QOTD: What is you best post-running celebration meal?

Pizza is my go-to celebration meal. Not sure of the year, staying at Saratoga Springs. We bought a stack of frozen pizzas on the way down and hosted the post-race celebration in our unit. Low-key, cheap, no walking, no buses, no waiting, and the whole family was there (me, DW, mom, bro, SIL, and 2 nephews).

ATTQOTD: I usually go for something simple for lunch and then either pizza or a burger that night.

For dinner after the marathon, we ate at SciFi and it was perfect. I wasn't quite ready for a huge meal, but it was a great place to sit down and enjoy a fun atmosphere (I've loved this place since I was a kid). I had a burger that was fine and shared a milkshake and it hit the spot.

ATTQOD: My favorite post race meal...after finishing Dopey Challenge we went to Artist Point for Story Book Dining with Snow White. The food was really great and getting a selfie with Dopey and having him sign the back of my medal was so much fun. But the Evil Queen steals the show...she sneered at me as I walked up and told me the clanking of all my medals was annoying. She especially didn't like when I told her I thought my wife was "the fairest of them all".

Has anyone eaten at Be Our Guest for dinner? Was it worth the $$$$? I was there for breakfast in 2018 and was under impressed. Would much rather go to Liberty Tree, but as a solo it will not make sense. Trying to plan dining for the cancelled W&D race weekend.

We’ve been to Be Our Guest for dinner and had a really good meal (although I must admit I can’t remember what we all had). I don’t recall the cost, so I can’t answer if it was worth the money, and I have not done a solo trip there.

I haven’t since it changed to signature. I’ve heard it is decent. Not amazing but not bad either. I enjoyed it prior to the change.

Yes twice (in 2013 and 2015) but we were on a DDxDP and it was only 1TS credit back then. I find that the experience greatly varied based on which room you were. Food was good back then but did not blow me away. Still might be worth it for the ambiance given the lack of character meals these days.

We have eaten there several times since it opened and maybe three times last year? We no longer use the DDP, always travel with pre purchased gift cards and tables in wonderland. The meal was a favorite, always getting a bottle of enchanted brut champagne, different apps, and the filet (which we were informed you could add a couple scallops to and we did) It was always a very good meal and we usually took our time and relaxed, or as much as you can in a park restaurant anyways. I would put it above LeCellier but well below Jiko so the cost is up there but it is in Beasts castle. That being said my wife read that they were changing the menu again, though right now it looks like the same.
All of the rooms are nice but it is very large and so it can get very loud, especially in the main room.
Have fun, we will still be going and trying to somehow get in 19.3 miles for the weekend

We ate there for our celebratory dinner the day after the marathon in 2019 and really enjoyed it. I love the atmosphere and found the food on the new menu to be better than when we ate there for dinner in 2017.

I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, but has anyone done the Valley Forge Half Marathon? I'd be curious to hear opinions/insight. https://runsignup.com/Race/PA/Phoenixville/ValleyForgeHalfFullMarathon

It looks like it is being held (first weekend in October). They do have COVID rules in place. It looks like it is a flat course on the Schuylkill River Trail. I was going to do a solo half marathon that weekend and am debating about signing up for it as it would be a lot more fun to run in a race in a new location than by myself on my normal routes.

It is about three hours from where I live, but I do have family in the area that would hopefully allow me to stay with them prior to the race.

I've never done it but now I'm interested too! It's maybe an hour drive for me but might be worth the trip. I'm dying for a race.

I haven’t done this race, but I run a fair bit on the SRT, so I can give some insight. Looking at the course map, saying this is a flat course is pretty accurate. Valley Forge can be hilly, but the part you should be running on shouldn’t be to bad. There won’t be many spectators. Even if this was a normal year, there aren’t really many places on the SRT for people to just stand around and watch from.

Hadn't heard of it, but if it actually runs in person I might sign-up! I have a few virtual races (including a marathon) to knock-out that would be more fun in person.

Sounds like we might have a disboards meet up.
