News Round Up 2020

I got the 35% off code in my email but when I go to check dates it gives me that garbage about my last name not matching whatever records it has on file.

I remember this used to happen to people and it would have the code attached to some random relative connected to their MDE account.

Why do you have to make everything so impossible, Disney?

I'm sure there's a writer on their pile that can come up with a creative "pass the torch" storyline.

I think whatever the storyline is, it was written before his death. Knowing that he was undergoing treatment during filming over the last four years, I don't think anyone at Disney/Marvel is scrambling right now.

No, all the stories out there state that no one involved in the production of the movies knew of his diagnosis or treatment. He kept it extremely private. The director of the next Black Panther stated that he had an entire script ready to go that now needs to be completely changed. So yes, I do think that a Disney/Marvel is scrambling. Chadwick didn’t have to tell anyone, and it seems that’s the way he went about it.

So my guess is the next film will quietly be pushed back a year or so to adequately come up with a solution for the film that respects Chadwick.

Edited to add an article supporting above:

Let's remember that he was already sick when Black Panther was filmed. Sick, diagnosed and undergoing treatment. Family have released in their statement after his death that he was filming between treatments. While WE may not have known about his illness, Marvel/Disney did. And there was already a sequel planned knowing he may not live to make that film. I truly believe there has been a contingency plan in place all along.

For me? I would love to see Nakia or Okoye take up the Panther mantle, and Shuri become Iron Heart. But I think the powers that be aren't in a hard spot at all, Chadwick Boseman's death was a known likelihood and they had time to plan (with his input even) for what BP2 would look like knowing he probably wouldn't make the movie himself.

I've read that they didn't know, either. Not even Feige. Ryan Coogler wrote that he didn't have any idea and had been writing BP2 for him.

I received an email with an offer code for Pop Century this morning, even though my family can't fit in a room at Pop, ha. I'm in NY.

I don't know if it's everyone. But it's one of those offers with a code.
Interesting .. I just got a code too .., but it advertises just Pop Century - $119/night (which is significantly ($30-40/night) better than the regional discount (which I can use) I was pricing out).

When I go to look at the deal .. looks like it is for ANY hotel (not just Pop) . .and oddly Pop is not available for the dates I was looking at (Nov. 5 - 10) .. but it IS available for the "regional" discount at $154/night.

So basically seems like this pin code deal is about $30-40/night cheaper than the regional discount IF there is room availability (which seems vastly different from the regional room availability (as expected)).

So these pin codes are probably very limited room quantities I’m guessing.

I have some pretty good availability with my code.

I'm almost tempted, but I need a better package. Room Only isn't going to get me down there for $1000/day. (not including travel)

I see now what you mean, I hadn't clicked the link to see that there are others included.

I put in some arbitrary dates for the end of September and it gave me CBR at $205, CR at $336, Yacht at $368, Cabins at $306, Riviera at $467, GF at $452, then a bunch of the villas. Boulder Ridge at $361.

I stayed in CBR last year at $180 so I dunno. The deluxe prices look less crazy than normal but probably not enough to convince my DH. I think I'd still rather ride it out until 2022 and save up for 2 nights at the renovated Poly with a split stay somewhere else, assuming all operations are back to normal by that point.

BUT if it was just the two of us, staying in Pop, and only paying for tickets for DH and I.... I'd think about it with those current ride wait times. But I can't justify dragging three kids plus three more park tickets for that right now.

That's crazy. And I agree with PP that if they didn't have any kind of contingency in place, we will probably see the release date pushed out. I'll hold out hope for a Nikia/Okoye panther and the introduction of Iron Heart :)

Yep .. that's my debate .. the "value" may just not be there yet for a full family "vacation" yet, but is tempting for the wife and I for our anniversary for a few nights. The only issue is .. we have a "free" 3-night stay at a Hilton Vacation property that we didn't get to use as scheduled in June (if we sit through the timeshare spiel) that I think is much better used when the kids don't have to sit through it as well. :). So IF we go to Orlando in November .. we'd probably stay at Parc Soleil.

From the story I posted earlier, Feige found out he was sick an hour after he died.
While WE may not have known about his illness, Marvel/Disney did.

With no real on site benefits I'd need more than 35% off to pull me away from the Fairfield. We have a convention rate for January that's about half off at YC and I'm still wishy-washy on whether we should be staying onsite.

I feel like there are zero perks for staying onsite right now unless you're an AP holder and need to in order to book parks. Or did I miss that availability is easier for APs now? I've been out of the loop lately.

Basically it's reliable-ish park transportation* and free Magic Bands**
*Unless you're at Poly
**Offer not valid after 12/31

APs are still 3 at a time unless you have a reservation.

For me its always transportation. I am too young to rent a car. Magical Express and onsite transportation will always be the biggest perk for me. I have never had any major transportation issues either.
