Resort Change by Disney

Quick question for everyone: I had to change my resort to a tower studio Riviera from a room at the Boardwalk Inn. I am fine with the room being small, etc - just two person stay and could be a solo stay, - it depends. Anyway, the CM stated that I had up to 30 days to cancel, but I thought you had up until the day before for arrival for stay dates through October 6th - and final payment is due 7 days before arrival. Did this change because my resort is closed for my dates? Any information much appreciated.

We are booked through a TA but thought I would try anyway. Called the magic number rang on the first try and I got to someone in 5 min. Unfortunately as I suspected they could not modify my reservation since I am booked with a agent. She did tell me however that they were moving people to same level resorts at a price protection

Yeah that's the thing though I don't want a "lateral" move because being in GDT, there is no 'lateral' moderate move really. Also after leaving a VM for my TA this afternoon, she just sent an e-mail about the dining plan being removed and needing to make park reservations. I knew about the DP weeks ago and made our park ressies yesterday. I've been "sighing" all day because I just want to fix it and because we wanted to give someone else a boost to their paycheck I'm now at their mercy to what happens to our ressie. She also told us the balance is due 30 days before, which again means Disney is either not in communication with TAs or she hasn't bothered to read her communications.

UPDATE: Interesting. She asked where I found out that NBA is taking the resort over. So I sent her a news article as well as the link to the resort experience page on Disney's site where it shows CSR not open until Mid October. She said Disney hasn't sent anything about resorts to her at all and they only sent through that they removed our dining plan to her today with the updated reservation. --- The Happiest Place on Earth is Officially a Hot Mess!

After 7 hours of waiting, 3 yesterday and 4 today, we were moved from All Stars Sports to Pop Century. My dates from July 19 to 23. No additional cost

Finally on with a gs. Who thinks going form Coronado water view to CBR standard should be completely acceptable Told her I was not in agreement and she honestly said “we aren’t trying to give you value for your money with views, re just trying to get you in a comparable hotel”. Didn’t even offer a price refund. I guess at this point, I’m just happy to have a room.

But it's not comparable. That's where I think we're going to be at and I'm super disappointed in that, plus we're going to have to end up eating canceled airline fees I bet because where the heck are we going to go with tickets that we have to use by a certain date even if we get credit?

If you don't mind me asking, why is everyone so down on Caribbean Beach? I stayed there last year, and while it's a little dated, the location's pretty good and the rooms opening to the outside actually seems safer from a sanitation perspective given all the COVID stuff.

If you don't mind my asking, I know those are both moderate resorts, so what makes them not comparable? Just the water view vs. the standard room? We've stayed at CBR and it wasn't terrible, even though we were there right after they started construction a few years ago, but we haven't stayed at CS, so I'm genuinely unfamiliar with it.

Woah...called the 5277 number and a cast member answered immediately. Moved our November stay at Port Orleans French Quarter Standard to Coronado Springs Preferred room. $300 Upgrade for free. Cast member said it was smart to move as POFQ has no reopening date and as of today they can’t even book it for next year. Glad to be all set. They moved us this July from Coronado Springs to the Contemporary Deluxe. Very happy with Disney Right now.

I will say in this case the person is right it isnt comparable...going from a Moderate with Water View to a Moderate with Standard (usually Parking Lot) View is a downgrade in every sense

Same sentiment!! I called over 2000 times today. I was on hold for 5.75 hours and gave up. Finally got someone on the magic line and talked to someone in minutes who never put me on hold once. He moved 7 of my reservations at no cost. Thank you all!!

GS cast member called me back! We were changed from GDT to CR Tower with price protection. The resort is updated in MDE but now or tickets are gone.

This. My problem isn’t so much with CBR, as I don’t mind the switch to the resort. It’s just a downgrade in room type. Putting my in a comparable type at CBR would be fine. Especially if the skyliner happens to be running.

We have an August trip which was at AKL Jambo House and were moved to Poly lagoon view today.

The Cast Member stated that Jambo house was not projected to be open. While Kidani was offfered it was not preferred.

If you don't mind my asking, I know those are both moderate resorts, so what makes them not comparable? Just the water view vs. the standard room? We've stayed at CBR and it wasn't terrible, even though we were there right after they started construction a few years ago, but we haven't stayed at CS, so I'm genuinely unfamiliar with it.

To be fair the main complex of out laying buildings may be a lateral move to CBR, but we have a room in Gran Destino Tower and those rooms are essentially Deluxe rooms at a moderate price (give or take they are for the most part the most expensive moderate our quote back in January between GDT and CBR was nearly a grand more for GDT). We don't want an outside type room, we wanted a tower room. The rooms are larger than most moderates, and the appeal of the Tower for us is the room configurations which have more of an adult atmosphere for our resort stay. I mean we chose GDT over CBR when we made the booking so I really don't want a 'move' to the resort we didn't want to begin with kwim?
