Where is your next vacation?

You will love that show! We saw her in Jan. and it was fantastic!

Should have hung around for another day or 2, all of the Football Hall of Fame activities are going on this weekend in Canton, about an hour south of Cleveland.

We just got back from 4 nights at the Jersey Shore, used to go there when the kids were younger and my daughter was feeling nostalgic and wanted to go. Also did an Alaskan cruise in May.

No specific plans the rest of the year, although DH turns 50 in Nov. and wants to do something (we went to Italy for mine), but he won't commit to anything! He was 90% sure on Greece, but it looks like it's kinda cold that time of year, and a lot of places shut down for the winter. So maybe Spain? maybe London again? Maybe an AI in the Caribbean? Just pick something so I can plan! It's only 3 months away!
Yea. Unfortunately work happens. My wife is a teacher and she actually starts back this week

We took two big vacations this year, so next year we are going to be more low key. We plan to go the Traverse City area of Michigan and then on to Mackinac Island in June 2024.

Scotland is wonderful!! I'd love to go back - been twice for 10 days each.

We're going to HHI in 3 weeks. We'll be there for a week.

Heading to UOF for OI Meetup in December then to WDW for Jollywood nights. Another week long trip.
We’re planning on 10-14 days in Scotland next summer. I would love as many details as you would be willing to share. Where did you stay? How long in each place? Favorite activities, sites?

We did Western Michigan and Mackinac Island in summer ‘21. We spent several days in Traverse city on the beach. We loved it!!

Zion, Bryce Canyon and Capital Reef via Vegas in October.
Caribbean cruise on Carnival week of New Years.

Right now, Caribbean cruise on Holland for spring break. But I am thinking about moving it to the west coast or just bagging it all together. Trying to fly across the country at a decent price and a decent time is becoming impossible. May consider Maui as well since it is cheaper for me to fly there.

Starting to think about next summer's trip already. So many ideas but work gets in the way. 😊

If we’re talking future planning, Southwest just opened up Spring 24 flights. Looking at the last week of March for WDW

I am going to Traverse City and then to Mackinac Island in early September. 😁

On first trip, we flew into London and spent a couple days there. Then took the Caledonia Sleeper train into Inverness. We then traveled on to Skye and stayed there for a long weekend in a small inn. It was our favorite part of the trip.

We took the bus back to Inverness then the train on to Edinburgh. We stayed in a Residence Inn near the university which ended up being a great location and walkable to almost everything we wanted to see and do. We did take the train to Linlithgow to do a tour out of there. Outlander fan here so we hit a lot of sites from the show. Loved Edinburgh castle, loved everything we saw and did.

We went back and took our kids a couple years ago. We again flew into London for a day and then hopped a flight to Inverness. We spend a long weekend there again and stayed in an apartment right on the River Ness. We did tours to the Highlands and another back to Skye. Highly recommend both. We went to Culloden (did that first trip also) before we left. Took train to Edinburgh and stayed in an Airbnb near the castle. We did the National Museum (Free), Edinburgh Castle, Dean Village and again, some Oultander sites.

Both trips were 10 days. One tip...book as much as you can in advance - train and castle. Also look into joining Historic Scotland. Just way out what you want to see and if the discount they offer makes sense. For us, it did.

Please feel free to PM if you have any other questions. We're dying to go back.

ETA: Take Skins So Soft for the midgies. They can be a real nuisance in summer months in the highlands.

I spend about half of each year traveling in my RV. I'm currently out on a trip now that includes Land Between the Lakes, Cades Cove and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Planning a big trip out west soon but not sure of the details yet.

That's great TT, have you mentioned that before? I guess you're posting here a lot from the road on your travels. Can't go wrong with an RV trip out west. :thumbsup2

Tomorrow we are heading to the coast of a Maine for a two week camping trip with extended family. Can’t wait! The weather is finally looking good. We have been going here since I was an infant and the place never changes which makes it special.

Even my adult kids and nieces and nephews are thrilled to be going. We basically hang out at the beach, play games, hike, fish, paddleboard and basically disconnect.
@HeatherC Where do you go camping? Curious (local) minds want to know!!

Yes, I've mentioned my RV travels before. I do spend time reading here occasionally when I'm out and about or when the weather isn't cooperating with me.
I'm doing the initial planning for a several month west trip but I get overwhelmed with it all and forget about it for a while. I'll make it happen one day. I just have to get over the anxiety of it all.

Oh nice. Sounds like a lot of planning, but sounds like it'll be worth it.

We got back yesterday from a week in a cottage on the southern Maine coast, in York Beach. My sibs/nieces/nephews are there, and my cousins are mostly in the Boston area. Usually we go for 2 weeks but this year only one, due to having had knee surgery. I couldn't go to the beach or walk on the rocks/sand, and long car travel was difficult. Still, it was nice to look at 4 different walls!

Currently planning on going to WDW with DD, her husband, and his 7yo son in January. There are multiple mitigating circumstances so it might not happen, but right now we are looking good to go. Airfare is booked on Southwest points (in fact, I just turned them over to get 14K points back!) and the AirBnB can be canceled without penalty until 2 days before check in, so we are good there. I'd love to stay onsite but DD/SIL don't think the 7yo can handle The Bubble, 24/7, so an offsite pool home it is! We are looking forward to going, but I won't buy the park tickets (4 days, one day per park) until much closer to travel time, as Disney tickets AREN'T refundable! Besides, it gives me more time to rack up DisVISA points to offset the stupid cost of park passes!

Currently on the plane home from Disneyland! Did the ABD and Avengers party this past week, and it was an amazing trip.

Next one is Colorado, September 9-12. I'll be hiking outside of Aspen for 3 days, then spending a day in Denver before heading home.

Well I’m in the pre planning to go back to WDW for next year . I haven’t been anywhere in years 13 to be exact so I want to go back and now we have my dgd 7. I’m very excited the last time I went is when I took her mom.

weekend in Miami for an event this month, then two nights at YC for DH's birthday in Sep, a night at ASMo after we attend MNSSHP in Oct, and finally an anniversary trip to Vegas in November! we're big fans of mini-vacations, we do 2-4 night trips throughout the year as opposed to any long ones!

I work in the “burg” lol are you going to BG or CW?
Just BG. We’ve been a lot of times and this was a request from my dd20 with autism to go before we move to Florida next year. We always loved BG but haven’t been since Covid.

And I have to say Simone Biles was soooo awesome and really made our Chicago trip perfect!
