Disney Wish - First reviews from the media cruise - biased?

Can anyone recommend some non-annoying YT accounts to follow that have reviewed the Wish media cruise? I saw that This is How We Bingham family on there but I couldn't even finish their Galactic Starcruiser one because they're too in love with unnecessary jump cuts.
If you haven’t watched the one posted above then I felt that was a fair assessment and they were a lot more honest than I expected anyone on the media cruise to be.

I can’t believe Disney have gone the way of the other cruise lines and made a huge shopping area for high end goods that no one will buy.

Agreed. So that reviewer said they could have fit 7 or 8 skyline lounges into the space they
devoted to high end retail. Yet the Hyperspace lounge only fits 50 people? Annoying. That
is one of the criticisms I have of other lines is too many stores. Sounds like overall Disney is
continuing their trajectory.

And from the deck plans it looks like the Hyperspace Lounge is right next to the luxury shopping so why didn’t they just use one of those shops and make a huge Hyperspace Lounge? Star Wars is ALWAYS going to be popular and that lounge would likely fill no matter how big they made it.

Also it was interesting in that video they confirmed there was no dedicated adult area and they didn’t know how trivia and activities was going to work with the spaces. This was a huge concern to me after I saw the original photos so… hopefully the MV will clear that up.

Yup, half the complaints here are "this ship isn't innovative or doesn't add anything new" and the other half "the ship is doing too much". This soap opera takes place every time any cruise line launches a new ship.
Pretty much sums up my feelings after reading through the thread as well. This thread was as predictable as a sunrise. If someone enjoys DCL in general, I don't see how it wouldn't be worth at least trying it out for yourself. People are supposedly canceling cruises based on some YT reviews and walkthroughs? I wouldn't presume to tell anyone how to spend their money, but personally I'll hold judgment until I see it for myself in September.

My favorite are the ones who wouldn't like it because just want a nice quiet relaxing dinner. Why would you even look at DCL then? Themed dining "experiences" are kind of Disney's thing, both in the parks and on the ships.

The more practical reviews will show up in the coming months as "regular people" bloggers with kids, and who have done Disney cruises on other ships, start cruising on the Wish. I pick cruises based on the itinerary so I will not see Wish in the foreseeable future - but to each their own.

Yes i agree that is incredibly disapointing. The adults spaces look too small and not enclosed enough and it seems like some of their area has been given to pointless shops.

If nobody bought them, the shop wouldn't last long. Kind of like the old joke about nobody goes there any more because its too crowded. :jester:

We were on the Dream in May for the Podcast Cruise. One shop (not a huge shopping area) carried some high end goods. Will the shop be bigger on the Wish?

I think they said there was 4 shops with higher end goods. And they were the size of 8 Skyline Lounges (which they said is approx the same size as Hyperspace Lounge.) This isn’t the shops with Disney stuff in, this has a few Dooneys and a few Vera Bradley’s and Pandora plus lots of watches, jewelry, leather goods etc

So they have given eight times as much space to luxury shopping as they have something that people were VERY excited for.

Why? Because loud shows at meals at both Disney Parks and DCL are the exception, not the norm. But on the Wish, 2 out of 3 restaurants not only feature entertainment, but loud in-your-face type of shows instead of something in the background that adds to the ambiance or comes in short bursts. It's just personal preference, but it isn't an overly picky one in my opinion. I think it is likely there are many people like me who love what DCL has to offer, but also like a dinner where they can talk to other humans. There is plenty of flashy entertainment outside of dinner.

The Fantasy, which we love, only has a dinner show in one of three restaurants, and it is much less in-your-face than the two on the Wish. On the Magic, we didn't care for the Rapunzel show, as it made it difficult to talk, even with our servers, which is a pretty important part of dining. (It was also a rehash of songs you see in the full performance on the ship, which seemed rather redundant).

As for the parks, where are you seeing these types of shows? Because all the highly-themed restaurants I can think of have nothing like these shows.

The shows probably won't keep us from trying the Wish if it ever switches to a 7-day cruise, but it will be one factor that we would consider. I mostly like the look and feel of the ship, but find this particular aspect unappealing. Again, it's just personal preference and it's cool if others love a loud show during dinner. I also find the variety of opinions here, and related discussions, to be enjoyable and not necessarily premature now that we have long-format videos of most of the ship.

Edit: I also completely understand others on here who have children with sensory sensitivities. At least most nights on the other ships their children can enjoy the dining experience. Here, they would be left out of the entire dining experience on most nights of the cruise. Sensory sensitivity is rather common these days.

