Fully vaccinated, what is the first thing you did?

Booked an appointment to get my hair cut, so that's today.

Haven't had a cut since Oct 2019 so my hair is just long and wavy/curly with no pizzaz, I want my pizzaz back.
Every 6 months I made two low ponytails and cut straight across with sewing scissors.
Today I will be down near Boston's waterfront being a human again because the stylist kindly agreed to meet me when the shop is closed so I'll be safe.

Wonder what other people are doing who've been hiding out, I feel like baby Bambi learning to walk, this clip feels right:

After the vaccine has been in my system for 2 weeks we’re going to eat at one of our favorite restaurants - we haven’t been there since before COVID because of COVID. This place is ridiculously crowded all the time, so we‘ve completely avoided it and I’m still not ready to eat there during their peak times, but I will be brave enough to eat there around 4:30pm.

Honestly - nothing different than what we did prior. We are 3 weeks post 2nd shot but it hasn't changed our life. I am flying to Florida- not WDW (4th time in last year) this morning, and I booked the flights before I booked the vaccine - that was just luck for me - so yeah, not much difference for us. Still wearing a mask and going on with life.

We're not fully vaccinated yet, but can see the finish line (DH and I got our 2nd does last weekend and DD gets hers Thursday.)

DH turns 50 at the end of the month. I think we're going to have the family over to celebrate. It's not going to be an all-out party, but we haven't had anyone in our house for over a year, and we haven't been in theirs either. Everyone coming, except one person (15, too young), will be fully vaccinated by then. I still keep looking at the weather wondering if we could do it on the patio. We'll see (extended forecast doesn't go out quite that far yet. . It will feel weird to gather indoors.

Otherwise, I don't think much will change.

My last shot is today. We got tickets to a socially distanced comedy club for a bit over two weeks from now to celebrate. However, over 60% of those in our county have at least one shot. Over 60% of those in my town are fully vaccinated, with over 75% having at least one shot. Cases have dropped to the low single digits. In two weeks we may hit local herd immunity.

I've done nothing different.
Haven't eaten in a restaurant or gone to a movie (that might be the first thing)
Have already gotten my hair cut a couple of times and nails done.
Have flown to FL twice, never stopped seeing my family

I went to the gym. I'm not comfortable doing all of my preCovid workout yet, but I met my fully vaccinated friend and we did some cardio together.

It will be exactly the same for us but in entirely the opposite way. Vaccinated or not makes no difference, we are bound to the local/federal restrictions which means no social gatherings of any size, no travel, no recreation or entertainment facilities open, no in-house dining and all distancing and masking requirements still in place. Until all that is lifted our daily lives don’t improve.

We don’t even really know when our 2nd doses will be - due to Canadian supply issues they don’t book our 2nd appointments at the time of our first. We are put on a will-call list and my DH’s estimated date is June 17, pending product availability.

Once we have both received our 2nd dose we are preparing to quietly commit a minor act of civil disobedience by travelling 8 hours by car to see my elderly sister and her husband, who are also vaccinated. It’s been more than a year since we’ve been together and they’ve suffered greatly due to isolation.

The big difference for me is the mental release. I've been doing pretty much everything I need to do in the safest way possible all along. The one big change is I am now going to lunch with friends. We've been eating out all along, but only with immediate family. It's great to see my friends in person again after so long.

My parents (almost 81 and 88) have had the biggest change. They signed up for a fall bowling league. They have not eaten out in a year, but got to go out for their 62nd anniversary recently. And they just went to church in person this past weekend. These are huge milestones in returning to normalcy for them.

I’m not vaccinated yet, but when I tested positive the first thing I did was make a hair appointment, last one October 2019. I was at the salon for 3 hours, he highlighted every single strand to cover the gray, she cut off 5 inches.

:magnify: is this a typo, or are you saying you deliberately exposed an entire room full of people?

I want to talk about this more. Yep, I went to Florida about a week after my second dose.

And yesterday, I took the kids to see Raya and the Last Dragon in a theatre. The last time we had been to the movies was March 17, 2020 to see Onward.

DH got his first shot yesterday too, in a week he's going to fly out of town to see his 100 year old uncle. It's his uncle's birthday, DH can't miss a milestone like this. It's such a relief to know he'll have at least some protection....
