Resort Change by Disney

Judging by your countdown in your signature, we're supposed to be at POFQ around the same time! We're in the same boat - completely unsure what's happening or what our options are. Even our TA doesn't know what to do at this point, and recommended we just wait as long as possible to do anything. I'm concerned if we wait too long, we won't be able to find availability at other resorts. We're going the week after Thanksgiving.
Sounds like we’ll be there at the same time! We’re going 11/27-12/9 and we’re supposed to stay at FQ. I called earlier today and was given the option of CBR or CS. I went with CS and chose not to inquire about an upgrade, was just happy to have a resort garunteed.
 
So relieved. After 12 hours on hold yesterday and another 8 today was able to make it through the first guest services line (thanks everyone for posting!) That I was dialing randomly all day. CBR reservation July 18-26 changed to Contemporary July19-26 so my daughter can still go to her rescheduled dance recital. Good luck to all still on. Keep trying. I almost gave up several times. Now, time for some Tylenol.

And a cm just picked up. Coudn't have been more than 5 or 10 minutes
Update: My call from hold to CM was 38 minutes and 31 seconds, about 30 minutes of that was with the CM. It was 35 redials until I got a ring. (I saw it posted again but here is the # in case anyone misses the other posts 407-939-7866)

Called about November, but thought about what several of you said here about August trip and had that in mind when I called. I was going to ask what would happen to our Park Reservations if I canceled our AoA suite (move from WL with a $300 upcharge even with military discount) and moved to SOG (eligible resort for early window, but I don't trust Disney tech lol). Didn't even get to ask the question, the GS CM immediately wanted to know why I was unhappy and looking to cancel, and didn't even want to talk about my November at ASMo right away. Told her about the hours on the phone and the hours trying to get park reservations and I was just tired and not happy that I paid $300 more to move from a deluxe to a value when our hotel was closed.

We got Poly!!!! For the original WL rate. Modified our SOG from 4 nights to 1 night, so DH still has that (and I'm a big SOG fan too) and he's also happy with Poly if he can't have WL. (We've never stayed Deluxe but this year was going to make the splurge).

About values and the fall months - here's my experience

I was offered either POP or AoA to replace ASMo. Told the CM I was good with either resort, so she put us Pop for the same price (well a few dollars cheaper due to the tax difference.)

I hope everyone has good luck! Definitely let CMs know you don't want to pay more for your resort. (I was so tired yesterday and ticked off at Disney launching everything for 2020 and 2021 yesterday knowing it would be a cluster, by that point I stopped caring and just found myself saying yes to the higher rate at AoA.) Woke up not really loving Disney today. The CM yesterday was lovely, but I should have waited for GS.
Today I'm feeling the love again...this CM was truly wow in terms of customer service.

If I have a reservation for 7/1-14 I know I get price protection to switch but can I switch the dates within that window, like make it 7/10-7/13?
 
I feel like I'm in the same boat. I was actually trying to be nice and not make our TA wait on the line to get us a change, but when I finally got through the CM told me he couldn't see our ressie because it was booked through a TA. That seems defunct at best, it's still MY reservation and my $$ paying for it. I mean that's fine we called her, left a message and told her what we expected or we would cancel (so incentive for her), but regardless why I can't phone directly after the booking was already made seems ridiculous.
I’m in the same boat, I called yesterday they can’t do anything for me booked with a TA. TA informed me has a family issue not sure when they can call. Lesson learned for my next vacation! Still haven’t been moved to an open resort.
 
I still haven't gotten a callback from last night. I know he said 5 at the latest but now I'm getting so nervous seeing all of the inventory disappearing. I'm going to call in an hour if I don't hear to make sure I'm in the Queue before 5pm if I don't hear back. Has anyone else that was told they'd receive a call back gotten one?!
We were promised a call back today, haven’t heard from anyone. So, I joined the line again about an hour ago.
 
If I have a reservation for 7/1-14 I know I get price protection to switch but can I switch the dates within that window, like make it 7/10-7/13?
Not sure about taking a night away, but I don't see that being a problem. I know for sure, if you don't modify your dates at all, you're guaranteed that price protection. I would try to just get that move and secure the price and then call back closer to your date to remove that last night.
 
So GS was supposed to call me back today after the system being down yesterday....and still nothing. What do you all think the chances are that they'll actually call?
 
We are booked through a TA but thought I would try anyway. Called the magic number rang on the first try and I got to someone in 5 min. Unfortunately as I suspected they could not modify my reservation since I am booked with a agent. She did tell me however that they were moving people to same level resorts at a price protection
 
Oh, one piece of news: the first cast member I talked to (who was holding with me for guest services) got an e-mail mid-wait with a matrix of who should move where with price protection. She was able to make the change without having to finish the 3 hour hold for guest services. So maybe that'll help some folks?

After about 30mins of more waiting she came back on to ask if we'd be OK with a single resort stay instead of a split stay, and I said "it depends, what's available?" After talking a bit, she said that it would be better if I spoke with GS after all, because they already have a comparable substitute resort package picked out for us. And now I'm back on hold for GS.

But Huh? GS already as a comparable substitute resort package picked out for us? Has anyone else heard something like this? And if it's already picked out for us, why don't they just email the info to us?

Here's my update!
At 4:30 I decided to start calling back since I was told I'd get a call back by 5:00 and I hadn't yet. On my husband's phone I was calling the direct guest services line shared here, and on my phone the regular line. I connect to the regular line in about 15 tries but it said it was a 2 hour wait just to then eventually get transferred to guests services, so I kept my phone on hold while I continued to use my husband's phone to connect to the guest service line. About 5 minutes later I was connected and someone immediately picked up. I explained my situation and who I had spoke with the night before, and she put me on hold so she could talk to him to see what his plan was. She came back and said he was busy but she took care of me and was going to switch my CBR reservation for 7/13-7/27 to the Cabins at Fort Wilderness. I told he I had no desire to spend 2 weeks at the cabins, due to how far the cabins are from everything, and I don't want to bother for 2 weeks using the internal bus system so I asked if her if there was anything else she could do. After being on hold for about 15 more minutes, she came back and told me that she was moving me to a garden view at CR. I could see as I was talking with her that the move was made in my plans, and I also confirmed in MDE that the price did not change. I am very pleased!
 
I am now at the 4 hour mark for my second call. If I had not already been waiting so long and the CM “holding” with me being so nice, is almost hang up and try the secret # you all are talking about. Anyone ever wondered “what if the cm holding with me misses GS and doesn’t realize it?” 😳

Did they let you shorten your stay but keep the price protection? I was too scared to ask, but now that I know that, I might call back.