I think your gonna get most accurate opinions once the mv comes back. Right now with the cruises going are travel agents/contest winners/media they are definitely going to hype it up and put that in the disclaimer it was a free trip. The pictures they were posting were great and I can't wait to see and explore the ship.

Is that what happened to Tiffanys? Every time I walked by it was empty. Then one time
we sailed I thought about buying something for my Grandmother it was gone!

We are huge Disney fans, Disney cruise fans and while I’m sure we’d enjoy ourselves on the Wish, we are thinking of changing to a different sailing because:
- I feel like the Wish skews heavily princess theme and families with young children. I really think the other ships just have more for all ages, including 13 year old boys lol (which is who we are sailing with on the Wish)
- I agree with you that entertainment is to be expected during some dinners on DCL. However there is more of that on the Wish. 2 out of the 3 restaurants. Where as the other ships may have: Enchanted Garden and Royal Palace where you don’t have that.
Some will want loud dinners with characters and for others one dinner like that is enough.
I think it’s ok to say that for my family (and many others) the overall princess theme of the Wish and shows around every corner are enough to maybe cancel their sailing. Or just defer it… or change to another.
It’s an expensive cruise, we have been wanting to get back on DCL, but I really feel (right now, this will probably change) that the Wish, although beautiful and innovative in many ways, doesn’t cater to everyone in the family like their other ships do. It’s ok it’s different. It’s great actually. Why would they build a carbon copy of the other ships. It’s a lot of $ though for us to go and “try” to find things we’ll enjoy and try to avoid princess overload.

That’s the family I enjoy. Griff and Alyssa have a good page

its not 2 out of 3 restaurants. There are other Restaurants on the ship.

And Sensory sensitivity is not common. Its still rare. No one is forcing people with health issues onto the cruise. It doesnt have to cater to everyone.

Seriously? It's 2 out or 3 of the main dining restaurants, which are a major attraction for sailing DCL. But I'm sure you got the point and are just being argumentative. Or is your counter really that someone should drop thousands extra to sail DCL only to skip two-thirds of of main dining and eat bad pizza by the pool? Remember, alternate dinner dining at Cabanas or its equivalents isn't even being offered on the other ships right now and might not be on this one.

I won't argue over the meaning of the word "common," but it is as high as one out of ten of all children. Nor was my point that people with sensory sensitivity should be catered to at every dining experience. The point was that it was a legitimate reason for people to pick another ship for their families.

With regard to the vloggers, social media influencers, and travel writers, Carly Wisel can be hit or miss, but she gave a lukewarm review for the Marvel restaurant.
Carlye will give it to you straight she has also commented/gave a critique about the “jogging track” on the ship
I wonder if they will do Lightning Lane for the Hyperspace?
I’m hoping for a VQ situation like trader Sam’s…. Darn it now I hope we get a tiki bar on 6 or 7
I haven't noticed, is it still Key to the World Cards instead of Magic Bands? Even Princess has their version of Magic Bands. I haven't sailed Princess, but it's really cool that your door unlocks upon approach.
I love princesses system

I assume Disney Food Blog is posting YT content
Carlye Wisel is planning a few podcasts on her experience

Not a fan of bloggers/vloggers. I don't depend on movie critics either. Everyone is different and expect different things. I can't wait to personally sail on the Wish and make my own opinion.

I can respect that point of view. I just don't put enough faith in the impressions from someone's YT video to know how much I would enjoy something, I like to experience it myself and make up my own mind. I know I enjoy DCL's product overall, so I'm confident I'll get my money's worth, even if I decide I like the Fantasy better. I like to try the new thing so I can compare, even if there's a chance it may not be my favorite. But that's me, everyone has a hundred factors they use to decide how they spend their money. I can see why some would prefer less of the in your face entertainment at dinner, I might too, I'll find out.

I don't really get a "Princess overload" vibe from what I've seen, but again I'll see for myself. You have the Frozen dinner show, and one of the theater shows is Little Mermaid, etc but to me it seems like there's plenty of Marvel, Star Wars, pirates, and other Disney stuff to balance it out. They Bayou Lounge seems like it's more based on New Orleans than Tiana. I definitely get not every ship is for every family. If you decide to stick with it, I hope you love it!

yes i dont get the princess vibe either. Its in the atrium and one of the shows and arrendale. But overall the ship really seems well balanced between marvel, star wars, princesses and mickey/goofy.
