We rode Rise of the Resistance on Walt's Birthday on our first Mother/Daughter Trip! December 2019! Updated September 19th!

Sorry

Next time I have a question about something I'm writing in here, I'll wake you up to ask ::yes::
:lmao:
Don't poke the bear @olafofwarmhugs !
We were next to each other but I wasn't dong anything right…Allie kept telling me to push some buttons!:P
 I can just see that.
Although if we get out to DL next July, I may make an exception and try a corn dog nugget ::yes::
You've not tried some at MK?
Yup, somewhere along the way, the app was glitching
and ended up showing as a Party of 1 instead of a Party of 2.
Did not notice that! :scared:
We were happy that we were seated in the front row...
Score! :thumbsup2
The ride was so incredible in such a surreal sort of way.
I keep hearing that. :)
We were stunned at each new scene and couldn't believe how many actual different scenes there were before the actual "ride."
Also heard it was quite long. :)
The only thing we were sad about was thinking that Nicholas,
being the huge Star Wars fan, would have LOVED it
and would have loved to have been there with us that day.
He'll get there... eventually.
Yup…we got up at 4 am and had plans to stay up until midnight, or later.
Smart right?
:sad2:
With such a short trip, this was just the way it worked out.
YOLO, right??
It's the way I roll.
508184
Cute! :)
This may be my one regret about this trip
because we never did get a chance to ride it
and still haven't since our following two trips were cancelled.
You will. :)
Sun just a little bright, Allie?
After breakfast, we headed back to the room to take a nap.
This may be the one thing that sucked about being at a Value Resort…
the whole time we were trying to rest,
the doors all around us kept opening and slamming shut
with the Mousekeepers going in and out.
It was super annoying and I didn't sleep much because of it.
Oh, that's too bad. Guess I'm not too surprised, though.
I feel like the inside corridors of the Deluxe Resorts are much quieter
for taking a nap in the middle of the day.
Interesting! I know the UOG says the Values are quieter than the Deluxes since the doors have to be sealed at the bottom to keep the critters out. But maybe not during the day? (Quieter, I mean.) Because there's more outside noise during the day?
You'll have to fight @pkondz for it! :rotfl2:
NO SHE WILL NOT!

That'd be nice! But... it sure doesn't look like it'll be any time soon at all.
I know....it's the worst! I should have gotten back from my trip with Jack this past Wednesday, now it isn't happening until next August.
The ride was so incredible in such a surreal sort of way.
We were stunned at each new scene and couldn't believe how many actual different scenes there were before the actual "ride."
And then the ride part was amazing too.
Once we got off, we both agreed that it was simply amazing
and we were so happy we got to experience it that day!
I'm glad it was such a great experience for you guys!
The only thing we were sad about was thinking that Nicholas,
being the huge Star Wars fan, would have LOVED it
and would have loved to have been there with us that day.
Of course we kept talking about how we can't wait for him to see it
when we go in July…and then, sigh, that didn't happen :sad1:
But of course, we didn't know that then
and were just so happy in that moment to have gotten to experience this!
Jack is SO excited to experience SWGE, even if we have to wait another year.
On our way out, I couldn't help myself from taking pictures
of the DHS Christmas decorations.
They are literally PERFECT and totally make me nostalgic for my youth,
even though they are supposed to be from the 30s or 40s, and not the 60s or 70s.
I loved the Christmas decor at HS so much.... totally reminded me of what I grew up with as a mid 60's baby.
This may be my one regret about this trip
because we never did get a chance to ride it
and still haven't since our following two trips were cancelled.
If we go in October, we are definitely riding!
You will love it! I was obsessed with the Skyliner!

I noticed the same at Pop....a lot of exterior noise.

:wave2: wow it's been over 7 months since we saw each other in Disney; miss you!

Random aside, did I ever tell you our dog growing up was named Allie?
Funny enough I had a beautiful all white cat named Allie
I had been texting with Ariane who was in AK with her husband Steve
and we literally ran right by them in our haste to get off the train and run to KS.
They had a FP at the same time so we all rode together,
though I guess I didn't get a pic of us :confused3
I bet that was fun! Probably no pictures because you two didn't stop talking lol. I bet Ariane and Steve were happy to finally meet Allie too ;)

I've said it before but Studios wins for Christmas decorations. Again, I wasn't born until the late 90s but all those decorations give me nostalgia too.

It speaks to just how perfect they are that different generations love and appreciate them :lovestruc

I'm sorry to hear you weren't able to get a good nap in.

