasonable amount, proactively unzip the pockets in their bag etc. I'd even authorize a background check for expedited lines. Or honor TSA status. It's not rocket science. But then again, I've been behind people in the Annual Passholders entrance lane who can't remember what finger they used so maybe there just is no bypassing "stupid."

And - to be serious for a moment - I do VERY much appreciate all the efforts to keep us safe. I think I'm more frustrated that we live in a world where these precautions are necessary than I am at the procedures themselves.

Sounds like a great night at Via Napoli. I agree, the service can be hit or miss but Enrico sounds awesome. Gosh I love their pizza! Via Napoli is always a win with me.

This is my first ever "Mum and son" trip! What's a mother to do when her soon to be 20 year old asks her if she wants to go to see Galaxy's Edge? Book a week long trip, of course! :)

Oh you so should! Let's start now. 1. Bring only what you need not what you think you might need for a week long stay. 2. Unzip your bag before you get to the front of the line. 3. Repeat #1
I'm serious! I think a part 2 is necessary!!!

Oh no!!! Service is generally crap for us but the food has never disappointed
Last August service and food were awful which was a first for us there. Usually, we leave quite happy but not last time...

I understand that they need to separate those with bags from those without bags, but they also need to separate people with “normal” bags from those who are prepared for Armageddon.

100%! At Universal, you just put all your stuff in a bin through a metal detector like the airport and I wish Disney would do this! It seems much more effective and efficient!

We were able to walk on Soarin’ and The Land and still stop for breakfast before the park had even technically opened.

Awesome!

Jason and I decided to share the Breakfast Power Wrap with Wild Rice, Sweet Potatoes, Blueberries, Avocado and Tofu.

Wow that's a lot of healthy stuff in one wrap!

Side note it is National Pizza Day today so be sure to celebrate 🍕

You timed your update perfectly with this day lol! My sister and I celebrated by going to our favorite local pizzeria

🥰 🥰 🥰 IMG-4523.jpg

Jason and I split a pitcher of Peroni, because why have one glass when a pitcher is of course more economical.

I mean, you were only making the responsible adult decision!

We added arugula of course.

Wow they certainly didn't skimp you on the arugula!

We had a terrible experience the only time we went to Via Napoli but your reports always make me feel like we should give it another chance.
