Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

For some, sure. But that’s not with all people that are willing to go to Disney if they open soon. You don’t really have to wander far down the street to realize that there was a very good chance Disney was never going to reopen without certain guidelines in place. First question people that don’t flock to Disney forums ask me is“When do you think Disney will open?”, not “Do you think Disney will require masks, reduced capacity and social distancing guidelines when they open?” Disney will have no issue whatsoever filling their desired capacity limit the day they open, regardless of how many guidelines are in place, and I would bet a large sum of money on that.

People that don’t want to visit while having to wear mask, no parades, M&G, fireworks, etc are well within their rights to say they won’t go until those restrictions are lifted. But to assume Disney won’t have people chomping at the bit to go to their parks, even with those restrictions in place is mighty ignorant.

Totally agree. Anybody who didn’t expect this wasn’t being objective. But if somebody doesn’t want to pay the money for what the experience will be I get it. And that’s fine. In fact in a way it will help some if restrictions keep some people away since it will reduce capacity.

I mostly go for races (and go to Parks while I’m there) and just today put down my $600 for dopey in January. No idea what race or parks will look like but I’ll be there.

And to reply to my own message I’ll add even in January I’ll be surprised is rundisney marathon weekend runs exactly like it did last year. I am expecting some things to change. What those are I’m not sure at this point but I’m going in expecting some changes maybe in corrals or water station layouts or things like that. I’m expecting different but still expect to have fun while I curse dopey.

100%. You won’t see me criticize anyone that doesn’t feel it’s worth it to pay that much money for what they consider an equal payment to experience ratio. In all honesty, I don’t think it’s worth it. But I already paid for my flights, which I paid a price that would have been considered low in the 90s, let alone today. I used my DVC points on resorts that I love staying at that are sometimes not otherwise available, and I have an annual pass that I intend on getting whatever their partial refund turns out to be because my trip in October coincides with what my expiration date was prior to the extension, and dont plan on going back until next May/June. So, personally, for me, with everything already set and ready to go for prices that I would never beat, staying where I want to stay, having my tickets, and a very good set of FP set up, the only way they’d stop me from coming down is if they cancel my reservation, or if they say I can’t use my AP and have to buy $200 single day tickets

More than happy to go into any restaurant, not happy about gov't putting further pressure on businesses that have been beaten down already. Like I said, curbside and takeout.

Since contact tracing is part of the solution, you'll be doing a lot of takeout over the next year or so.

Typical grain of salt warning, but someone on a Disney FB group said she got a tracking number for magic bands today. Her final payment (30 days out) is due tomorrow.
Could just be someone forgot to extend the production stop- just like they forgot to stop June reservations

Someone else in here said theirs shipped today too. Could be the same person

I thought the same thing, but wouldn’t we have been hearing about tracking numbers all last month?

Without a doubt in my mind it would have been mentioned if it happened last month. Any little information from any Disney information page finds its way here at some point.

I don’t think so. Literally no one prior to today on the Dis had magic bands ship that we’re not already apart of a separate paid MB purchased prior to the closure. There has the be something to it. That along with the reports of “capacity limits” the reasoning behind on the hotels closing off reservations leads me to believe that Disney may have a plan to slowly reopen resorts next month. That could all change, but perhaps now that is their unreleased agenda. I could be way off base though 😜

It definitely could mean something. I’m just wondering if the people who say they were canceled got another shot at a reservation. It doesn’t seem fair to cancel some and still allow others but who knows anymore!

The Task Force phased guidelines addressed pools only by saying that there should be social distancing between deck chairs as I recall. I can"t find the document I read though.
Here is what the FL task force guidelines for resort pools say:
  • Space pool furniture according to distancing guidelines
  • Pool gates and pool chairs to be sanitized regularly
It sounds to me that they can open, as long as they sanitize gates and chairs and space them. chlorine is used to disinfect, so the pool itself should be fine to use. They just need to pay attention to the areas around it.

Id have 0 issue with anyone knowing I have, or had it.

Agre. Even though I'm working from home (though need to go into the office one day this week) still mostly, if I got it I would like my co-works and so forth know for their safety too especially if I had been in the office recently. We need to help each other and we can only do that with information.

The big issues with pools isn't going to be the water but like those state the area around the pool and making sure it isn't crowded. So disney may need to add a CM at each pool to watch capacity and if the pool area is "full" nobody new can come in until somebody leaves.

My June 10th arrival Magic Band order just changed to "Your Magic Band order is being fulfilled. We will ship it shortly and provide tracking details." I am at AoA, LM rooms.
If you are able to go would you be willing to post on the AOA thread in the resorts board what the status of the LM room refurb is, if you see anything? A bunch of us were following it but had no updates after 3/13.

There are always CM’s at the pools. I’m not familiar with all the pools, but at Stormalong it’s easy- it’s gated and you have to have wristband to get in. It’s very easy to track numbers. I see no reason resort pools wouldn’t be open. Values would be a bit tougher, but doable.

I think most pools need wristbands but I don't think there is often a dedicated CM watching crowd levels. Would likely need one since you wouldn't want to put that on the lifeguards. Certainly possible but will just need some extra attention to numbers.

My local brewery has an upstairs patio and they are open and with the nice weather that is getting a lot of people. Their current policy is you can only be on the patio if you have a chair And they can control number of people by number of chairs. Pools might be able to do something similar but clearly would be harder. It is doable absolutely just a matter of creating a policy and letting lifeguards or another CM enforce it.
