Is anyone else feeling more optimistic about travel in 2021? I am one of those that really just stopped traveling in 2020. Kept thinking I'd road trip here or there and then just stayed put. All the vaccine news is making me feel optimistic. I haven't even felt like planning up to now. Last night I booked some rental cars for summer and fall travel and I might even book some refundable airfare! I've had the hotels booked since one trip is my white whale - Glacier NP - and needed to do that as soon as reservations were available.

AA - I did get my 100 miles in each of our accounts. Thanks for whoever mentioned going to the promotions tab. I didn't see it at first and was a little sad :( thinking I got missed.
We would love to take ds to Japan next fall. I’m not sure if that will happen or not. We’ve kept our stash of URs for that purpose though

Can someone walk me through the Hyatt promotions? DH has a Hyatt card, so will be getting 5 nights in January. We will actually have two organic nights at Hyatt Place in January. That's all I currently have planned. What else do I need to do? And do stays on points count or just cash stays?

Make sure your DH is registered for all the promotions. All the links and info here: https://onemileatatime.com/world-of-hyatt-promotion/
He will have 9 nights, 5 from card and 4 for the 2 nights. He would need 21 more nights to be Globalist. From now until 2/28/21 night stays count as double. So you could stay 10 more nights before 2/28 you will be 1 night short of Globalist.
his card earns 2 elite night for every $5k spend.

Thank you! That's great. One more question: all these nights have to be paid for or can I use points?

2021 travel plans:
January- 1 week Florida A30 beach house A30
March- 8 days Hawaii (Maui and Oahu)
June- 8 days Grand Cayman at Kimpton Seafire Oceanfront Bungalow
August- 8 days Iceland... considering adding Paris or London

Much of this was booked when I was grinding it out at my high stress job. Now, I have the time and energy to really plan and optimize/minimize the costs.

I called Delta Vacations tonight to book a throwaway room and Disney park passes. The lady said that the Disney tickets weren't on the portal to book right now. They were available a few weeks ago, so hopefully this is temporary.

For those with Delta Vacations credits, we had a credit that was set to expire at the end of the year. I had previously booked a night at the Portofino for next week, but called to cancel tonight. They gave me back a Delta Vacation gift card that expires 12/31/2021. Might be a way to extend some of those dates that are coming up soon. We have a good amount expiring in April, so I might have to do this if we can't book Disney tickets in the next few weeks.

So random, realized tonight that my texts weren't sending and that I wasn't getting them either. Called AT&T and they were unable to fix it but because I can still make calls and use the internet the issue is on their side. So they are working on fixing it and hopefully I'll get an email with my ticket number because as I told him I can't get texts. Kept asking me about getting them, had to send the text with the pin to my mom's phone. At least as of now it's not the phone, since I just got it in June.

I'm getting ready to close some bank accounts, should I be considering cards from these banks before I do so? Other than possibly Disney, I have no travel on the calendar for now. Always open to cash back or anything that will cover softball travel.

Since they usually only have 2 or 3 in store, shopping online is best. Unless they are getting rid of the models in the store, they aren't for sale in store, just online. What I did was find the models I was interested in, took pictures at Lowes, Home Depot and model numbers and cross referenced online. Hitting a sale was pure luck. With the Costco Citi and the Executive membership, an extended warranty of 4 years.

I just checked the website and they don't have mine for sale individually any more. It's part of the packages -RF28R7351SR.

Thanks - we are looking at this model number: WRX735SDHZ - It's a Whirlpool 4 Door/French Door model. If you or anyone could check the costco price for me, I'd appreciate it. I can't figure out a way to see the price since I'm not a member. If it's a good enough price, I might join just for this. I'd also have to be sure they deliver to my area. That could possibly be an issue too since we are a good distance from there (about an hour).

Looks like it is $2149.99.

Got my Southwest Biz card denial letter today.
- balance too high on one of my cards (it's the one I pay off every month but I still use it heavily and do hit the limit frequently)
- no commercial banking relationship
- general industry risk

Bummer. Any suggestions?

You gotta wait a month before trying again
You could try paying the nearly maxed card early, before the next application
You could shift credit line around to give the heavily used card a higher limit
You could change industries. I assume this is the business category you used. Out of curiosity, what did you use?

PS. I have no experience with any of these ideas, or whether they might work.

They don't usually deliver from the store, so distance from your closest store shouldn't be an issue at all, and the delivery date for my area (Maryland) is Dec 8. The Samsungs are still at a month so that's pretty good.

But - I'm seeing it at Lowes for $2249 (ends Dec 9) and you should be able to get at least 5% off if you have a Lowes card, 10% if military, and, if it were me I'd ask for a small discount from the manager, if you have no other discounts. Yes I know it's on special and there might even be a rebate, but by the time you bought a Costco membership, the price difference is gone. Home Depot is at $2499.

They can be points, make sure to register for the 25% points back promotion. If you book 10 nights at a Cat 1 hotel for a total of 50,000 points you’ll get 25% back. It is a great promotion.

Plus you should get stay points and whatever other promo may stack. For my 60k/3 night stay last summer I ended up with 22,500 points returned. 15K for the 25% back plus an additional 7500.

How sad is it that when I find out I have to buy a new refrigerator, my first thought is that it will make hitting my SUBs easier...maybe I can even apply for another card sooner lol!

Found out this morning that the compressor is going out and it will cost about as much to fix it as a new fridge would be. So, I guess we'll be shopping for a new refrigerator tonight. Planning on hitting Lowes, Home Depot and Best Buy to see what they have and then searching for deals when we get home.

I have to decide if I want to put it on my AmEx Platinum to help with the SUB or DH's Arrival+ to hit his offer to spend $3,000 and get 60,000 points. If there isn't a difference in warranty protection or anything, I'll probably go with the Arrival because then it will be pretty close to being done and I can quit thinking about it.

Our refrigerator is only 3.5 years old, so one thing I know for sure is that I won't be going with an LG again. Very disappointed - I know things aren't built to last long anymore, but I was expecting longer than that.

Did you call LG? The number inside your fridge? Is it a linear compressor model?

If so they will come replace the compressor for free including labor.

Ask me how I know lol. There was also a class action lawsuit on the linear compressors.

Hopefully it will be safe and you can go. Sounds like an amazing trip.

Cool. Iceland is on my bucket list. Not sure when or really if it will happen but I love researching and planning.

I hope so too. I would love for him to visit Tokyo Disney and ride the bullet train. We really miss our Airbnb host we stayed with too. She was the best and lived in such a nice part of Tokyo.
