Disney's BOARDWALK INN Information & Questions

Hi BWI peeps! First stay at BWI and have two water view rooms reserved for a Christmas stay this year. Anyone have any suggestions for certain rooms or area to request for a boardwalk/water view that rocks? Love to people watch as well as a night view all lit up too! Bonus points for connecting rooms! I have looked through touring plans but thought I'd ask the experts! Thanks in advance!

I went back and looked at our room request for a full water and boardwalk view. I requested the 3rd floor with a west facing room. 3240s or 3213-19. (Anything with a full water view.) We ended up in room 3241 (Thank you, Disney!) with a lovely view. Neither my husband nor I can remember if it had a connecting room. The one photo we have of the room doesn't show the wall where the connecting room would be.

Hi all! Just booked our first stay at BWI, have always stayed value in the past but decided to splurge with the discount and no real vacations in 1.5 years. Staying garden view at the beginning of August and excited to be walking distance to 2 parks, see the boardwalk area for the first time, and try out the pool!

What's the current dining situation? Coming from Pop/AOA I'm used to one large food court. Staying with a 6yo, so not planning on doing much (if any) table service. Thanks!

So happy for you! BWI is the best!

BWI has no food court. Despite its name, the Bakery (on the Boardwalk) serves a few meal options such as breakfast sandwiches. (My spouse particularly likes their grilled cheese and soup combo.) Also, in normal times, the Belle Vue Lounge (located within BWI) is open for a light breakfast. This currently is closed. Since you will be staying at BWI, chances are you will be walking by the BVL every day.

The Boardwalk has a bar called Abracadabar.

There also is a pizza window on the Boardwalk.

For the Bakery or the pizza window, your options are to eat outside, bring your food to the Belle Vue Lounge (which has limited seating), or take it back to the room.

Two full-service restaurants are open.

Trattoria al Forno serves Italian food for dinner and offers a full range of meals for breakfast. This restaurant requires a reservation, although sometimes they can squeeze you in as a walk-up.

Big River Grille is more of a pub with several American menu items. This is open for lunch and dinner. Reservations are not required but are recommended. You can book this on Open Table.

The Flying Fish and ESPN Club, the Boardwalk's two other restaurants, are closed.

In addition, the Boardwalk used to have WDW's best ice cream at a place called Ample Hills. But this closed due to business issues that had nothing to do with its WDW location. No replacement has been announced.

If you don't see breakfast you want at the Bakery, you could also do a mobile order for the Beach Club Marketplace. They have some breakfast items, like Mickey waffles. It's not the shortest walk ever for breakfast, but it's easy to get to.

Re dining, in addition to what’s mentioned above, the Swan & Dolphin have QS and TS options too. Check out the S/D thread on the Resorts board.

Please, please, please DO NOT order pizza from the window at the boardwalk. Possibly the worst on property. No, it is the worst on property. Even worse than Pizza Rizzo and we love that character.

Hi, hello, welcome to my park.........

I'm sorry to hear you had this experience. My daughter ordered a pizza from there when we were there the end of April and she said it was really good. I didn't have any but it looked really good too. What didn't you like about your pizza?

Frozen whole pizza put on a conveyor belt that was burnt on the bottom and raw on top. It was like the oven needed to be calibrated. There was also little to no sauce on the two that we ordered.

Hey does anyone know what brand and style mattress BWV has? That was the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on. Like sleeping on a cloud. My back really loved it. Went to bed with a sore back and woke up feeling great.

I'm thrilled to say that I have our first stay at BWI booked for this November! We were doing a quickie longish weekend at the Swan, but I saw I could get a std room at BWI for a "little" more :rolleyes1 so I had to book it!

and since we'll 3 of our 4 days at Epcot/HS it seemed quite appropriate to be over there!

Its just 2 adults and we'd love a king over 2 queens, but it looks like they have way more queen rooms than king rooms, so who knows what our chances are for getting a king??!!

I'm just happy to have another trip on the books!

We will be heading down to BWI for the first time in July! The rep over the phone requested a king for us, but he said it’s just a request. So excited!

great! and I figure, if we get 2 queens, then I'll just get a bed all to myself and I can sleep in the middle!

We are DVC members and haven't stayed in a traditional hotel room in quite a few years and cant remember - is there a mini-fridge and coffee pot in the traditional hotel rooms or are those just in DVC?

and can you still buy distilled water in the hotel?

thanks!

I found the answer to one of my questions - I watched a video on Youtube, and it showed a mini-fridge AND a 1 cut keurig coffee maker in the room!
