A Touch of Disney 2021 Experience - Superthread - Read First Post for Updates - Updated with Full Menus

I have tickets for Thursday so will be able to.rwport back then. I got a priceline deal for Hyatt House on Harbor so staying there and walking over.

My flight gets in around 8:30am to SNA actually so accounted for enough time to drop bags and walk over early.

Looking forward to your report and so glad to see you back on this board. You've been missed!

I could also see it getting more chaotic if they can increase capacity at all and thus sell more tickets (I know more than a few crossing their fingers for that to potentially happen). So it could change after the event is already started... Also weekends and weekday ToD events might see a difference despite all being sold out? Maybe?
Personal opinion - I'd be surprised if they add more capacity to those dates. I think the number of guests is also accounting for the nature of the event itself - I don't think they're going to want a ton of people there, knowing that there's not going to be a whole lot to do. Plus, reopening ticket sales would risk a lot of chaos - they'd have to do the queue again, and it'd be sold out almost immediately again.

I think it's more likely that they add more dates - and I think that only happens if they can't get "open" by the end of ToD (which Chapek suggested they were aiming for).

Oh yeah, no. I don't think they would actually add tickets. I just know people who've said they hope they do :rotfl: . Just if for some reason Disney did that, that would be a concern for how to handle the extra crazy.

Just the idea of facing that ticket queue again... DH said my description reminded him of the scene in "Titanic" when everyone hits the water!

Aww thank you !

I've actually been kind of busy working work and traveling to Florida for my disney fix , WDW has seen me four times since August with two more trips coming up between now and July lol.
Also spending 5 nights in Aulani next month ;)

I almost only got one ticket for March 18th then decided I better get two and found someone to go with me haha though they don't know why we are going to SoCal yet. Also decided to do the Knotts Boysenberry festival because why not. Never been to the park itself but myate mom always spoke of it.

I’m really curious to hear how the entrance process goes and if you can enter someway OTHER than the tram from Mickey and friends... I booked a hotel within a few mins walk from that parking structure just in case. My friend and I are flying in and don’t see the need to rent a car too since were only doing DTD and ToD.

The tram is unlikely to be running.

Mickey and Friends is where the included parking is, but it’s not like you ever need to be there? People drop off and all kinds of stuff... entrance will be at the park gate, with your ticket.

The way I am expecting it to work is those coming from Mickey and Friends, will enter thru the security area between ESPN and the Star Wars location. But you can also enter from the other 2 gates also. SHOULD there be a capacity issue for DTD, priority will be given to those coming in from the ESPN side as they have tickets. But I am sure for those of us entering Harbor side/PPH area, there will be a set up for us to bypass long lines also should they occur.

I am thinking, because of the capacity issues at DTD (especially on the weekends), people parking at Mickey and Friends will walk on the tramway path and bypass DTD altogether. Otherwise, I think they’d have to account the ToD people in the DTD capacity limits. And there will be two separate entrances on the Harbor side, one for ticket holders that funnels people directly to the DCA entrance and another for people wanting to enter DTD. But maybe I’m overthinking it...

They already have security gates set up at ESPN. And they won't be able to stop people from exiting TOD from entering DTD, so they are going to be counted in the DTD count. That said, the count is going up because of heading into red.

yeaj the only descriptions I saw on the Touch of Disney page about temperature screenings talked about guests doing temperature screenings in the Mickey and Friends structure and then being routes over the tramway and into DCA. I guess it makes sense that the tram wouldn’t be running and that they’d have a way to enter from Harbor. BUT I found a slightly better hotel price for a much better room over by Mickey and Friends than where I usually stay right across Harbor so.... figured I’d go for it just in case we do have to enter from Mickey and Friends. Or in case that line is shorter!

The event page implies that they're planning to exactly that - stop people from entering DTD.

"Entrance to the Downtown Disney District (separate from the A Touch of Disney experience) is subject to capacity and Guests may need to join a queue."

That will be interesting. (Rhetorical questions) So, if I go over at 9am and enter DTD, then at 1230, head to DCA, am I still counted in DTD? How will they know I exited the DTD capacity count? And when I leave BVS, if I want to grab a Salt and Straw (I am positive I won't!) I will have to enter another queue.... I guess if you are entering from Harbor, they will have counters at the ticket booths instead of the security.

That's how I've read that: that if capacity is reached in DTD, those at ToD won't be able to enter immediately. We'll find out soon, though, what access will exist.

I forget where I've voiced these thoughts before, but it helps me ponder what they'll be doing once the parks actually open. I've been concerned how they'd handle park capacity with DTD capacity. But if they're treated separately with ToD, I could see them doing the same for the parks opening. So maybe this will give us some insight into what to expect later? Or close to it.

Good points. And I understand you meant it all rhetorical, but I would hope they have someone tracking those who leave DTD for DCA (even if they don't leave Disney property) especially since it seems they'll be considered separate entities in terms of capacity. I'm definitely watching closely for those first event reports how it's going to be handled in reality.

Totally spitballing:

If they put up barriers on the walkways from the tramway to DTD, and on the east side of the water fountain at La Brea Bakery - with an access point there - they could pretty easily restrict the traffic between DTD and DCA. It could be open as long as DTD has capacity, then queued up once that's exceeded.
