My wife has an Amex Platinum card, and I would like to make use of the $200 Fine Hotels & Resorts credit on a trip that my son and I are taking. However, it seems that the only way to get the booking in my name is for her to add me as an authorized user ($175/yr). Considering that the annual fee is coming up in a month and we don't intend on renewing, if she adds me as an AU and then cancels a month later will the $175 AU fee be refunded at a prorated amount (11/12 of $175=~$160) since we will have only gotten 1 month of use from it?

The transit system in Chicago is excellent. I took either the subway or bus almost everywhere (exceptions were for my early morning PCR test to come back to Canada, Navy Pier to see the Halloween lights {walked back} and to the Museum of Science and Industry which is not well connected to transit). You can get a transit pass (Ventra) at the airport for however many days that you require and hop on the blue line to your hotel.

I was rather limited in my hotel options because I wanted to use either my Hyatt FNC or one of my Marriott 35K FNCs for the first night. The Westin River North was a top choice but it was 40K points / night. I also looked at the (Hyatt) Chicago Athletic Association (CAA), but since I was transferring the the WA the next day it made more sense to choose the Thompson since it was just a few blocks south. The CAA is a highly regarded hotel; I saw it from the exterior and kind of regretted not choosing it. You should definitely consider it. If / when I go back it will be at the top of my list along with the Westin River North.

I was able to do a GOH booking for DD at the Chicago Athletic Association last weekend. She was in town for a football game. Having the globalist status gave her free parking which I thought was a great perk that they did not have to worry about where to park for the game. She also said they had a nice free breakfast. Being college kids, free food always a plus! She is used to the "free" breakfast at cheapy hotels and she was very impressed with the real breakfast. She texted me that breakfast was great with a menu and everything. lol. It didn't sound like they got any upgrade. She said they were on floor 7 of she thought 8, but their room was small (fine for the 2 of them but cramped when 8 of their friends came in to pregame. lol) and they had a view of a brick wall. They sent a pic of the basketball court on floor 4 that they were excited to find. It would have been close to $600 including the valet fee and breakfast and we got it for 15,000 points. I was most excited to have her a safe place to park in the city. My other DD was in San Francisco the weekend before and was only staying in the city for one night before they were heading to Yosemite. She came out the next morning to find not only a parking ticket 🤦‍♀️ on their rental car but 2 smashed windows and things stolen from the trunk. That was a mess of a situation for 2 young girls to be dealing with. Took hours out of their day to get it all straightened out. Her wallet had 3 credit cards and a debit card and the only thing they charged was 3 small McDonalds orders and a bike rental. :confused3

All the homecomings here in MI have been outside on the football field. Everyone has been doing tennis shoes (boys and girls). We've also had a ton of rain. So it's been muddy messes! Lots of brand new white shoes ruined, LOL.
Gosh, I hope his isn’t. Every email still does not list a location. His school gym is huge and the school is small. Like 250 kids in the high school. I have been looking at Converse or white Adidas. Bow ties seem to be all the rage.

BA's release pattern is interesting. They seem to release 2 when the calendar opens, then more a few days later. For SFO it was either 3 or 5 depending on the day of the week. We're flying back on a Tuesday since Sunday and Monday only had 3. If you only see 4 in economy, that seems to mean they'll release more (at which time economy is wide open and no number is displayed).
Awesome! Thanks for that tip. And I was actually planning on flying back on a Wednesday, since that day tends to be easier to book. I guess BA is back up to option 1 since I can transfer UR and MR.

Well, the support links have lived on past the public offer before, so all you can do is grab the link and cross your fingers. There's no guarantee of course.
Just PCd my CSR to a Freedom Flex. The customer rep said the PC is effective immediately. I have heard that I need to wait 4 days to make sure the 2-sapphire-rule doesn't kick in to apply for the CSP. Is this correct? Should I grab a support link now and hold it for 4 days or get the support link on the 4th day?

Thanks for any and all advice!!

Yes, everything I've seen about it is to wait 4 days after PC'ing. I just want to make sure that you are not self-supporting! Does P2 have a CSP support link for you to use? If so, get it now, don't wait. There will be support links on DISchurners if you don't have a P2.

I will be using a DISchurners link. I will go get one now. Thank you!!

Google Chase Refer a Friend for the generic generation link. If that doesn't work, log into your account, click on your CSP card and select "More" over on the right side, click on "card benefits", and scroll allllll the way to the bottom and there should be a "refer a friend" link.
Thank you for the help. I finally found it under Ways To Earn.

P2 applied for and was successfully approved for a CSP today. Now to wait forever to receive the card.

FYI - I'm pricing car rentals for our trips next year. I'm finding that the Chase travel portal has similar pricing as Costco Budget rentals.
I wouldn't use the Chase travel portal for a rental car. That comes through Expedia and if you want to cancel or make changes it can get dicey. Most of the time you can't skip the counter on a third party rental either. For rental cars my advice has been and always will be www.autoslash.com Use them to find a rate to book, then have them track it. They have saved me in excess of $2,000 in the three years I've been using them, prices come down they let you know so you can rebook. They search Costco rates as well.

Booked the NCL Prima for 2023! I'm such a sucker for new ships lol. Goes from Southampton to Bruges, Amsterdam, Norway, Iceland, and ends in Reykjavík. There are 2 ports in Iceland that we didn't get to on our land trip, so that's perfect.

I was able to get the Amex plat cruise perks added to my booking. It's $200 OBC for balcony and dinner for 2 at Le Bistro. First time using the program since I didn't know how it worked before. You don't have to book with Amex Travel, a TA that's part of the program can do it too. On Cruise Compete, I saw that the agency I was going to book with anyways listed that as something they can do. From what I gathered on the Cruise Critic forum, the entire amount needs to be paid with Amex, but not necessarily a plat. Not too sure about the deposit, I did end up putting it on a plat.

Is your main reason for not using the Chase travel portal for changes / cancellations? I've used it a lot to book our rental cars, but I always use points. The rates I've booked have always had free cancellation and when I've found a lower rate, I just rebook and then cancel the first reservation. I do have to have enough points to at least temporarily have both bookings, but otherwise, I've never run into problems doing it that way.

We are not Costco members, but may end up joining sometime because I think DH would like it if we could add my name to the reservations so I could drive sometime too. He doesn't mind driving, but sometimes it would be handy if we both could.

I always check autoslash as well and have never really found anything cheaper than what I'm booking with my URs so I've always stuck with that. I didn't know they could search Costco rates, so that's definitely good to know for the future.

Thanks! I’ll try auto slash, but I’ve been using the Chase travel portal for rental cars for years and never had any issues.

Pre-PYB I booked plenty of car rentals through Chase. I pretty much stick with National (CSR = Exec Elite status + spouse is free add'l driver) and sometimes Enterprise. I've never had an issue. I booked and canceled plenty of reservations and always got points back right away, never had to stop at the counter and I still get rental credits (I believe with National 5 rentals = 1 free day). I book via cash now and then PYB, but should that end I would go back to booking cars via Chase.
