Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

I got an email from my travel agent around 1:40pm, letting me know that we had been moved by Disney to Yacht Club (with same view) for no additional cost. If I remember correctly, Yacht is usually $10-20 more a night than Beach. So I'm happy with that. Glad I use a travel agent!
They are doing a price protect for anyone having to move due to the resorts not being open. I never use a TA and actually ended up saving money, but if it were more for an equal room I would have gotten the room for the same price I had previously (thankfully the garden view room at BWI was more than the same at YC). It is helpful though if you don't have time to call I suppose.

Not to burst your bubble, but I don’t think the YC is usually more than the BC. Actually, probably less most of the time.

The Standard rooms are identical. After that there's no rhyme or reason to whether Yacht or Beach is cheaper for a specific date, for example:
Yacht StandardBeach StandardYacht Garden / WoodsBeach Garden / WoodsYacht WaterBeach Water
Apr 5-Apr 10$741$741$768$798$845$902
Apr 11-Apr 14$668/$680/$724$668/$680/$724$695/$711/$756$675/$692/$744$786/$799/$827$778/$794/$839

Do rooms 4163 and 3163 at YC have full balconies?
No but they have balconies. Due to the YC Facade on that portion of the building these rooms are partially obstructed as show in the picture below. The window highlighted in "Red" is the CL room 5163 with a missing balcony.

Rooms 4163 and 3163 are the rooms directly below 5163.

and I didn't know about room 5163, but I did stay in 4163 year before last and it definitely has a balcony (even if I never sat on it lol)
4163 seems ideal because it is a corner room with the additional window for light. I keep seeing conflicting info about the balcony though. Some say it doesn’t have one, some say it’s a Juliette balcony and some say it’s a full balcony.

Just to clarify there are no Juliette balconies at the YC.

Looking at the picture I posted above will show exactly what the balconies look like for 4163, 3163, and 2163. They are all partially enclosed due to building facade just like many of the other YC balconies.

I was told the exact opposite when I called to move our Sept reservation from BC. The CM told me I’d have to pay the additional difference if the switch was more money than our BC stay.

It is a full balcony, no julliette balconies at YC. I was moved to that room after being given a room that apparently maintenance felt they needed to come in to every 5 minutes to paint something. It was a nice room, but there was a lot of foot traffic outside and I prefer the rooms that are more tucked away (which is why I had booked a garden view in the first place, not a water view). I didn’t know about the CL room above, but I can assure you this one and the one below are full balconies, and I’ve never not had a full balcony there.

That’s when you call back and get a different CM, this one was wrong. Mine explained the whole thing, they had to submit a form explaining the move so while initial amount would look like more (if it was more) it would be corrected once it was processed and I would not have to pay more. She did this for two different rooms for me on two different trips, one for a BWI-YC move, and another for a BC-BCV move (which I later switched to riviera and am paying more, but the initial move was price protected). She said because the move is due to resorts not being open due to Disney it’s price protected, but if we wanted to move just because it wouldn’t be.

Kinda OT bc we don’t even know when and if SAB is opening, but I was wondering about how it is in the wintertime. I saw a review where a poster was upset bc he had been to poly in December and the pool was warm, so the next December they tried YC/BC, but were disappointed bc the water wasn’t heated/warm enough to swim at all. What’s everyone’s experience with SAB’s temperature in December or Christmas time?
Thanks.

The pools are heated, but whether it’s heated to a degree that you enjoy obviously varies from person to person. I think even more influential in December is the air temperatures. It can be pretty mild, but it can also be really chilly in December. Native Floridian here, so I rarely go in the water if it’s below 70°F. But you find folks from Minnesota and Michigan in the water in February!

I have stayed at the BC in December and the weather was warm enough to use the pools. The lifeguards told me that they had to bring more guards over since the weather was warm. It can be hit or miss but we were lucky.

Thanks. I wanted to make sure there wasn’t any difference btwn how poly is heated vs SAB. 😀
