Question about queues

I am going to visit with my two kids, ages 14 and 11. DH is not able to join us this time. My DS will ride most everything with me. However, DD will not want to do anything scary. She is very cautious and I don't want to force her on anything. So...can she wait in line with us then not ride? Or will we have to leave her each time while we wait and ride?

Every ride has a “chicken exit” – just tell the attraction loader how many are actually riding.

Note that the chicken exit for Tower of Terror is still an elevator, albeit one that doesn’t drop.

So true. My wife takes this on several rides, but wants to go through all the pre show and see all the theming before leaving.

Awesome thank you! And they won't be upset if she has no intention of riding? And how hard will it be for her to exit and find a waiting area? I just would prefer her not be alone longer than necessary.

They won’t be upset at all and the exit generally leads to or very close to the real exit where riders will appear soon after you split apart.

And, just to add to this, some of the queues are really excellent, like an attraction in themselves. EE comes to mind immediately. And Tower of Terror.

Thank you everyone, this is helpful and I can relax about this one issue at least!

I do this all the time. Sometimes the cast members will point out a bench or something where she can wait. On a lot of rides she won't have to exit the building.

they can go to the "bathroom" and come back when it's time for last stretch of queue. For the most part, everyone is 6 feet apart. if not just turn around and lock eyes for a few seconds - that will do it!

Now wouldn't that be awful, if after boarding they said "Oops sorry, this isn't the chicken exit elevator, this is the RIDE ELEVATOR! Better hang on tight!"

the only one that could be a problem for your daughter is Tower of Terror as you have to use elevator with a CM in character which could scare her

But if the CM is escorting an 11 year old who is afraid, I'm sure they'd tone down the character schtick while in her presence.

She won't be scared of the queuing, but just has no desire to experience any "thrill" rides. She will enjoy the other stuff, I think.

but remember you are getting in an elevator as part of ride and the chicken exit is in the middle of those elevators if I remember right
