Can I get a name for the order?

When you are asked this question when ordering, do you give your actual name? Do you have fun and give a different name each time? I used to give my real name, which is three syllables, and sometimes they'd ask for the spelling, which I thought was weird. I now just use my son's name, which is one syllable and three letters, and much quicker. But what I always want to answer with is 'Lady Rosamund Painswick'.

I pause each time and have the same stupid internal dialogue ..

”Just first name ? Last name too ? Maybe last name too, there could be many piglettos picking up pizza . But wait, who’s picking up the pizza ? DH probably. Probably should have asked him first. Ok, but he always makes me call. If he wants me to call he can pick it up. ok I’ll give Dh’s name . That’s going to sound weird since I’m clearly not a Bob. Just his first name ? Or last name too ?....”

And then I say “Bob.”

I use my real name. My husband likes to use "Elvis." The exception is when we go to Blaze Pizza and everybody gives their own individual order, including the kids. One of the first times we went, it was May 4th (Star Wars Day). We let my youngest go first and when they asked him his name, he said, "R2-D2." We were all kind of surprised, but as each one of us went down the line, we gave a different Star Wars related name. The guy at the end thought it was hilarious and my son talked to him about it being Star Wars Day. After that, every time we go to Blaze, we usually try to think up a theme of some sort and each pick our names from that. It can end up being a whole discussion before we even get in line, about what category our names should come from.

I just use my first name, don't really see any issue with that. However, there are some stores who still want your phone # when making an in-person purchase, no idea why. Loew's & Bed/Bath/Beyond are two examples that come to mind. For them I just make up a phone #.....LOL. Am sure they end up selling those lists of phone #'s to some third party who will call trying to sell you something.

Yeah, Party City, you don't need my phone # for me to make a purchase. My answer is always a polite, "I don't wish to provide one." Don't let them win by providing a fake! :)

Ah, so you are the reason I can’t answer my phone ;)

I give my name if I am solo, or if there are a group of us, we give the most unusual name out of the group. We have never used fake names.

Why give a fake number that could potentially be someone's number? Or why go through the hassle of even just thinking of one.

Just decline giving the number out that's what I do. "Oh no thank you" and move on.

My real name. But it is usually misspelled or the wrong name. I get Christina A LOT. Even when it is written on the tag write they still say "Christina."

Right!?

I used to work in retail but let me tell you sometimes cashiers are sly on things. Right off the bat asking for an e-mail address without explaining why. I just tell them "no thank you" and that's really the end of it. I'll join the rewards program myself if I want to; super easy these days with phones and apps. And if it's about sending me offers if I sign up myself there's usually though not always a check mark box that you can unselect for solicitations. Often you don't get that through the cashier themselves (or they just don't offer it).

I usually just give my last name, it's very simple & easy to understand/spell/pronounce and I rarely have to spell it for anyone!

I never use my name because it seems to complicated for people, so I use one of my daughters' names which are very common and easy to spell.

I actually use my phone number at work that only works internally to our company. Easier then haggling with the cashier..........LOL.

The place we call the most when ordering food usually says 'this is for Bud, right?' when we place a cash order. That's my late uncle's name and we just have never bothered to correct it. Otherwise, since we pay with a debit card we give our real names.
