FYI 737Max testing found another bug (h/t DoC)

https://www.travelcodex.com/new-boeing-737-max-software-problem-found/
This does sound like a minor thing to fix but that means more rounds of testing to verify that fix is completed as well. So it has the potential to delay certification again but I imagine they're still hopeful for this summer. Southwest change loophole could go either way still, IMO.

Thanks, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for one last summer loophole.

Wow that is a lot of information! Thank you for all of that! It's a great starting point. My mind is spinning. We have mostly flown Southwest for everything- except for flights booked for us by DH employer- so it's a little overwhelming trying to learn whose points transfer to who and what they're worth, etc. I did try looking at what was available for dates in the future to get an idea but didn't get very far yet. I didn't realize there were any non stop flights from Pittsburgh at all so that's interesting. I definitely have some work to do. I feel like the flights are the hard part. I also did some checking at hotels and was surprised at how difficult it was to find a room for more than just two people. More often than not, they couldn't accommodate 4 in one room, even when looking pretty far out. I'm hoping when I spend a little more time I find better availability or DS and DD will be getting their own room separate from mom and dad- at their age they'd probably like that, but I'm so used to us being together. I was looking at the AA cards from citi and barclays but was concerned because of everything going on now. I would definitely tread lightly for now. I need to figure out the AA, BA, one world alliance thing and get a better understanding of how those alliances work.
Yeah, Europe is like that for hotels. I wouldn't count on finding a hotel chain in the city you want for more than a double occupancy, so I'd plan on two rooms and hope to get lucky if you're set on hotel specific points. If you're more flexible, I'd compare doing a vacation rental/apartment to doing two hotel rooms. You can book some rentals right through the UR portal or you might find a non chain hotel with a suite or something for a reasonable cost.

It's more tricky finding accommodations outside the US for a family but I still think you're right that your flights will need more attention. There is usually more options for accommodations than transportation.

Has anyone seen any Amex (or any other offer) for Ticketmaster?
I had one Amex recently but it was for “support.” In other words, get someone to sign up for a card and that person would also get a Ticketmaster credit (think it was $150). But that was a few months back.....

I know we've talked bags for the parks before but I didn't pay attention because at that time I was a backpack person. I have a small Kate Spade outlet crossbody that I purchased as a "travel" bag and it was great in Hawaii and it's perfect for softball. I carried it on our last day at Disney and loved it, but I need a tad more space. I had the advantage of several pockets that day, but definitely won't need my jacket in May. DH will carry a backpack, but I like to have my things on me- various CC/GC/AP/DVC cards, sunglasses, hand sanitizer, meds, sunglasses, water bottle, phone charger/cord, pin lanyard and then my mouse ears and whatever else I end up with.

I was looking at eBags Piazza
Then today I found a Baggallini Town Bagg at Marshalls that I'm considering going back for: Baggallini Town Bag

Any opinions between the two. It looks like they'll be about the same size and price, the eBags having a bit more depth and possibly being able to carry two water bottles. I was hoping I could go bagless, but I'm just not there quite yet.

There's also several Loungefly bags I'd love to have, but I'm trying to be practical and money saving here.

Great explanation, I'm just going to be nit picky on one thing - @njcarita , the pop up doesn't make you ineligible for the card itself, but it's warning you that you are ineligible for the sign up bonus. For us as churners and points chasers that's essentially the same thing, but it's still a distinction I think should be pointed out since if you continue with the application AmEx could approve you for the card (and if you're breathing, they probably will!) and once you have the card you're no longer eligible for future sign up bonuses on that card (unless a special offer comes around without the lifetime language). This is unlike Chase where they do have language for some cards that makes you ineligible for the card itself, even if you want it without the bonus (Chase will flat out deny your application if you don't meet the stated criteria).

The AmEx pop up gives you a chance to cancel the application before you submit it if you still want to be considered for the bonus. Which is better than what AmEx would do before where they would approve you for the card and if they didn't like you just not post the bonus :scared1: Then you'd have a card you aren't eligible to receive the bonus on again AND just wasted spend that could have gone to another card.

I like the jail or purgatory analogy because now AmEx gives you a chance to see the error of your ways, repent, and potentially return to their good graces.
Thanks. I went back and clarified. I have been lucky and have never seen a IRL pop-up for DH or me.

Well, I found a good way to help meet the MSR on this card (not that I've ever had a problem before... in fact I tend to go through them quite rapidly!)

The Backstreet Boys are finally coming to Phoenix! :lovestruc

Haha, today my coworkers were talking about the BSB are coming to Wichita in Aug and tickets go on sale this Fri. I'm more of an NSYNC girl myself so I won't be going 🙂 Have fun though!

I haven't flown AA in many years. Does anyone know if they are strict on carry on size? My daughter wants to borrow mine and it measures one inch bigger than is listed on the website. I fly SW and have never had my carry one measured - so never really thought about it before. This is the bag I have.

That should be fine. I think one of ours is bigger than that. The determining factor is your boarding group. The have 9 groups they may run out of room by group 7 or 8 and you’ll have to gate check it.

MANY years ago I owned the Piazza. For reasons unremembered I sold it. (Not helpful, I'm sorry!) Travel bags that have several organizational pockets are a real detriment at the Park security lane. Each pocket needs to be opened and inspected, thus slowing you down.

I own and use another Bagallini for travel, and a different, small "open" style, sans extra compartments, bag for Disney.

On our trip last month I used a Loungefly mini backpack. It fit everything I needed and it was only one compartment for security to check. I know you're trying to be practical and money saving, buuuuut I loved using my Loungefly bag and found it extremely convenient for the parks. Can you buy one with points?! :rotfl2:

Have you checked? In my experience many financial companies keep online accounts active long after the person closes all product accounts. I believe this is partly to facilitate access to things like tax documents and partly in hope you still come back.
I recently had occasion to sign into my online account for a retail brokerage company. My accounts have been closed for 8-10 years but I could sign in.
I closed my PNC accounts and can't log in anymore. Gives me an error.

I spent way too much taking my nieces to see them, Britney Spears and N’Sync back in the day. That was actually my wedding gift to junior bridesmaids, ie nieces, when Shaggy opened for BB in 2000.

SW Performance Biz Update: For those who have recently met the MSR, received your SUB and may be over the 90 days (say like around early Oct 2019) , there may be an opportunity to still get the upgraded 100k RR, $25k MSR in 6 month offer, if you are interested using the typical upgraded offer match request approach. It may be YMMV so no promises! If you have questions, please feel free to PM me.

I like Kipling or Le SportSac crossbodies because they are so lightweight and water repellant. Maybe Kipling has a more comfortable strap. I hated the Kipling backpack and sold it after one trip. For Christmas, I got a Kavu cross backpack which I love. Doesn’t hang on my neck, not too many pockets, not embarrassing for my husband or kids to carry. Will try it in March.

I can't buy a backpack  I have a perfectly good Mickey Mouse backpack that I bought with the excuse I would use it at Disney. I got called out when I didn't pack it last month

I may have a bag addiction problem :rolleyes1

My daughter has a perfectly cute Mickey backpack that's smaller that I could use because she wants a "belt bag" (come on, let's call it what it is, a fanny pack! lol). I definitely want to downsize and I like the crossbody because I didn't have to remove it for rides or to access anything.

This one is very much calling out to me though
