I know everyone seems to love Hyatt, so I'm wondering what am I missing there? I even ask the BF how often do they stay in Hyatt's while flying, LOL. I just don't feel like places I go have Hyatt options as much. That said, it could be because it's not on my radar as well.

As others have said, Hyatt doesn't have the anywhere close to the footprint that Hilton and Marriott have. Here is a list of some of their new hotel openings:
  • Grand Hyatt at SFO—only airport hotel at SFO (opened 2019)
  • Grand Hyatt Hefei in China (2019)
  • Grand Hyatt Al Khobar (2020)—the brand’s entry into Saudi Arabia
  • Grand Hyatt Kuwait (2020)—the brand’s debut in Kuwait
  • Grand Hyatt Gurgaon in India (2020)
  • Grand Hyatt Jeju in South Korea (2020)—the largest Grand Hyatt hotel in Asia Pacific
  • Grand Hyatt Nashville (2020)—the brand’s entry into Tennessee
  • Grand Hyatt Shenzhou Peninsula in China (2020)
Planned/recent Andaz openings
  • Andaz Seoul Gangnam in South Korea (opened 2019)
  • Andaz Dubai The Palm (2019)—the brand’s entry into Dubai
  • Andaz Bali (2020)—the brand’s entry into Indonesia
  • Andaz Shenzhen in China (2020)
  • Andaz Xiamen in China (2020)
  • Andaz Palm Springs in the U.S. (2020)
  • Andaz Prague (2022)—Hyatt’s entry into the Czech Republic
  • Andaz Toronto (2022)—the brand’s debut in Canada
Planned Alila openings
  • Alila Dalit Bay in Malaysia (2020)
  • Alila Hinu Bay in Oman (2020)
  • Alila La Gruyère in Switzerland (2023)
Planned/recent Park Hyatt openings
  • Park Hyatt Kyoto (opened 2019)
  • Park Hyatt Doha (2019)—the brand’s entry into Qatar
  • Park Hyatt Auckland (2020)—the brand’s debut in New Zealand (I will be staying here in 2022)
  • Park Hyatt Jakarta (2020)—the brand’s entry into Indonesia
  • Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono in Japan (2020)
  • Park Hyatt Suzhou in China (2020)
Planned/recent Unbound Collection openings
  • Great Scotland Yard (opened 2019)—the brand’s debut in the UK
  • Hôtel du Palais Biarritz in France (2020)
Planned Miraval openings
  • Miraval Berkshires Resort and Spa (2020)—the brand’s entry into Massachusetts

I had an odd situation occur and was wondering if anyone else had this happen. Yesterday while reviewing my Aeroplan Visa I noticed (what I thought) was a charge for $104.59. I called the company because I haven't purchased anything from them. They said it was a credit and it was a mistake. They said they would be putting through a charge for $104.59 today to wipe out the credit. It doesn't make sense to me how they could 'have a system glitch' give me a credit and it really concerns me that they had my credit card info stored from a transaction.
That does sound really odd. Did you call the credit card company or the company issuing the credit/charge? If you didn't call the credit card, I would call them and report it as fraud.

I just checked my Amex gold again. I purchased a flight that was $79. I only got a $2.60 credit. Should I even bother testing out my Platinum?
Bummer it has been working for others and not me. Have $300 left between the two cards.
That's so weird. That amount seems like a remainder of the credit left on your Gold for airline fees. If they weren't going to reimburse you at all it should've been zero. You haven't used it for anything in 2020?

AA Flyers: Will Lounge Passes do us any good in 2021 for

Arrive Seattle (from Alaskan) at 8 PM
Depart SEA on American at 10:30 PM

Arrive Chicago on AA at 4:30 AM
Depart ORD at Noon

I'm thinking about using $300 of Amex credits (Gold + Plat) this year for travel next year.
Any help appreciated!

PS. Other direction is Air Canada direct, if there is anything I can do there.

