I love credit cards so much! v3.0 (see first page for add'l details)

If you have any information I'd love to have it. I'm so worried about DS. He has had a good year but we need momentum.

I heard back and she's using Easy Peasy, which she would have used when she homeschooled her daughter. She likes it because you can piece together what you want and can skip things like bible if that doesn't fit what you need.

She also knows several families using Connections Academy, Khan Academy, and Time 4 Learning for their high schoolers.

Hope it helps!

I haven't caught up since last night but wanted to get this posted. 😊

I would be careful ordering from amazon right now. They are delaying regular orders. Ordered a salad spinner yesterday that said delivery tomorrow when I ordered but confirmation email says april 21. They may be better about their own sticks/products but I don't know. You may be able to pay for expedited shipping.

So all be cautious when ordering non essentials from amazon. Needless to say the cracked salad spinner was resucued from the trash when my friend told me about the month delay this morning. I get it but I don't.
yes. Around here ordering online is a game of risk.... most places show 'no delivery times available' or no option at all- amazon is only shipping necessities I guess.... I'm guessing the delivery services get overwhelmed with all the extra orders. If i want organic rolled oats,I have to wait till late April and they're pricey on Amazon!

Can't say I've noticed much difference with my amazon orders in MA. Have had 4 orders delivered in the last week, 3 on time and 1 a day early. None of these things would be considered essential items. I have noticed whilst browsing that some items are quoting longer delivery times - 4-5 days vs 1-2 days - but am also seeing plenty items for next day delivery.

Do any of you feel like you’re using your credit cards less than normal right now? With DH working from home, we’re saving quite a bit on gas and commuting costs, parking etc. also his lunches. On the flip side, since he is home, I know the grocery bill will be higher. So it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.
Our grocery bill is higher since college dd is home now and she has different dietary restrictions than older dd (thankful that older dd moved home in October when her roommate decided to return to grad school as dd is now unemployed). We got takeout once last week from a local pizza chain.

I am the person leaving the house to do the grocery shopping. Should I get an Amex Gold, taking me to 5/24 (until July) OR is it possible to load my dh's Gold onto my Apple Pay? (not that I've used Apple Pay yet lol)

Nothing super secret here 😊 Just depends on somebody’s level of emergency cash and strategy and which card they’re using - so a personal conversation can help.

My general list:
  • Gift cards to grocery stores, Walmart/target, gas stations to use on future month’s purchases
  • Visa gift cards or MasterCard gift cards to use everywhere. (incur a small fee)
  • Prepay bills: utilities, cable, cell phone, etc.
  • Refundable travel (e.g. refundable flight or Disney hotel) and cancel once you’ve hit the actual MSR.
  • Venmo or other P2P payments with a spouse or trusted friend who will repay you. (incur a larger fee)
  • Bank account funding for a new acct (although these are getting harder to find).
There’s others I’m probably forgetting too. 😊
I'm thankful I only have a small msr to meet right now..... but I intend to prepay my electric bill soon....

Yes. I have spent almost every cent this month out of my budget on grocery and supplies (hello tp) to ensure we have enough in case the supply chain is broken in all this mess. It makes me think, and rethink what I've spent on in past months, and what I really find important.

India has ordered a "complete" lockdown for a minimum of 21 days, effective midnight local time tonight.

This is very likely to impact a lot of call centers and customer support operations, including ones used by many banks and airlines. Anecdotally, we've already been seeing Chase SM response time slip from the usual within a day to 2-3 days.

Apple pay is an option if it's accepted. I don't do any apple so I'm pretty oblivious.

Why don't you just swipe his card? Chances are pretty slim anyone will call you on it. No one asks for ID anymore at least in my world. Plus most of the time others don't even handle your card.

I give my daughter various cards to pay stuff for me and there is never a question and we have different last names. I've used her card with her name on it repeatedly. I would just be ready with your card if you did get questioned. 'oops - that's my husband's card - here's mine'.

And, I'm off to Costco to survey if it's safe to enter. I have my safety supplies ready, gloves, wipes, and plans on how to handle the products on my return home. Much will remain in the van - I had to move 3 cars to get to the van, as it was parked further back - work!

I was going to do senior hours at Safeway this morning, but most of my list is Costco, so I'm going to try.

Son in law said stay home - he would get me what I needed. And then he would go back to my daughter and grands. No thanks. I appreciate the offer but I prefer he keep them safe. Plus he's 45 minutes away.

