Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

No microwaves in the YC rooms. I have never done this personally but I’ve always read around the DIS that there are a limited number of microwaves available upon request. I am not sure if that is really the case or if it’s still available in these COVID times, hopefully someone with better knowledge knows for sure.

At the moment, housekeeping will come every other day to do a light cleaning and refill supplies. But you can call or use the chat feature in the app at any time to request more. They only stock 3 regular and 3 decaf k-cups - we definitely needed more! :-)
I’ve gotten microwaves a few times, one time at GF they even goofed and I got two (one for the bathroom, one for by the bed). I really don’t know right now due to covid though. We use them for my daughters twice daily eye compresses so we have a small microwave we bring with us when we drive, which is what we’ll do at Christmas. Of course it doesn’t hurt to ask just in case, you never know what they’re doing right now unless you ask.

Was thinking about heading down for three nights at the Yacht next month when my child is on Fall break and just do the resort area and SAB. No park visits at all. Maybe a trip to Disney Springs one day. I don't know. I got a 35% off pin code so that is nice and I the Yacht is my #1 resort. I will run it by her and see if she wants to go.

I wonder with the resorts being empty if they are more generous with any free upgrades at the Yacht? I know I booked a standard view back in 2013 but got a nice view of the quiet pool.

I’m not sure what the policy is or how upgrades happen but we booked a Garden/Woods view and got put into what I assume is a water view based on this scene from our balcony:
525202

FYI in the 3090 hallway - we can see the Eiffel Tower in Epcot and the Skyliner, the mast of SAB’s water slide, and half the Boardwalk (all lit up right now 🥰)

It is just luck of the draw with upgrades. It may or may not happen. It is just a nice bonus when they happen.

Are you a first time renter? I’m kind of worried that you might not know all the ins and outs of renting.

No, we are DVC members. I could not find a forum for DCC Beach Club, so I thought I would ask here. Everyone seems to be be very helpful and knowledgeable.

Okay - sometimes people decide to rent but don't know what the rules are at all, and I get concerned that they will be surprised and disappointed. (They don't know how many real beds are in a villa, they don't realize that Disney's regular hotel cancellation rules don't apply, etc.)

Is there any difference between a room in the beach club and a room in the yacht club?

I spend my mornings in WDW sipping coffee on the balcony. If I make a res for a beach club room with a balcony could i get yacht club? It doesnt matter as long as we get...... you guessed it a balcony.

Well, the biggie right now is that the Yacht Club is accepting room reservations and the Beach Club is temporarily, but indefinitely, closed, so guests are unable to book a room at the Beach Club Resort at this time.

All of the rooms at the Beach Club Villas have full-size balconies, some have extra-large balconies.

Several posters have given great info about some of the differences between the YC resort and BC resort- here is the info from Page 1, Post 1- but I don't really have a prepared listing of the differences between a room at the YC and the various villa configurations:

What are the differences between the Beach Club and the Yacht Club?

The Beach Club and Yacht Club are similar resorts in terms of service and amenities, and have equal access to the shared pool complex, health club and video arcade. Both resorts have the same management team in place.

Some minor differences have been noted by guests:

Beach Club- club level lounge renovated in 2014, room renovations completed in August 2015
Lighter, beachy décor in lobby and rooms
Lobby can be active and lively with families waiting for meals at Cape May
Closer to EPCOT and Marketplace Gift Shop
Approximately 50% of rooms in all room categories have full balconies. The remaining are standing balconies.
Room attributes include carpets on floor, ceiling fans*, Cuisinart Pod Coffee Makers *ceiling fans may be in the process of being removed from rooms at the BC (2018)
Shared resort bus picks up and drops off at YC first

Yacht Club- renovations to club level lounge started October 2015, room renovations completed in June 2017
Darker woods and nautical décor in lobby and rooms
Lobby is more serene
Convention attendees are more likely to be booked at YC
Closer to Hollywood Studios and Friendship Boats
Most rooms have a full balcony (exceptions: 5163 has no balcony, some rooms have full but enclosed balconies, there are a few extra large balconies shared by multiple rooms)
Room attributes include wood floors, lots of storage units, Keurig coffee makers. No ceiling fans in rooms following the rehab.
The Market at Ale & Compass is smaller and offers different quick serve food items than the Beach Club Marketplace.
Shared resort bus usually picks up and drops off at the YC first

* Starting in October 2017, pet dogs are now being welcomed in guest rooms at the Yacht Club resort. Additional information posted at the beginning of this post.

We’ll be there for a week in October thanks to the recent AP discounts. Are the cabanas available? Debating a 1/2 day rental.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15. Yacht Club?

:cool1:

I see from a later post that you have booked a cabana, which I believe are only available for full day rentals currently.

:fish:

Just left YC today. SAB was pretty empty during the week (Mon-Thur). You are not required to wear a mask anywhere in SAB, and you are not allowed to wear one in the pool. Thought this was odd, but it's for water safety, and they tell you to just keep your 6ft distance. Judging by the crowds this morning when we left, that's not possible... Can't comment on reduced number of chairs. There is a QR code to mobile order, but no one is just coming around.

Thank you for the info!

::yes::

No masks in pool area, though you have to wear them to the pool. There is someone taking drink orders. You cannot move chairs around, but there are a lot of them. The person at the gate does not let apart in without confirming there are available chairs, it seems. I think that is how they monitor the number.

