Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

I was watching a Lou Mongello video dated 07/29/2020, and he's claiming that even though the International Gateway is open for guests arriving by Skyliner, the walkway from Beach Club to Epcot is not open. Does anyone know if that's true? That seems crazy to me.

The walkway from BC to Epcot is open. It is the walkway in front of Storm Along Bay and the Yacht Club that is fenced off until the NBA players leave the resort at the end of August. The walkway is open for Boardwalk and BWV as well as the walkway to Hollywood Studios.

I don't know who Lou Mongello is but he's mistaken (not sure where he got his information from). We stayed at BCV last week and the walkway to Epcot is definitely open, we walked to Epcot and to the Skyliner station 3 times each during our week. As stated above there is a fence closing off the walkway in front of the Yacht Club starting at Storm A Long Bay, but that's going in the other direction, away from Epcot. You can also still go to BW and DHS by walking the other way around (not in front of SAB & YC). :)

So basically Lou Mongello doesn't realize that you can turn left (like you are heading toward Epcot), walk to the Boardwalk that way, and continue on to DHS. He assumes you have to turn right (like you are heading toward Swan/Dolphin) and continue on to DHS that way.

Kind of affirms the old adage of "just because it's on the internet, doesn't make it true."

He was not completely mistaken when you look at the video in context. He mentioned the walkway was closed last week to Epcot from the BC and he assumed it was still that way this week. What he did not appear to understand is that there is a "Gate" that closes the walkway between the BC and the International Gateway that is now often closed after hours and before opening of Epcot.

He did not appear to be talking about the new "Blue" fence at SAB blocking the walkway between YC and BC while the NBA teams are at the YC. And your comment about walking toward the Boardwalk is also the fastest way to reach the DHS path when walking from Epcot International Gateway area.

Anyone who has been lately, can you tell me what time should we go down to the bus stop to arrive for rope drop at MK? In the past, we’d go down an hour before park opening, just wondering if that’s still a good plan. TIA

Question about the Yacht Club couch bed: I've seen plenty of pics of it folded down and they all show black straps criss crossing the matress. Do those unfasten...or do they just remain in place? I feel like it's a silly question, but also not since I haven't seen any evidence of them being undone. :upsidedow And I'm just picturing a fitted sheet over them and it being rather uncomfortable.

My boys used the daybed and found it really comfortable. I’m trying to picture the straps but it’s been a couple years lol. I know there were black straps to pull to convert it from sofa to a bed but I don’t think they had any running under the sheet so I’m guessing they are either on the underside of mattress or unclip. Sorry not to be of more help 😊

On our last stay at the YC, my son used the daybed and found it really comfortable. I honestly don’t remember any straps, but I’m thinking there were probably some there to hold the mattress in place. My guess would be they unfasten or slide off. I don’t remember it being a problem.

Thanks! It's good to hear that you both had great experiences with the couch bed being comfortable. I went back and looked at a video I had watched of a room tour and it does seem like they have buckles that would un-fasten. It was much easier to see in the video than in some of the photos.

I have a question about the Lafferty Place Arcade. Is it still there with the renovations that were done to Beaches and Cream? My son wants to know, lol.

We headed down at 7:50 and were at the bus stop prior to 8:00. The buses came between 8:00-8:15 and we were there in time to be scanned in prior to 9:00. Not sure if that timing will continue to work as crowds get larger or not.

Yes it is there but the size was reduced when Beaches & Cream was expanded. Also don't expect it to be open any time soon. The arcades are on the long list of Temporarily Unavailable at this time:

The following amenities and experiences are not available during the initial reopening period:
  • Arcades
  • Campfires
  • Character experiences
  • Dog parks
  • Electrical Water Pageant
  • Marina rentals
  • Playgrounds
  • Spas, salons and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Right, thank you! We won’t be going to WDW anytime soon...a year and a half at the earliest. My son saw a video tour of the Beach Club over the weekend and saw Lafferty Place and was excited about it, so I wanted to see if it was still in existence.
