Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

We will be staying GDT CL October 14-18! We stayed years ago in the Cabana section. This is a quick trip with DD's 26 & 21. I'm hoping they don't argue over who's turn it is to push the elevator button this time. LOL

They may - GDT has those cool modern elevators where you push the button for your floor on a key pad in the elevator lobby and then in directs to you a specific elevator cab. There are no floor buttons in the cab itself. My kids (granted much younger than yours) get a kick out of that.

New "Luz del Destino" Scavenger Hunt Debuts at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort

A fun, new offering is now available to Guests staying at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort!

Starting this week, Guests can participate in the new "Luz del Destino" Scavenger Hunt, an indoor scavenger hunt that will allow them to explore multiple areas of the resort. Guests participating in this complimentary experience will search for characters, count icons, and discover the rich culture and history of Disney's Coronado Springs Resort.

Clue sheets will be available for Guests at the Front Desk of the hotel and at Panchito's Gifts & Sundries.

Has anyone had breakfast at the Rix Sports Bar recently? I've booked for August and wondered how the big stack pancakes and all American breakfast are rated.

Good to know. I'm not a huge fan of this. They have this at the Paradise Pier hotel in California. Atleast I'm prepared. Thanks for sharing!

I have to say, I was extremely impressed with this resort. I had not stayed since the Christmas after 9-11 and WOW. Moderate? No way. And as noted, so many USBs. More than you have devices. What forethought. We also were allocated one of the best rooms we have had in the 20 plus years we have been going to the parks. 4th floor building 5 Casitas. Wow. Could see fireworks each night at Epcot and a few at Hollywood....I think. Room service was alternate days, fine, and staff was great. Had amazing dinner at Toledo's and the manager and our server were outstanding. And mmmmm. The rib steak for two was absolutely perfect as was our wine and the view. Could not have been better. Would stay here again in a nanosecond.

Just want to say we love this resort . Stayed in cabanas 8660 by the quiet pool and laundry . The best meal we had was at Three Bridges . The corn dip appetizer was amazing . The poke bowl with ahi tuna was the best thing we ate all week . Churros were delicious. We can’t wait to go back . We went to Kona the next night and had a terrible meal . Poke was blah and our table was freezing . Also the waiter brought my drink with alcohol instead of virgin . Rolls were ok . None of the food was impressive. If you’re not staying at Coronado it’s worth the trip for Three Bridges!

Can anyone tell me if El Mercado is still not serving hot food items between 2:00 pm-5:00 pm? Last time we were there in April only food available at 2:00 pm was in refrigerator cases.

Anyone stayed GDT club level with small kids? Our daughter is 7. Will she like the hotel?

Anyone know how the Magic Band supply is at the shop there? I’m thinking of purchasing ours on arrival day.

Hello, everyone!

My family and I are in the early stages of planning a trip to Disney next June. This trip will be different in that we plan to spend a few days at Universal first before heading to Disney. We also usually stay at deluxe resorts, but I’m having trouble accepting the price of the deluxe resorts which is why I’m visiting this thread. We’ve stayed at CBR and POR before and we liked them both but didn’t love them. We visited GDT on our trip last summer and thought it was beautiful!

Here are a few questions before I book GDT:

1. How are busses? I’m a little worried that this is the only mode of transportation and we won’t have a car. According to page 1, it looks like GDT is bus stop #1, but the last stop before heading to the parks. Are busses full by the time they reach GDT?

2. Are there drink refill stations in GDT or do we need to walk somewhere else to get our mugs refilled?

3. Is the main pool busy? We like to take afternoon breaks. We are used to Stormalong Bay, and it’s certainly busy there, but we can usually find chairs. Can you find chairs at the main pool here?

4. How are the food options? I looked at the menus linked on page 1, and it looks like there is a good variety of food, but just looking for other’s opinions.

Please share anything else I should know.

I appreciate any help. Thank you!

We have stayed at GDT several times and we love it. YMMV of course, but here is how we have found things:

1. We were always able to get on the first bus that arrived except occasionally when we were using a scooter. Bus service was far more reliable than AKL, for example.
2. You do have to walk through to the next building for drink refills, though the walkway is covered and you pass several nice lounge areas on the way.
3. Here I can’t help you much as we tend to go in February, so we never had a problem with a crowded pool.
4. We like the food at Rix, Quick service is fine, food in each of the lounges is terrific, and Toledo is a must do for us.

You do have large windows to enjoy a view, but if the water view is significantly more expensive, we choose the standard and ask to be up as high as possible and we’ve always been comfortable.