$2.60 makes me think of airport fees / taxes associated with domestic tickets?

The Club is open that late and it's decent enough, you can get in with priority pass. Not sure that alaska would let you buy a pass to use if you aren't flying out of seatac on them. It's one of the only lounges they don't let PP use, which annoys be, but there's just too many others with it being the hometown airline. We don't have an AA lounge. You're best bet is to use PP for the club or the plat for centurioun. Lounge info. I haven't been in the centurion yet, used the DL since I was flying them and I don't always fly them and figured I'd save it until I flew alaska and couldn't use theirs.

Yep. They gave me the fee portion. I guess they could see it was a flight.
I still have $90something left.

Possible you're the canary in the coal mine. Or just a weird glitch. What day did you make the purchase?

I got caught when AA GC died. I always check the most recent Flyertalk DPs, but there's a lag while people are waiting for it to credit.

I just booked a SW flight for ~ $90 and the fees were ~ $15:

  • SUBTOTAL
    $74.38
  • TAXES & FEES
    $14.60
  • TRIP TOTAL
    $88.98
Maybe $2.60 is some subset of the fees?

I thought you could get the 140k ihg offer if you held the older $49 Af card?

I have the Premier already (the $89 card). So I'd be cancelling to to try and get It again. It's been over 24 mos since I got it the first time. I think i'll just do the 100k free card for now. And maybe when/if I do the CFF and have cell coverage with them, I'll go ahead and try the $89 one again.

How can 2020 get worse you ask? By taking your doggy to the Vet on Christmas Eve on a one way trip. 😢😢😢😢😢😢. She was 14, so she lived a good life but it is hard, especially on Christmas. I am so thankful we had the extra time with her this year. I don’t think she has been left alone all year. I am happy all the kids were home to say their goodbyes but it was rough.

Oh my gosh—so incredibly sorry:(

:duck:
User error. I stink. Apparently I did use my credit already. For some reason I looked quick and thought I had $90 whatever leftover but had used $90 something in Jan. Oops. That will teach me not to do things when I first wake up. Oh well. We will use the credit anyway.

Sorry about not seeing your in-laws and your mom.

Stay safe! My daughter is currently working in a Covid unit, and oddly there have been far fewer infections of staff there, because they are so cautious and covered from head to toe. There have been more staff getting Covid in units like the ED, trauma, labor and delivery because patients in other units are tested before they come in if possible, and before any procedures, whereas those other units don’t have that opportunity.

Hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel with the vaccines.
Yes, we seem to have more staff positives in non covid units up until recently. We had a large number of staff positives in November in our ICU, which was thought to be community spread and likely spread during non mask wearing times, like lunch. We now test all patients on admission.
I have hope now; got vaccinated last week.

Is anyone else not getting spending alerts from Chase and AmEx? I have my cards set up to send me an alert whenever the cards are used but I haven't gotten any alerts in the past few days (and I know I have used the cards). Is this perhaps a holiday thing?
I've gotten them from Chase, including today. Woke up to a fraud text from AMEX last Saturday so they seem to be working too.

I'm so sorry 😢 It's always tough but especially at the holidays. :grouphug:

I did call the company that that did the refund (apparently from a September purchase) and they were adamant that the credit was a "system glitch". They said they would be putting through a charge to reverse it today. I don't understand how they had my credit card info stored in their system and found their attitude about the situation to be rather abrasive. I have never had anything like this happen before.
I asked if it could have been a refund from a pre-order (I pre-ordered 20lb dumbells from them that never showed up) and they asked me for proof of the pre-order. I didn't think that was my responsibility to provide them with the proof and I am way too swamped with getting ready for our 3 person Christmas brunch and dinner tomorrow to dig through my e-mails.

All kinds of places store it though. It's how Saks refunded my amex after they received my return, or amazon does it etc. It doesn't mean they have access to the information outside the transaction.
