Wearing PJs to Walmart

I don’t think that the issue is with casual wear. If you are out with your hair brushed, makeup on (if you like to wear makeup), and matched gym clothes that is completely different than being out in a wrinkled t-shirt, pj pants, hair in a messy bun, dirty socks, and flip flops.

I personally don’t think I’ve ever gone to a store in my pajamas. Occasionally I see someone in them at the store. It doesn’t bother me. Now yoga pants or workout pants I wear a lot. Never knew people had issue with that. Now I will go out in front of my house with Pajamas on. I did it today. Our cars were covered in ice and I went out to defrost them.

I have two Walmarts near me and they are both nice.

At the YMCA I work out at, a lot of old guys come in and work out in jeans. So are jeans workout attire?

Bedroom attire and Pjs at 2 totally different things for me :rotfl2:

Well I used that phrase as at the time I wore a T-shirt and a pair of shorts to bed, not pajamas. So I wore those and a robe to the movie. But I can see the phrase can conjure up other images!

In the Stone Age most woman got dressed up to go to the supermarket.

This looks like a staged photo with models, but you get the idea. My mother didn’t wear her Sunday finest, but she wouldn’t dream of going in her “around the house” clothes.

As for these ladies…..Eeeeek!!! :scared1:

She’d NEVER wear hair curlers out somewhere.

In one I Love Lucy episode, Ethel was aghast at the idea of wearing blue jeans on the subway.

Its interesting reading the replies, as it shows how many of the people who replied are not from or live in low income areas. I live in a low income, high unemployment area and since the 1980's leisure wear / track suits / sweatpants and now yoga pants are what many people wear on a day to day basis., because they are cheap to buy clothes which are warm. People in this area have a very low budget for clothes, and could buy two pairs of sweatpants for the same price as 1 pair of jeans. When the mall opened around 1990, the local joke at the time was, The Pope came to bless the new building and kept saying in his speech, I bless this new gym, and the Mayor kept correcting him, no your Holiness, its a mall, and the Pope asked, if its a mall, why is everyone wearing tracksuits???

So I see a different side, I see people doing the best they can and wearing cheap sweatpants on a day to day basis, so that they can have money to feed their kids.
Wearing sweatpants out in public is one thing, which is perfectly fine. Wearing obvious pajamas is another.

PJs vs Sweats. Let the chaos begin.

I'll bite. Why? I'm genuinely curious on what the difference is. Many people sleep in sweatpants.
Who cares what you wear to bed? I wear sweats to bed too. The topic was if pajamas should be worn in public. They were wearing obvious pajamas, no mistaking it. It’s “my opinion” that they should not be worn in public.

My kids did PJ Days in elementary school—grades k-4 in our district. Never in the middle schools or high school.

Yep, for my first plane trip in 1968 my father wore a summer suit and tie,
while my mother and I wore nice dresses and hats. Maybe even white gloves too.

My first plane trip was the early 80’s with my grandparents and we all dressed up too. Times have definitely changed.

For long overnight flights, I wear a comfy, stretchy, and loose Old Navy dress, black leggings, and Sketchers flats. I take a black cardigan in case I get cold. This outfit is super comfy for sleeping on the plane because the dress is as comfy as a nightgown. The flats are sneaker soles but slip off much more easily than sneakers.
