Question: How do you decide if you should use points vs paying cash for airfare? We are thinking of a trip out west on JetBlue next spring and while I have points to cover it, I think the cash price might be the better deal? 111,600 points (+$44 fees) vs. $1520- that means I'm getting 1.32 cents to the dollar right once I subtract the fees from the cash price? Is that considered good or crappy?
We don't have specific plans for future JetBlue flights, though I'm sure they will come up in the next few years. And I like the idea of the 6x the points for booking cash... I just don't know. I feel like I'm just hording the points when the whole point of this was to earn points to use! (I just started this whole points thing in May- we only have 128k between us!)
PS- Unrelated, I really hope the CSP referral tacks on that 80k extra big bonus! I have met my MSR, so I want to get him on before holiday shopping starts and before our 6% AmEx grocery bonus resets Jan 1! I'll take the straight 80k if necessary in October, but man it would be sweet to tack on the 15k too!