I'm a terrible napper anyway. I worked nights for nine years and even after working all night could only sleep for 2-3 hours. It was pure torture!

You've not tried some at MK?

Nope. But they are iconic out at DL so I'll HAVE to try them…for research :thumbsup2

He'll get there... eventually.

I know…hopefully April 2021 :goodvibes

Sun just a little bright, Allie?

Such a nice "problem" to have :-)

Interesting! I know the UOG says the Values are quieter than the Deluxes since the doors have to be sealed at the bottom to keep the critters out. But maybe not during the day? (Quieter, I mean.) Because there's more outside noise during the day?

Really?? I don't find that to be true, at all. The walls in the Values are PAPER thin. You literally hear everyone's toilets flushing in the morning…it's like a weird alarm.

Plus, the doors of the Deluxe may not be sealed, but there aren't as many people walking by them either. And the halls are carpeted. Definitely MUCH quieter.

NO SHE WILL NOT!

:rotfl:

Aw, I'm sorry. All these cancelled trips suck :sad1:

I loved the Christmas decor at HS so much.... totally reminded me of what I grew up with as a mid 60's baby.

Same! :lovestruc

You will love it! I was obsessed with the Skyliner!

I can't wait to try it!

I wanted to let you all know that my Allie has finally joined the DisBoards!
Her username is @olafofwarmhugs
Welcome Allie!!!!! Make sure she knows the dining boards is where all the really cool people hang out :D

We had considered going to EPCOT this night because Neil Patrick Harris was narrating the Candlelight Processional, but after talking it over with Allie, we decided to skip it. She didn't even know who he was and I had seen the CP in 2015 but had never been to the Christmas Tree Trail
Are we seriously that old????

I got a salad…sorry @kastoney !
506952
:rotfl: I would expect nothing less. And even more shocking news, I actually had a salad for lunch today.

Our morning started out great.
Can you see the joy coming out of this picture?
507289
So joyous! Hope this made your Christmas card.

I'm a fast learner though, and once I saw everyone on their phones,
we went on MDE and after a couple clicks, we got...
507294
Wow! Impressive given that everyone else was at it before you.

I had heard that being the Pilot was more fun and I can see that,
but we had no clue what we were doing anyway and thought it was a cute ride
but nothing we'd rush back to.
Same goes for us. Well Casey and I at least. Nothing special at all. But I can't say that too loud in front of Jason because the Millennium Falcon is clearly spiritual.

At 7:39, they were boarding groups 10-20 so I though we were close,
but we were confused by the estimated wait saying, "Evening."
507709
I didn't know that they gave you an estimate of time. That's great but clearly a little bit off.

I feel like we are beyond the point of "Spoilers,"
but if you don't want to see any of the queue, skip past these next pictures.
I've been able to avoid everything about it so gonna zoom through to the end to keep it that way. Even though Star Wars isn't my favorite its rare to be in the dark about anything these days.

On our way out, I couldn't help myself from taking pictures
of the DHS Christmas decorations.
They are literally PERFECT and totally make me nostalgic for my youth,
even though they are supposed to be from the 30s or 40s, and not the 60s or 70s.
Loving to see all your Christmas photos. MGM is my least favorite park, but oh how I love it at Christmas. Its so my vibe and everything I'd want my house to look like if I could manufacture my own Xmas gear.

I'm a terrible napper anyway. I worked nights for nine years and even after working all night could only sleep for 2-3 hours. It was pure torture!
Oh, how I can relate to this... :sad2:
Nope. But they are iconic out at DL so I'll HAVE to try them…for research :thumbsup2
Huh. I knew the corndogs were iconic there, but not the nuggets.
Really?? I don't find that to be true, at all. The walls in the Values are PAPER thin. You literally hear everyone's toilets flushing in the morning…it's like a weird alarm.
Heh. Maybe because I'm the one doing the first morning flush that I don't notice that.
Plus, the doors of the Deluxe may not be sealed, but there aren't as many people walking by them either. And the halls are carpeted. Definitely MUCH quieter.
I'll have to keep this in mind if/when I ever stay at one.

Hi Kelly,

I'm so glad I found this. We were at Disney the week after y'all. You're moving a lot faster than me. I'm still on park day 2. I really enjoyed the excitement of Rise opening up. We were at the opening of FOP and was an adrenaline rush. Loved you pictures of the Christmas Tree Tail @ night. I caught them during the day but the lights really make a difference.

