*** Official April 2021 Thread ***

We have booked a room at AKV Jambo with our DVC points for April 18-22. We are cautiously watching what happens. Our DS graduates this year and we wanted to do something with him over his spring break as this summer he has plans to work at a camp and then heads to college in the fall. So far everything booked has been no money out-of-pocket and can be rebooked if need be - plane tickets were purchased using some credits I had from a trip cancelled last Spring plus used miles. We have a car rental (but watching autoslash for a cheaper rate). Holding off on park tickets at this point to see what happens.

Hi all! We are booked for a split stay at BLT and Beach Club 4/2-4/10. We just had our first ever Christmas trip after cancelling last April and August. We were able to surprise my kids and it was honestly one of the best trips! Unfortunately we returned home and had to be tested due to NY’s travel restrictions and my husband was positive. We were shocked. He never became symptomatic and my kids and I all tested negative. Of course we do not know where he picked it up, however, I felt very safe in the parks and the resorts (Poly and BLT). I will be getting vaccinated on Wednesday but my husband will have to wait since he had Covid. If anyone has any questions I’m happy to answer them since I was there so recently :)

I will be there for Easter Sunday - has anyone heard about anything special they might be offering on the holiday? Understand everything's different now with Covid so not bothering to look up what has been done at WDW in prior years for Easter. Just curious whether anyone has heard if there might be anything for this year. Maybe it's a bit too soon yet, just thought I'd put it out there. TIA!

I'm from NY also, so I'm curious about this - did you test while in Florida before you came home? According to the regulations I'm seeing online, that is supposed to be one of the requirements (then testing the fourth day after returning to NY). One of the things I'm most nervous about is testing in FL, because what if one of us has it, even if we're asymptomatic? We'd have to cut the trip short and try to get home without giving it to anyone else.

Glad to hear you're getting the vaccine so soon. We're not "essential" or over 65, so I suspect it'll be a while for us, given how poor the rollout has gone.

Fellow New Yorker here! We decided to drive to have more control of our itinerary given all the uncertainty these days. So our plan is to get rapid tests on our morning of departure, so that if any of us are positive we will hit the road immediately, be isolated in our own vehicle for the drive home, and will drive straight through by alternating drivers (have done it before and don't like it but we know we can do it). Otherwise, if negative as we hope, we would do a little shopping and snacking on our last day, stop for the night on the way, and then do the quarantine once back in NY with another test on Day 4 back in NY. For those flying, the whole thing has added degree of difficulty. My husband teaches ("essential") and will have had vaccine by then, but I don't think that eliminates the testing requirement as my understanding is that vaccinated folks can still carry/transmit the virus.

Hey everyone! Joining in! This will be our 6th trip and my daughters 4th. We go every April but last year was cancelled. We had rescheduled that trip for October 2020 but once they cancelled MNSSHP and our dining reservations we moved it to April 2021. We are going in April regardless this year I need my fix! 😂😂 we are staying at POP April 11-April 16th. I bought our Fl resident tix with my Giftcard from last years unused tickets and made our park reservations the other day. Waiting to decide about dining since there’s no dining plan. I think we will just use quick service dining and maybe try for a ressie at Garden Grill. I had all my favorites made for last April so I’m sad we will miss out this year but at least we can go ☺️

Hi Everyone!

I'm headed to FL in April from California with my 6 year old son. It will be our first of many Disney trips since I'm now a DVC owner. Originally I was going to do a split between Riviera and a Disney Cruise but since April isn't looking good for cruises I added another DVC stay. I will be at Riviera from 4/2-4/5 then headed to Animal Kingdom Kidani Village to a Savannah view room from 4/5-4/8.

Looks like I'm on this list for Aulani but I moved that trip to July.

I bought the 6 day for the price of 4 park pass from Disney. Hoping that things are a litter better in April and welcome any tips since this is our first trip.

Hi! Yes we tested at the Maingate location. We were also nervous about possibly testing positive but I guess we were fortunate that my husband didn’t test positive until we got home! National guard will meet you when your flight arrives in NY (assuming you are flying) and you’ll fill out a health form.

Just got the vaccine today! I’ve heard the upcoming weeks of vaccine may be cancelled around here because of a shortage.

Yes, you are correct that the vaccine doesn’t eliminate the testing requirement, unfortunately. I’m also a teacher and just got the vaccine today.

Thanks for the info! Do they have rapid testing at Maingate? Do you need an appointment? If not, is there a long wait? I looked some of this up but I can't remember what I saw for each location I checked!

Awesome! I updated you on the main list.

They have both types of testing. You do not need an appt but the wait can be long depending on when you go. It moves pretty quickly. I hope this helps!

Thank you again, this is quite helpful! Our loose plan (assuming we're going forward with this trip) is to test on the Wednesday morning before we leave (Friday afternoon). Coincidentally, that day is our Epcot day. Assuming it doesn't open until 11:00 like it does now, I thought we would go to the testing sight first thing without it cutting into our day too much. All subject to change, of course.

Oh man, I am really just considering things. I might extend my trip a few more days while my family goes home and work from Disney World since I'm WFH. I start at 5am. Then at 1pm, sneak off to the parks for a few hours. Is this a good idea?

We have cancelled our April trip. As a Canadian, we just can’t go yet with the quarantine/testing. I think we will hold out hope for aug 2021, but quite honestly I’m not sure we will even get to go in 2021 :( for now we are not going to re-book, and just book when it looks likely we can finally go.
To all of you who get to go, have fun!!

haven't cancelled yet but very likely that we will. until we can get vaccinated do not feel safe flying to Disney. My SIL and DGD both have asthma, SIL's is especially bad and I am high risk due to my age.
Plus the 2 DGDs want to ride Tron and Guardians of the Galaxy which won't be open yet.
My retirement trip will be April 2022 (2 years late) but hoping by then things will be somewhat back to "normal".
