I was offered regular BGs until after 8:01. There’s definitely some variability.

yesterday’s magical enhancements changed how the app works on my phone. It’s now going back to the fireworks boot up screen most times when I switch to safari to watch the time.gov count down. That will mean my process needs to change.

Today's practice run was smooth, except I purposely woke up DS11 from his slumber so he could practice. Both had the app open. I gave the count down, and planned to hit FOM after about a second. He went right on, so he got to practice with no red JBG, had him go to My Status and then blue JBG. He got the Something went wrong popup and I got to show him to x out and go through the steps. I personally had no issues, couple of popups on tries 5, 7, 12, whatever. Had him practice hard close and reopen. Seems ready to go. So, we are set for Thursday. Except DS15, who doesn't really care about SW, just groans in bed. He'll end up being the one screaming "what do I do?" and end up getting a BG for just him and screwing up the rest of our attempt with a popup we never saw (about him being in one but not the rest of us), and then we'll freeze, unprepared for what that looks like and scrambling to fix it. THAT would be the only thing that I can easily foresee that would bring unexpected BG results. Otherwise, practice is a good way to work through muscle memory and app sightlines.

I was able to not get the Join.. till about 8:01 a.m. from home and was already into backup allotment at that time. I was actually on mobile data for the first time.

Next time you can practice compare your phone clock to a world clock website to see if they match. That maybe the difference

At 8:32 I was offered a back up boarding group. At 8:35, I was not. Force closed in between both.

I can’t believe how late these are going!!

Practicing from home for my day there THIS THURS(!) and woke up exactly at 8am this morning. Yikes! iphone by my side and on, so I unlocked it, clicked on Disney app, and the "stalled" blue castle appeared so figured all was lost, but then after about 10 seconds, it seemed to "refresh" w castle again but not with fireworks (whew), then in another 10 seconds the "Find Out More" page came up, but again there was scrolling bc the RotR pics weren't uploaded yet. Kept pulling down w thumb to refresh AND kept clicking on "Find Out More" --may have been better if I'd just waited(?)--but voila, up popped the red boarding pass; which I selected (had been choosing "My Status" while practicing once the BG is red until today). Went to "Select All" then the "Not So Fast" page popped up. A few minutes ago I tried again and got the "Only back up boarding groups" notice. DHS Thursday will be cold AND windy---hoping this means even fewer crowds and hoping this lucky streak continues.

Great that we’re back into the 60s for regular BGs! I was not loving the idea that they were moving away from regular BGs. Also shows that they’re confident that they’ve improved something

I’ve been lurking on this thread. We’re not going to DHS until the end of May, but we’ll only have one day at the end of a Universal trip. My son is 11 and has been a huge Star Wars since he was 3. I seriously considered canceling the Disney portion of the trip when backup BGs were going in minutes. I’m so glad that the backup groups are lasting longer. We’ll still manage our expectations, but I feel like at least we have a chance to ride. Thanks to all of you that have shared your experiences! They’re super-helpful to those of us who are still planning our visit to GE.