You have lots of exciting Disney plans for the next year. We'll be crossing paths in October. The only day I see we're in the same park is Saturday, October 10th. Hopefully we'll see y'all.

Make sure she knows the dining boards is where all the really cool people hang out :D

I'll be sure to point her over there, as long as you're reviewing, chicken nugs, pizza, ad burgers because she doesn't eat anything else!

Are we seriously that old????

Well, yes, but she corrected me later…rolled eyes and all :rotfl:

And even more shocking news, I actually had a salad for lunch today.

:eek: :eek::eek:

Wow! Impressive given that everyone else was at it before you.

Yeah, I realize now how lucky we were because there was a good 30 to 60 seconds that I wasn't doing anything. In fact, now that I'm thinking about it, I believe as soon as you tapped into the park you could get your BG but I didn't realize it until we were stopped at the end of Hollywood Boulevard!

Oh, how I can relate to this... :sad2:

Sadly, I know! You have even worse hours than straight nights. I don't know how you do it!

Heh. Maybe because I'm the one doing the first morning flush that I don't notice that.

TMI :rotfl:

Maybe I'm a light sleeper, but once you notice it, you can't stop noticing it. But I think it's even worse over at POP.

You're moving a lot faster than me.

Hello there!

I had this last week off so I was trying to get in a couple updates everyday. Once I go back to work, things will slow back down!

We were at the opening of FOP and was an adrenaline rush.

How fun! But no Boarding Groups to contend with!

I would do it again if I was going to be there anyway, but I wouldn't make a special trip for it!

You have lots of exciting Disney plans for the next year. We'll be crossing paths in October. The only day I see we're in the same park is Saturday, October 10th. Hopefully we'll see y'all.

I hope most of these plans work out!

We'll have to have a meet up in DHS!

UM, DOES ANYONE KNOW THE WAY TO THE MAGIC KINGDOM?

We woke up not quite refreshed around 1:30,
and by 2:30 were sitting out front waiting for our Uber...
509012

I am so new at this whole Uber thing,
this trip having been the first time I've ever attempted it on my own,
and here's where my "newb" status shows.

When I requested the Uber I said we were going to the Magic Kingdom,
so why the heck did we end up here...
509014

509015

Because, DUH! That's where they bring you…to the TTC :sad2:

I really should have known better and asked to go to The Contemporary Resort.

I guess it was lucky that it was still early and we weren't in a big rush.
Plus, I got to take a couple of nice pics from the monorail...

509018

It was still just 3 pm when we were through the entrance.
What a gorgeous sight 😍
509021

I even made Allie stop for some PP pics before we went in...
509022

Of course, I left my sunglasses in the room and I struggled to keep my eyes open!

509023

The pics in front of the castle were no better...
509024

Allie and I finally remembered to take a pic of our cute new Magic Bands...
509025

Allie's is The Little Mermaid and mine is It's A Small World.
This was the first time I've ever felt compelled to buy a fancy MB
because I figured I could use it for all my upcoming trips :rotfl::sad::sad::sad:

The MK looked glorious decorated for Christmas.
Since we didn't really have anywhere to rush to,
I took a million pictures of the Christmas decorations.

That's next!

UM, DOES ANYONE KNOW THE WAY TO THE MAGIC KINGDOM?
From here? South, southeast. Keep driving for 29 hours.
When I requested the Uber I said we were going to the Magic Kingdom,
so why the heck did we end up here...
:lmao:
Because, DUH! That's where they bring you…to the TTC :sad2:
::yes:: And now you know what to do next time. :)
I even made Allie stop for some PP pics before we went in...
509022
Looks like it warmed up considerably.
Did you and Allie leave your sweatshirt/jacket by the PP for those shots?
Of course, I left my sunglasses in the room and I struggled to keep my eyes open!
Just tell people you were saluting.

We made that mistake once too. Though you have to be careful even going to the Contemporary b/c they wouldn't let us behind the gate one time because we didn't have an ADR. So we of course just jumped out at the guard gate :D

I have the small world one too and love it! Because I'm a sucker I just ordered some more for our October trip. They were $20 now though. Thought last year they were only 10 or 15.

How fun! But no Boarding Groups to contend with!

No boarding groups just walk as fast as the crowds will let you.

I would do it again if I was going to be there anyway, but I wouldn't make a special trip for it!

I agree. FOP was opening on our last park day for a trip we had booked for Danielle's graduation.

I hope most of these plans work out!

Fingers crossed1

We'll have to have a meet up in DHS!

Yes we do! It will just be Danielle and I this trip so we can be more flexible.