Sorry if this offends anyone.

It's incredible to me how much I've spent on groceries and medical (just OTC medicines in the event one of us gets sick and we can't go out).

It's also amazing how often I'm running the dishwasher eating three meals a day at home. There's only two of us!

Good for them. Meanwhile we are hearing a different message here. India makes one of my prescriptions. CVS left me a message to refill it a month early a few days ago. I jumped on that and also opted for delivery. Informed Delivery says its in my mail today. That means I now have a 4 month supply and I only have to consider my BP med as outstanding right now. Fortunately I monitor my pressure and don't always have to take a whole pill - if all is in range I take a half, if it dips low, I skip, and so forth - its a daily job for me and this is what my doctor has found works best for me. It's also gone to generic after being on the market for a long time so not as expensive and more easily obtained.

There’s a big petition about allowing partners in for labor and delivery during this time. I’m not going to post the link but it’s easy enough to find by doing a google search if anyone is interested in signing it. I’m not sure how much good it will do but my doctor was actually the one that mentioned it at my appointment this morning. I can’t imagine being in the room by myself with the anxiety I have that causes me to faint/get light headed.

I had to run my dw this morning and I have to buy pods when I go out. There's only two of us and it has increased the kitchen mess. We are overspending but I think it will even out as we had quite a budget that was going to carry out, mostly daughter but also me.

I put all of DH's cards on my apple pay and use when making MSR. I haven't had a problem yet.

Right now, just 2 of us and running the dishwasher once a day and occasionally twice. When DS is back it will probably go up. I chanced into buying pods at Meijer on sale prior to my trip and all the news. Then went to Costco and they were on sale so I bought there also. So before everything happened, I had over 200 pods. Not hoarding just frugality, I normally buy when I see sales on non-perishable items that I know will get used.

We live on LI, today was the first my DH worked from home. His company told them to take their laptops home, they share printers so that’s in the office.
On a conference call today he was told they can go into the office if they need to get files etc, just couldn’t work from there.

shutting NY down In my opinion isn’t doing any good, other than killing businesses and economy. People are still getting together here...And the pictures of NYC over the weekend are crazy, definitely practicing not social distancing.

I live in NYC and am considered essential so have been going into the office every day and believe me when I say there is a huge difference day to day. I haven't seen the streets this deserted since 9/11. On my subway commute yesterday what would have been a packed car had all of me and one other lady on it all the way until the first major hub station in my borough, when 2 people got on.

Are idiots still gathering and treating this like it's a snow day or something, of course. We need more restrictions tbh. But there are far fewer people out and about than normal. The crappy weather is probably helping, admittedly. I am just praying that admin at my agency will give us the go ahead asap to work from home because my whole support team has access now and most others here are working from home now.

did you hear anything about the tix yet? I'm waiting till closer to our trip date to call or fill out the online form
I received a denial this morning of my UO tickets refund request from Chase via email. I had filled out the online form after the cycle of phone on hold/hangups.
Here was the denial.
"We reviewed your request and advocated on your behalf with Universal Orlando US, but your travel dates and/or destination are not covered by the latest waiver policy issued by Universal Orlando US."

This flies in the face of what UO told me on the phone. They said no money changed hands between Chase and them until I activate the vouchers. Also it states my travel dates/destination are not covered. Uhh...the park is closed during my dates.

My other problem with not being able to talk with anyone is I have no idea of the expiration dates of these tickets. Nothing is on the voucher and UO says they can't help with dates b/c I only have vouchers.

Funny, I was the one who got light-headed and had to sit down (and at the time, I was actually assisting until the doctor became available). Wife did fine

I rope dropped HEB today. Disney prepared me well for this. Met the Q1 on my DiscoverIt. Got in line around 7:30, way back behind the store (which includes several little shops in the strip center) and got into the store at 8:48. Out just before 10:30 with almost everything. We were going to do Costco as well after dropping stuff at home, but at 11:20 that line was still around the building so we ditched that plan and will rope drop it tomorrow I think. Stopped in to Whole Foods and that was depressing, but managed to get some queso that I hope is good. I love the queso at Costco, but since that wasn't happening today trying to be flexible.

I can't say I have ever set an alarm to go stand in line to enter a grocery store. That's Disney World level stuff.

Our county will enforce shelter in place beginning tonight.