:welcome: to posting on this thread, and thanks for the info.

:thumbsup2

We booked one for the first week of October. (Full day). I didn’t ask about a half day rental as we are doing a full day away from the parks.

With my DVC discount I thought the full day rental price was very reasonable. $225 after tax I think.

I don't have you on the Be Our Guest list. BCV?

Depending on your dates, YC seems pretty booked up. I would expect most people will get what they booked.

That is a great view, but I believe it actually is one of the nicer garden views, not a water view room. There is a map of room view categories on the YC post on page 1. According to that map, all the 3090 rooms are garden views. Looks like 3085 & lower are water views. So you still got lucky with one of the best garden view rooms there is!

Thanks! I can’t believe this isn’t classified as water view, it’s so gorgeous.

Probably a repeat of what others have posted from this past weekend, but FWIW below. I’m curious from anyone there now if the pool hours were just for the holiday weekend or if they’ll shrink back again with the slow fall.

As of yesterday, the signs posted in the YC lobby:
View attachment 524566

My pic of the other sign is blurry, but here’s what it said:

Recreational Offerings

Storm-A-Long Bay Pool Hours 10am-10pm*

Leisure Pool Hours 7am-11pm*
* Pool hours are Subject to Change

Poolside Activities 2:30pm-8pm
Located at Storm-A-Long Bay

Movie Under the Stars
Located on Shipwreck Beach a the Beach Club

Sunday - Aladdin
Tuesday - Mulan
Thursday - High School Musical
Friday - The Lion King

Note the Leisure Pool Hours above say 7am-11pm, but this is what was posted on the YC Leisure Pool yesterday... so YMMV! And of course the Disney website still says “leisure pools are open 24 hours a day.” So you know, details. :-)

Thank you so much for all of this great info. I need to work on updating Page 1.

:thanks:

Thank you! I’ve got two nights at Yacht in November before moving to Bay Lake Tower and really wanted to enjoy Beaches n Cream and the pool our first day.

I don't have your trip on the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

Is your stay here at BCV?

Just back from a quick weekend at Yacht Club...a busy weekend, but enjoyable just the same. Here are some quick observations..

Pool was on a line on and off from about 11:45 till about 1:30 ish....the line never really lasted long, as a lot of people were coming and going at the same time. The staff was doing a good job of directing you to an open chair if you arrived after the pool opened, which was nice for families to easily find a place to sit without having to do the hunt in the heat for a chair.

Tip...if you arrive at SAB and they are on a line...go to the back and enter by Hurricane Hannah's bar. You can get in there also, and there is never a line back there.

Best side quiet pool is the one on the Beach Club side on the way to Epcot...never anyone there and it is open 24 hours also. We used it quite a few times, while waiting for SAB to open after storms.

Noticed a lot of people who asked if they could just leave their stuff at their seats when the pool closed for storms....while yes you can, it will not be there when you get back, it will be in lost and found. A lot of people this weekend were asking lifeguards if they could leave it, and they were told...yes you can, but depending on how long it is closed...it will not be here when you get back.

We did order room service and I have to say...it was delicious!! One of the best burgers I have ever had on property!!

While walking around we noticed some 1st floor water view rooms with massive shrubs just grown way to high....I think I would be upset if I paid for a water view room and out my window was just bushes. We were kind of shocked to see some rooms totally blocked from any view.

Has anyone rented a cabana and then have it rain? Are you compensated? do they pro rate it? Just another hmmm, what do they do for you then? Pool was closed from 3pm till 9pm on Sunday night, made us wonder about those who reserved cabana's.

Hurricane Hanna's bar has a very limited menu of quick service items that are pre-made for the day...it was fine for lunch...nothing to rave about, but it did the job. And speaking of doing the job, the bar crew had a line all day for drinks and food, but they kicked it back there and kept the line moving...cheers to them.

All in all it was a fun, quick get away filled with water and laughs...we literally were at a pool the entire weekend and loved it!!

We really appreciate the detailed review of your stay.

So glad to hear you had a great time.

We have moved from BWI to now YC for our trip 10/26-11/6! This will be a first for us here. We are really looking forward to it!

:welcome:

I'll add your trip to the Be Our Guest list.

Please let us know if you have any questions about the resort.

:woohoo:

Than you, yes we have 2 rooms booked at the YC from 10/11-10/18. I did a full day rental on the cabana. It was around $225 with the AP discount. We were originally staying in the FW cabins but when the AP discounts came out, it was cheaper to stay at the YC. I was there last year but looking forward to staying with the whole family this trip.

My mom had a massive stroke & heart attack. She’s dying. We won’t be able to go on 9-13–9-19, so you can remove us from the list. We will try & see if Disney can move us to a later date with all our reservations, etc. if so I’ll give the dates later. My DH is going to try to take care of that, it’s his first time dealing with Disney planning. I don’t have the time or strength to do it.
To be honest, all I want to do is run away from this pain, watching her slowly die like this is more than I can bare. And I know when she goes I’ll want to escape. So maybe Disney will provide some comfort. It’s better than staying here, looking at everything that reminds of the hurt & loss. :guilty:

I am so sorry to hear about your mom. Sending caring thoughts to you and your family as you say goodbye.
:grouphug:

I have a question about Beaches & Cream. If I *only* want to get ice cream/dessert, is it frowned upon to have an ADR? Should I just use the take-out window?
